  1. Rate the last game you played

ok, so we have rate the last film you watched, rate the last TV saw, deep in the depths i remember a last book you read and we even had a last branded food you ate thread, but i have no recolection of a gamereview thread, which is odd considering this is primerily a gaming site. oh well. ok, well, I'll go first Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Well, first things first, this is game is half game, half movie. This usualy wears thin quickly, but in this instance, it seems rather charming. The whole game/plot has a real flavour of the Indiana Jones films to it, which really shows in the animation more then anything. Jumps often fall a little short and leave Nate (the main character) hanging on by finger tips, outher times, he will slip slightly and almost drop, which can really make things seem more intense. Anouther film parrolle for me, would be die hard. Nate has one liners he delivers on ocashion, the odd head shot might lead to "he'l feel that tommorow", new guns will sometimes get an "Oooh! New toy!", but my personal favorite has to be cursing, or a sarcastic "Great" when a swarm of baddies turn up. This really did add to the game, compair it to anouther game with aspirations of movieness, metal gear solid 4 and you don't see snake react like this during gameplay, just the odd grunt of pain. Gamplay wise, its very much like tomb raider, alot of big jumps and shimmying around. With so many games offering this, (assassins creed, prince of persia etc) its hardly unique, but its still enjoyable. Action sections are pretty much a case of get to cover and pop your head up from time to time. ammo isn't exactly scarse in the game, but you dont hold alot at once, and some gunfights last quiet a while, which means you'l have to break cover to get more ammo. These sections are certainly exciting, and stay clear of the cardinal sin of gaming, repetitiveness. As the game was released in 2007, and featured shooting, it should be no supprise that health is low but regenerates, and that only two guns can be carried at once ( hand gun and heavy weapon, plus grenades) Graphicly speaking, the game is VERY impessive. not only is animation good, the people are well detailed and the environments are lush and diverse. Anouther nice touch is Nate's shirt, when he gets wet, it looks wet, though if hes only wading in water, theres a line of wetness that stops at the water level. This is a fantastic effect to see, especialy when you don't expect it. There are, however, a few problems. The game is pretty linear. only seems to be one rout through, and no sections can change the outcome of the game, its just a straight path for you to follow, though this does lead to a lot of set peices. The jet ski sections were a let down, mostly due to the fact the thing handles like a buttered up water buffalo. On ice. Still, minor flaws asside I really enjoyed it, a great, fun filled action adventure. 8/10

  3. How was your day?

anouther insight into inappropriate girls life "ive given birth twice, it really isnt that bad. i didnt even tear!" there was a look passed between some of the group, then a girl laughed and said my face was priceless, much laughter. i smiled at a girl on the train as i went home, she recoiled in horror. not a good day to be me.
  4. PlayStation 3 Console Discussion

im always happy to play some lbp.
  5. How was your day?

so first day at my new job went well. training facility is a bit out of the way but it's not THAT bad. strange girl who we met for the first time today made everyone feel awkward she was saying about her aranged marrage "we still arnt in love, but the sex is great. we've been married 9 years and still go at it like dogs." i was rather shocked.
  6. Great People

see, i agree with your sentiment (footballers not deserving the accolade of "great people") but if my hobby was science and i perfected cold fusion that would make me great, or if my hobby was writting, and i penned a magnificent book that explores the very nature of what it is to be human, again, id arguably be a great person. i suppose i can see the argument for sportsmen being great, but thier impact on the world is limited, in 1000 years time, we wont rember them. they make a difference to a few, but globaly speaking, most of them are as insignificant as the rest of us
  7. Great People

forget your over paid nancy boys kicking a ball across a lawn, forget your mathematicians wasting thier lives playign with numbers, forget your writters who say so much and do nothing. theres only one man we need respect. MR MIYAGI
  8. Funny videos, flash games, etc

going from the reaction, and the lack of a student standing up and hitting him, id say it wasnt really a student laptop.
  9. Funny videos, flash games, etc

i think it was most likly an old laptop and him making a point and trying too be funny.
  10. Gym?

i was in the gym yesterday, while on the exercise bike, i could see the guy infront of me working on a cross trainer. MC Hammers "cant touch this" came on the music and some how, it synced up perfectly with that guys efforts. i was trying to to burst out laughing the whole time. just a bit gutted that I'll not be able to get to the gym next week as im going to be at work 8 hours a day with 3-4 hours worth of travle.
  11. How was your day?

the mummy returns weeeeeeeell, it was an event i guess. most of the movie was seemingly made for clips to stick in the trailer, had a very dissjointed feel to it. and hollywood, if your reading this, please stop adding kids into films to "liven it up" nobody likes kids and it makes the female lead less attractive as you know shes given birth and her fanny will never be the same. the film itself is camp but enjoyable enough, it has a light hearted famly feel to it that you dont see to much thses days. oh, and i have a slight man crush on brenden fraisure now. he seems like a nice fellow. also, the scorpion king himself is hilarious. id not like to fight the rock, id not like to fight a scorpion, so why is a half the rock half a scorpion monster so funny? 6/10 better then it should be.
  13. How was your day?

it is kinda wierd. its not wrong, but to young lads its obviosuly not usual so its gon na be laughed at. but the stick is just banter, same in any group, it'l be forgotten soon enough.
  14. Sexuality Thread

the outher week i was out with friends, we were meeting a mate of ours who is gay (but hasnt come out to every one yet) and my mate turner let out possibly the funniest sentence ever. "I just don't understand how you can be gay when there are so many fit lasses about" hes a good lad but we dont hang around with him for his intelect.
  15. How was your day?

today i went to the gym, carried a dish washer and made up that i had lost my knife geoffory in the ribs of a stray dog when asked about it by a university friend. this actualy counts as a productive day for me.

assassins creed 2 dlc really enjoyed AC2, so the chance to get a couple of extra hits in appealed to me. havign played both heres what i thought. dlc 1: battle. exactly like a normal mission, lots of fun and a good story running though. the sudden ending was kinda a opain though dlc 2: bonfire. i liked the setting a little more, but the story seemed lacking. the 9 assasinations were varied and fun, with a couple being fairly difficult. the ending was awsome. all in all 7/10 worth the money i paid, but nothing must have about them, also lack of achivments/trophies was odd.
  17. Fallout: New Vegas

they seem unrelated to me, from the information ive read, you should be fine.
  18. How was your day?

bioshock 2 i wasnt the biggest fan of the first bioshock, i think it had been to hyped for me. thats not to say i didnt love it, i just didnt feel it was the revolution i was told to expect. what did blow me away was the twist in the story, i already knew a fair bit of it, yet a certain element left me reeling, trying to reject what id been told but finaly understanding it was a peice of pure genious, a moment that cemented gamings place as a medium for story telling. now, one year after i first went to rapture, im abck. and i love it. the first thing i will say about the game is the atmosphere is increadable. shadows and sound constantly remind you of the twisted world your in, and the clautrophobic environment becomes like a trap, filled with some of the most disturbing creatures in video games. you cant help but notice the love thats gone into creating the world, the broken streets are alive with details, the corpses seem to tell a story, the audio logs reveal details about the world around you. the story is again, one of the games strongest elements. its told through magnificent voice acting, with the majority of cut scenes being done in the half life style, allowing you to focus on what you want.
  25. i like the one where he goes in the ball pit. i didnt want to laugh to hard cos we had the builder in at the time.
