Saw

It was on the telly...it would be rude not to :heh:. You'd all probably guess what my score is.

10/10

Saw II

Loved it. As Slaggis said, sometimes the Eric Mathews storyline was boring but still, very enjoyable.

9/10

I heard about Surrogates being crap and I was thinking of watching it, is it really that bad? lol.

I saw this (no pun intended) on TV last night. Pretty good i thought. Some pretty good games played with some subtle clues that took me a while to figure out. I'll give it a 9/10 as well

I also watched earlier

Rocky III

Sly Stallone's 3rd outing as the infamous Rocky Balboa. Good story to it as well, going from Top-Dog back to Under-Dog and working his way back to the Top.

9/10

Knowing

.....wow, that was just wow. As many have said before, the only good thing about this was the special effects used to show the disasters, thats it.

The acting of course was terrible but the whole movie had a weird feel to it, like it was filmed in the 80s but used new technology and there was some very heavy handed use of music in certain scenes which really stood out.

That was just pap/10

EDIT: Forgot to mention that totally without knowing (no pun intended) I watched this movie on the exact date that is the last disaster date specified in the movie which was weird

Solaris

Good story (? I didn't really understand it...), but pointlessly, pointlessly long. As in, there's a 5 minute scene with a camera attached to the front of a car on a motorway. And most of the start seems really irrelevant to the rest of the film (probably means something though).

It was cool though.

6/10

Unless you're talking about the remake, you just made a powerful enemy today!

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan

It re-tells the first two seasons of Battlestar Galactica from a different point of view, and brings much more character to them in the process, especially the Simons/Twos (who was essentially only used in The Farm episode).

In fact, the entire film is all about bringing more depth to the characters, and my perspective on Cavil as a villain has changed quite a bit (he didn't seem to have good reason for being so evil before).

Even in a spoiler box I don't want to say too much, so just watch it.

Oh...and boobs!

Rocky Balboa

6th installment in the popular franchise starring Sly Stallone. Just goes to show that even at 60, he can still do major film roles. Personally, i think Rocky V was a bad way to end the franchise so with this installment i found it a more fitting way to end it.

So heeeey! I finally saw Saw! And it was rather good actually. I'm really not the horror film kinda guy but this worked for me. Had me cringing a lot which I fully expected and I purposefully blurred my vision for some parts. I enjoyed it anyway, a mindless couple of hours.

7/10.

Ooh, Chair saw Solaris. Spooky, I have it sitting on my desk now, ready to be watched. I have 2 films on the go at the moment, Lars Von Trier's Manderlay, the sequel to the thought-provoking Dogville, and F.F. Copolla's Bram Stoker's Dracula, which I'm 2/3 through. At the start I was like "...I hate (Keanu Reeves/shit). So MUCH". And then suddenly it becomes stunningly directed with really unsettling cinematography and stunning visuals. I love erotic too. I'll watch it all before I rate though.

I don't think thats a unique opinion- I reckon everyone shares it! :heh:

Rocky I-IV are great, V is bollocks :( and then VI is a fantastic return and ending.

Manderlay

Sequel to Dogville, a challenging, experiemental, thought-provoking blah blah by Lars Von Trier. This was good too, often hard to follow becasue it's quite uncompromising. Bryce Dallas Howard is no Nicole Kidman though. Although...I thought she fit the role of Grace in this film well, but I couldn't imagine Kidman's Grace doing it the same way in this film.

Typically has bits where it's like "...!".

Tackled slavery in the US, similar set-up as Dogville though. Looking foward to when Von Trier finally completes the trilogy.

8.2/10

Saw II and Saw III

I like the gruelsome nature of the traps. But it seems stupid how Jigsaw's saying he doesn't have much time left, yet seems to do nothing but research people and design elaborate traps. Regardless of his protegé's.

I thought he explained why that was?

Saw 1-3

Saw 2 is my favourite I think out of the three, the play and traps inside it are pretty damn good.

I'm hoping saw 4 will be on soon?

I thought he explained why that was?

Possibly, just from what I remember, after knowing he had an inoperable Too-Mah shit smelt differently to him etc. And instead of living life to the max does what he does because people don't appreciate life etc.

What I found really weird was that instead of going after the really bad people, went after a police informant and a grieving parent.

tirangle or why cinemas should be alowed abortions

simply jaw droppingly bad. every element of the film was terrible.

the plot was nonesense, in that it litteraly made no sense, even in terms of time travle, it made no sense.

all the cast were pretty poor, though they didnt have alot to use, so i'll let them off.

my god was it boring, it was just going and going with no end in sight.

no one was likable, or indeed had any personality.

that this movie got made is baffeling. it simply wasnt any good, it wasnt even so bad it was entertaining.

the premise actualy had potential, shame it was so abysmaly handled.

0/10 litteraly the worst film ive ever seen, and i saw batman and robin

The first Saw is amazing.

Everything after (although I haven't watched 6) is pretty trashy.

Pornographic type fantasies of people dying in ridiculous ways, strung together by child like morals and a predicable twist.

I think it was 5 where when it had that "dun dun duuuuurrrr" twist I was very confused.

I couldn't work out what the twist was.

Then I realised the film thought I was that stupid to not see something so obvious coming.

I think the first and second Saw movies were fantastic but unless you haven't followed the movies, I think from the third to the fifth movies, not a lot of people would understand what's going on properly.

I understand fully what's gone on and everything because I've followed them but my mate whose only watched from the fourth onwards got confused (He's watched them on TV now and he can see what happened). It's not like the other series like Nightmare or Halloween where you can just pick up the sequel and watch them without following the storylines.

I can see why people don't like the third to the latest though but I really enjoy them. The little twists at the end are very good and some you didn't see coming. Having said that, the Saw series is one of the most successful horror series going and one of the most followed too.

Just my opinion :)

My Girl

Blast from the past! I loved it, just as much as I loved it back when I watched it as a kid. And I cried my eyes out, again. But who doesn't with this film, right?

Great child actors, you really start feeling for them and stuff. Plus watching it again now, some parts probably make more sense than they did when I was a young, innocent little girl.

Fox and the Hound

Blast from the past part II! Hadn't seen this in ages, so I didn't really remember much from it. It might've been a bit better when I was younger (I had also never seen it in English before so that was different), but I still loved it. Great animation; I loved the way the backgrounds were done, and how the mist/fog was made etc. Looked beautiful and I miss that in animation films of today.

Paranormal Activity

Brilliant. Just what I like in a movie. It was believable and some parts of the movie were jumpy. Absolutely enjoyed it. I was actually fooled to think it was real, it all looked so real. Can't believe it's not though. People might compare this to the Blair Shit Project but trust me, it's a lot better. Slow at the first 15-20 minutes and then after that, the movie truly begins. Great movie, really enjoyed it.
