Sméagol Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 That trailer did nothing for me. I wonder how many of the rumours end up being true though.. At least one of them was confirmed just now.
dazzybee Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Yeah, they stopped filming s couple of weeks ago. Obviously looks amazing, except the voice over, camptastic... If that's the main villain... Hmmm... Almost as bad as bane!
Daft Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 It never really occurred to me until I saw this trailer but Star Wars has never been directed to look like anything but a fucking PowerPoint presentation. This already looks promising with just that in mind. That shot of the Millennium Falcon is brilliant. Got no problem with the voice over. It's a space opera, go home if you don't think it's spot on. But I do think that lightsaber is kind of dumb. But hey, it might be a light-boardsword, which might be cool. Star Wars was dead to me until this teaser, now I am interested. (And thank goodness it was a teaser and not a whole wack of the film like that Avengers 'teaser'.)
D_prOdigy Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 it's so dense, every single image has so many things going on
Wii Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 There wasn't a lot in it for me, some really cool bits but not enough. I suppose they made their point, tease...r.
Ashley Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 I'm in it for this little guy: LOOK AT HIM GO!
gaggle64 Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I do like the little football robot but this really only confirms we shouldn't expect a new Star Wars from JJ, more a Star Wars-themed slurry poured through a funnel.
ReZourceman Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Well that's fine considering Episodes 1,2 and 3 are all pretty meh and Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are fairly good in places. Looking forward to actual talent coming aboard the franchise.
MoogleViper Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 That trailer was insanely bland. Offered absolutely nothing at all, no insights, just a collection of flashy images.
Phube Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 That trailer was insanely bland. Offered absolutely nothing at all, no insights, just a collection of flashy images. Hence the word 'teaser' not trailer...
Agent Gibbs Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I liked the light broad sword I'm hyped but I loved Star Wars all 4 of the good ones (I like to imagine the phantom menace and clone wars were just really long terrible fan faction)
bob Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I liked Clone Wars... The only problem with the light broad sword is that it wouldn't work. The cross beams are supposed to stop opponents swords sliding down the blade. A light sabre would just slice through the metal of the cross beams.
Ronnie Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I love the aesthetic, a million miles from the craptastic OTT/uber-colourful/CGI-fest George Lucas "inspired" prequels. Back to basics, more basic look that fits in perfectly with the original trilogy. Great teaser, it's not supposed to flow, it's supposed to make you want more. The Avengers "teaser" gave away the whole film, even though you can practically write a Marvel superhero storyline in your sleep these days.
Mr-Paul Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 It'd be funny if that new lightsaber wasn't real and just put in to wind up the internet :P (unlikely I know, but it's fun seeing the outrage. I actually quite like it!) Also, if a mod is reading this, can you correct the title please? It makes no sense!
Zechs Merquise Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 it's so dense, every single image has so many things going on Hahaha the prequel trilogy was such utter shite. I remember seeing Lucas saying that very line in the Harry Plinket reviews, god Plinket totally nailed those movies.
Dcubed Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) That trailer looks just like Nu Trek. Not that I don't like Abrams' work, but it doesn't feel like Star Wars at all - not even the classic theme and the trappings do it for me. The cinematography, the fades & cuts, the lighting/colourgrading/colour palette, the special effects, they all scream Abrams - not Star Wars. It's really really obvious if you look past the surface level. I'm even tempted to say that it looks like a total conversion mod of Nu Trek I'll go into this as a fan of Abrams' stuff rather than looking for them to recapture the old feel of Star Wars, because otherwise I reckon I'd be heavily disappointed. Goafer Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 It's got X Wings. I'm happy. Although looking at a screen grab, they've changed the design a bit, notably the split wing instead of 4 full ones. Still awesome though.
