Goafer Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Been listening to a few gaming soundtracks recently and it's a shame more people aren't into gaming. There are some cracking tracks in games most people will miss. Any more?
nightwolf Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I listen to quite a few. I've mostly got Spotify, but: The whole of Red Dead Redemption is fantastic. I also love the start to the Crysis 3 soundtrack (which is on right now in fact.) I have a ton more .
drahkon Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Bation has an amazing soundtrack. Here are my picks. And of course...Metal Gear Solid. Pretty much every song Harry Gregson-Williams composed.
Cube Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Some not-so good games also have brilliant soundtracks

Fierce_LiNk Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Xenoblade. That is all. I'll post some tunes from there later, but there's so many to choose from. Metroid Prime and Super Metroid have some killer tunes. Twilight Princess. Most under-rated and best soundtrack in any Zelda game, imo. (oh, I went there. Peppers angus for onslaught.)
Jonnas Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Seconding Baten Kaitos Best thing about that game. My favourite FF soundtrack is IX, though. Audio Audio Audio Audio But Skies of Arcadia has that cheery, feel-good quality that always puts a smile on your face. Audio Audio Audio And I've been hearing the Civ V OST quite a bit lately. There's so much to love there. Audio Audio Audio Audio
Magnus Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Guys, Shorty said "/thread". Why are you still posting?
The Peeps Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Hotline Miami has a good soundtrack... but I'm at work on my phone so I can't link to it :p
Happenstance Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Hotline Miami has a good soundtrack... but I'm at work on my phone so I can't link to it :p Yep great soundtrack. FTL is another one with a good one that works really well with the gameplay.
drahkon Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) Oh my, can't believe I forgot the Hotline Miami soundtrack. It's fucking amazing. Just remembered: Devil May Cry games have great music, too. Especially the new one. That boss fight. I loved it And then there was Lilith's Club Still don't understand all the hate this game gets. It's freaking awesome. And...you know...Combichrist! Edited September 9, 2013 by drahkon
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) My contribution should come as no surprise: the Ace Attorney series. Simply picking out a selection of the songs is incredibly hard, but here goes. Audio Audio Audio Audio Audio Edited September 8, 2013 by Dannyboy-the-Dane
Serebii Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 The Black 2 & White 2 soundtrack is just amazing. Some examples: Audio Audio Audio Audio Audio And my favourite bit of Pokémon music of all time Audio
nekunando Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 A Gaming Soundtracks thread shouldn't be allowed to pass 10 posts without mention of Streets of Rage 2 AND Donkey Kong Country I'm ashamed of you all!
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) It shouldn't even be necessary to mention Skyrim, but I'm listening to it right now, so here's a select few of my favourites right now. Audio Audio Audio Audio Edited September 8, 2013 by Dannyboy-the-Dane
Ganepark32 Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Seconding Baten Kaitos Best thing about that game. Completely agree about the soundtrack in Baten Kaitos. Thanks to people mentioning it in this thread, I've spent some of the evening listening to it and being reminded how fantastic it is. Probably agree that it is the best thing about the game but I think the whole game in general is brilliant (visuals, gameplay, etc.). Only downside was the difficulty at times meaning some serious grinding (like the fight with Giacomo and Co. in that house or the end game). But damn you and @drahkon for reminding me of the game and making me wish I had the time to play through it again!!! @nightwolf - agree on the Crysis 3 soundtrack. Shame the actual game wasn't that great. Just found most locations too linear with little opportunity for alternate strategies for dispatching enemies. Probably why they included something like the Hunter Bow, although that wasn't anywhere near as visceral to use as people said it was I'll add some of my favourite gaming soundtrack moments later.
Goafer Posted September 8, 2013 Author Posted September 8, 2013 Rock n Roll racing was a corker at the time. First use of "Real" music perhaps?
Agent Gibbs Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Seconding Baten Kaitos Best thing about that game. My favourite FF soundtrack is IX, though. Jonnas Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 People, may I suggest we put youtube videos in spoilers whenever possible? The page takes way too long to load it both when I open it and when I post @Dannyboy\-the\-Dane: How nice of you to add one track from each AA game I'll take this opportunity to say that I've been listening to a few tracks from Dual Destinies and it sounds amazing. So here's one from DD and one from the unlocalized AAI2 Audio Audio
nightwolf Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 @Ganepark32 Oh definitely. I won the game from a YouTuber and am quite glad I didn't pay for it! Other soundtracks.. I can't even tell you how much I adore the Journey game/soundtrack. I wish I could get my mits on a poster to put up in my study.
Ike Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Twilight Princess. Most under-rated and best soundtrack in any Zelda game, imo. (oh, I went there. Peppers angus for onslaught.) Agreed. Thing is I totally forgot about it until I heard the Twilight Princess song on the 25th Anniversary soundtrack. Anyway, the Ys Series has a great soundtrack. Audio Audio Audio Audio Audio Audio Audio I could post a lot more.
Sheikah Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Ah...when that started rolling, you knew it was all going to end in a ketchup fest. Good times.
