    • Absolutely.  I'd take a second screen over better graphics and performance any day of the week. Maybe Nintendo could allow people to hook up another Switch/Switch 2 to act as a second screen in appropriate games? I mean, Pacman VS works perfectly fine in Namco Museum Switch; it can be done!
    • I'll just have to speedrun everything hardcore if Switch 2 comes out in November then
    • I personally think expecting anything more then this for the vast majority of games is setting yourself up for disappointment. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a good example. That will almost certainly run better through sheer brute force, but games that are hard coded to run at 30 frames aren't going to magically become 60. EDIT: Ah right, @Julius. Probably should clarify. Smash Ultimate already has an online arena. It lets up to 8 people get into one room, the host sets the rules, and people queue up to rotate into matches. People queueing up can even spectate. (Or sit in the "spectator stands" to only spectate matches. It's quite robust, but it only allows one person per console, which is my biggest beef with it.
    • What if The World Ends With You and Wario Ware had a baby?  The resulting homunculus is Mindwave. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/holohammer/mindwave A new game just appeared on Kickstarter (due to come out in 2027), with a demo now out on Steam.  It's essentially a mashup of Wario Ware with TWEWY of all things, and it's rad as hell! Imagine a brand new Wario Ware game with Keyboard and Mouse being the new "gimmick" input and you've basically figured out the gameplay hook.  But on top of that, you have interstitial story sequences that feature branching dialogue and artwork that is more than a little reminiscient of S-E/Jupiter's DS classic; just on an extra little touch of LSD. The demo is super polished to a mirror sheen, already feeling like a final product, and massively impressive from both a stylistic and gameplay perspective. @RedShell This shiz is right up your alley!
    • I honestly don't think that will happen for free.  I think most "upgrades" will be paid, but hopefully well-priced. Rumour mill is pointing towards BOTW and Odyssey "remasters" which will run in 1440p at 60fps. Both games were 900p on the OG Switch, and BOTW was 30fps, of course.  I would be ok with stuff like this if it was a £5-10 upgrade, but I can also see them fully remastering some games to take proper advantage of the new hardware and charging full-whack for them. How heavy the lean into that will be interesting. Hopefully not too much.  I think the most we can expect for "free" is simply for all games which use dynamic resolution scaling to always run at their max resolution, so BOTW would be 900p without frame dips. Stuff like Doom Eternal and The Witcher 3 would be interesting from that POV, I suppose. We may also see some games treat Switch 2's handheld mode as the old docked mode, so if the rumours are to be believed, they will run at a higher res than 720p, given the talk that that new screen is supposedly 1080p, which is absolutely crazy IMO because it's a needless drain on battery for minimal visual gain at a size that small, but that's another discussion.
