Blade Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 So an intellectual property lawyer is the way to go? I might look into that. Are there costs, or do you get them refunded or? And also what would I stand to gain, obviously they stop selling it (you'd hope), but would I get a look at any profit they've been making off me? .. Yeah you will need to instruct a solicitor who specialises in IP. There will be costs and i dont know how much they will charge. I would imagine this would be a simple matter compared to for instance someone using nintendo's intellectual property rights. I dont know where you live so i cant recommend any firms for you. An injunction is a court order to stop something or make something happen. In your case this would be to stop them from selling them. You can also sue them for damages at the very least you should get money they have made from selling them etc and passing them off as their own. Any legal proceedings can be costly but only about 10% of cases go to court anyway. A simple threatening letter may be enough to stop them from doing anything further. Your lawyer will be able to advise regarding costs if you win.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF. I've had so long to do this fucking exam paper, yet here I am, still on page 1, with 30 hours to go. Let it be known the world over that I AM A MASSIVE IDIOT.

Jim Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Hooray, we have been told today that basically our jobs will be moved to Turkey and Romania over the next 6 months, meaning we will lose our jobs. They are currently saying that there will be no redundancies and people will be resourced to different projects... but there is about 150 or so people who will need to be resourced and I don't see that happening. So now the job hunting starts again... yet there doesn't seem to be anything going at all. =( If they cant put you into a different project, will there be a redundancy package offered then?
Iun Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 If they cant put you into a different project, will there be a redundancy package offered then? Redundancy packages usually go with service... one year is the minimum and it's something like a weeks' pay for every year. You only really "hit the jackpot" when you've been working at a place for 20 years or more. That said, it varies from employer to employer.
Eenuh Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 If they cant put you into a different project, will there be a redundancy package offered then? There has been no mention yet of redundancies, but we all know it will happen. And of course no mention of any compensation or whatever. Redundancy packages usually go with service... one year is the minimum and it's something like a weeks' pay for every year. You only really "hit the jackpot" when you've been working at a place for 20 years or more. That said, it varies from employer to employer. I haven't even been in this job for a year yet so my chances of getting anything are very slim. The jobs they will have on other projects will be English speaking ones, so they will of course first offer those to the English people who work here (and they also earn less, so they would be more likely to keep them on as it would cost less money for the company). Someone who has a lot of inside information is saying that the Dutch department will probably be closed down in February/March... =( *stress*
Debug Mode Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Lost my fucking debit card.. I don't know how the fuck I managed it, but it's absolutely no where to be seen. Last transaction was with Nintendo for my 3DS eShop purchases, but I can't see the fucking thing any where. Rung around places I've been to lately to see if it's dropped on the floor or something or been turned in, no dice. Rung up my bank about it, can't send it abroad so it'd have to be sent to my home address and I'd have to wait for it to be forwarded etc, and then that would have my old card cancelled so I hesitantly said I'd just try and search some more because knowing my fucking luck, it'll turn up when it's a dud.
Magnus Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 The woman who writes about video games in my local newspaper doesn't know it, but she's quickly becoming my nemesis. Even more so than the guy who does the page with the comic strips - today, one of the strips had very clearly been cropped from a photo someone had taken of that same comic strip from a magazine/newspaper. This week, she made a list of the ten biggest releases in the first half of the year, and already I was annoyed because she used a picture of Tomb Raider: Legend for Tomb Raider. Then she used the list as a springboard for this week's column. She talked a little about how reboots aren't necessarily a bad thing, and how it's about time that Tomb Raider was finally rebooted, apparently unaware of Legend, despite the picture of it right next to the column. But the best part was when she noted how two of the games on the list were prequels, and hey, wouldn't it be neat to get more prequels? It's always interesting to see what happened before the original game! Personally, she'd love prequels to Uncharted and Dead Space. But yeah, gaming journalism/local newspapers.
MoogleViper Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 My Jayne hat is at my parents', and I couldn't find my other one. Now my ears are cold. I miss my hair.
Guy Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Every time I see a new photo or video of Christopher Lee, my appreciation for him is overwhelmed the terrible reality that he probably won't be with us for much longer.
gaggle64 Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Working a poor job and working towards finishing a Masters should be enough to keep me busy, and it is. Looking for a new job and new place to live shouldn't have to be on top of that but by god if both of those things haven't forced my hand. This isn't a New Year-resolution thing, this is just when my patience happened to run out. Head spinning.
Ashley Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 My favourite colleague left work yesterday, shame to see them go. Now I have nobody at work to talk to about music and art! Oh well, guess it's me next.
Jim Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Had a gigantic drunken tiff with my housemate tonight... Here's hoping it's all forgotten once we arise in the morning :P

Guy Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 I ate too many jam and custard donuts at work today while continuing to contemplate the mortality of Christopher Lee. Not the best day.
Cube Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 I ate too many jam and custard donuts at work today while continuing to contemplate the mortality of Christopher Lee. Not the best day. The dude released a heavy metal EP at the age of 90 and still does acting. I don't think he is mortal.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 The dude released a heavy metal EP at the age of 90 and still does acting. I don't think he is mortal. My friend and I have reached the conclusion that he is a higher being who has descended to Earth for some divine purpose that we are not able to comprehend. As such he will ascend to a higher plane again once he has fulfilled his purpose.
Ashley Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Got four free tickets to see Wreck-It-Ralph and arranged to go with friends this morning. Good thing I've just checked the tickets as it's next Sunday. Would have been pretty awful dragging people out of bed and across London for no reason in this cold. Guess I've now got the whole day to myself. What to do...what to do...?
MoogleViper Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 One of my headlights has blown. Why do they make bulbs so hard to reach. "You're having trouble wedging your hand in the small gap between the headlamp unit and the engine? Well we've also added a plastic strip across the bulbs, just to fuck with you some more." I also have snow in my arse.
Raining_again Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 its a conspiracy so you eventually give up and pay Halfords to install them for you!!!!
MoogleViper Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 its a conspiracy so you eventually give up and pay Halfords to install them for you!!!! I do wonder if they make things deliberately hard so you have to go to a dealer. I managed it in the end. But it shouldn't take me 20 minutes to change a bulb.
