    • Glad I'm not the only one thinking that I suspect Nintendo has sent these out very early as a warning, but without explaining that.
    • I think nowadays it's pretty much only Nintendo games that could get me to spend more than say about 50 quid. Maybe there's a few SpiderMan games I'd pay full price PS5 prices for and GTA6 is another exception I'd go higher on. With Switch 2 I reckon I'd have been willing to pay more for Mario Kart had it of been more expensive. At £100 I'd definitely have bought it, at £150 even I still reckon I'd have gone for it - I know that I'm going to get an insane amount of value out of it even at those prices. The next Mario and Zelda games? Same thing, no issue at all paying £100 for them. The yearly re-release of whatever sports game? I'm probably never going to pay more than £20 for one of those ever again.
    • It's not the mechanics, it's the expression of them. Yeah it's exactly this as it makes it so blatantly obvious where the rip off is taking place. I've only looked at one source as this hasn't really interested me but it's immediately obvious that Nintendo will have something to the effect of "Gliding using an in-game pet as the gliding mechanism" protected and Palworld have... made a system where you glide using an in-game pet as the mechanism - it's as much of a clear cut case as you can get. Yeah they have to be specific, the Tetris case is an interesting one to read up on how it all works.
    • That’s something that Nintendo have generally been pretty good with, the idea of variable game pricing.  Even on Switch, you get physical retail games across the whole spectrum of pricing, from £59.99-£19.99. Hopefully that continues on Switch 2.
    • Man, what a tragic fall from grace for the ISS series. Though of course Konami would go on to far greater success with the Pro Evolution Soccer series (which was birthed from the ISS Pro series on the PS1), it’s such a shame that the mainline ISS series on the N64 died on the grapevine with ISS 2 and 3 (which we’ll see later on).  I always much preferred the arcade style of somewhat unrealistic football, so it was tragic to see it fail to properly make the transition from the N64 to 6th Gen consoles, while the market consolidated almost exclusively into realistic Football Sim titles (which of course coalesced exclusively into just PES and FIFA, before eventually just FIFA/EA Sports FC).
