Coolness Bears Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 No Naruto Shippuuden or Limbo? You mad brah? I don't have money to spend on games at the moment. So I've had to be really conservative. Also I don't have my Xbox connected to live at Uni so I can't get me some delicious xbla games!
Ike Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Sorry, can't be bothered to give mini reviews for every game. I haven't listed VC/WiiWare/DSiWare/XBLA/PSN games because I can't remember :P These are all the games that I bought that were released in 2010, I bought some older games this year as well. I've probably missed some. Wii Monster Hunter Tri Sin & Punishment 2: Successor of the Skies Tatsunoko vs Capcom Ultimate All Stars Mario galaxy 2 Metroid Other M Donkey Kong Country Returns Worms Battle Island Rune Factory Frontier DS Ace Attorney: Miles Edgeworth Investigates Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver Sonic Classic Collection WarioWare Do it Yourself Dragon Quest IX Professor Layton and The Lost Future Ivy? The Kiwi? Etrian Odyssey III Final Fantasy 4 Heroes of Light Jam With The Band Infinite Space Xbox Final Fantasy XIII Bayonetta The Sims 3 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Blazblue Calamity Trigger Blazblue Continuum Shift PSP Blazblue Portable Phantasy Star Portable Ys Seven Ys: Oath in Felganha Valkyria Chronicles II PC SEGA All Stars racing SEGA Megadrive Collection Part 1 Not 2010 games, but worth a mention (I think) retro games: Dragon Quest (FC) Dragon Quest II (FC) Dragon Quest III (FC) Dragon Quest V (SFC) Dragon Quest VI (SFC)
dazzybee Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Great thread. I was strict on myself this year after spending thousands in 2009!!! Barely played any of the following games I've bought (not including ipad and iphone games) February Tatsnuoko Vs Capcom Incredible Wii fighting game. March Spectrobes - DS Haven't played it. Still sealed. Selling it. Smackdown - PS3 Played it a couple of times. Good fun in multiplayer. Ninja Gaiden - DS Love this game but only done a couple of levels. Sega Mega Collection - PS3 Bargain for some awesome games but barely played any of it. Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics - Wii Really disappointed with it, loved summer olympics. Turtles Smash Up - Wii Awful awful game. Red Steel 2 - Wii Fantastic game from what I've played. Which is not much. Rock Band 2 - Wii Awesome game. DJ Hero - Wii Great game. Indiana Jones - Wii Haven't played Boy and His Blob - Wii Haven't played April Super Street Fighter 4 - PS3 Amazing game. Monster Hunter 3 - Wii Awesome! GH Modern Hits - DS Haven't played May Wario Ware DIY Incredible if time consuming game! LOVE IT! Wish I spent more time with it. June Another Code - Wii Haven't played Mario Galaxy 2 - Wii Best game ever! Jame With The Band - DS Absolutely love it!! August Sim City Creator - Wii Haven't played SNK Collection - Wii Haven't played October Fifa 11 - PS3 GREAT game. Same old same old. New strips though! And no Grimsby Kane and Lynch 2 - PS3 Haven't played. Only got it because it was cheap with Fifa and was going to sell it straight away to make some money back. TOO LATE! That's depressing getting it all down like that. Haven't played anything really Getting some games for christmas and there's SO many games I haven't got yet - Metroid Other M, Sin and Punishment, Wii Party, Red Dead Redemption, GoldenEye etc etc. Need to get some serious gaming done in 2011!!! Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the standout game of the year though for me.
jayseven Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 It was part of the reason why I made the thread! I look at my shelf and I see at least a dozen, maybe two dozen games that I've bought but not properly played. Having written up my list and evaluated the money spent (it's not as much as I thought), I feel alright. The last game I remember buying as soon as it came out was RE5 -- and that was part of my red console bundle! I may be forgetting a game somewhere. Perhaps if I bought games on release date I'd be more selective (there's pros and cons to that argument), and maybe I'd spend more time on each one. I don't do trade-ins - I'm not going to get much for a game that cost me £5 in the first place - but I really should consider renting. My main issue with that is that you're pretty much guarenteed x amount is coming out of your account each month. I don't think I'd operate very well. What I really should do is get swapping with mates! I know of maybe 5 people with xboxes here. Ramble ramble!
Ganepark32 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 And deep breath.... Wii Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars Little King Story Spyborgs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash Up Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Punch-Out No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon Red Steel 2 Monster Hunter Tri Sin and Punishment 2 New Super Mario Bros. Wii Super Mario Galaxy 2 Metroid: Other M GoldenEye 007 Sonic Colours Disney Epic Mickey Donkey Kong Country Returns A Shadow’s Tale Megaman 10 (WiiWare) Art Style Light Trax (WiiWare) Jett Rocket (WiiWare) Muscle March (WiiWare) Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 (WiiWare) Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (VC) 360 Bayonetta (x2) Darksiders Mass Effect 2 Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Bioshock 2 Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Splinter Cell Conviction Alan Wake The Saboteur F1 2010 Halo: Reach Medal of Honor Rock Band 3 Call of Duty: Black Ops Fable 3 Splosion Man (XBLA) Super Meat Boy (XBLA) Chime (XBLA) Perfect Dark (XBLA) PS3 Final Fantasy XIII Red Dead Redemption Modnation Racers DS Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes Pokemon HeartGold Last Window: The Secret of Cape West Super Scribblenauts That's all I can remember as I've also received a hell of a lot of game for reviewing. I'm sure I'm forgetting some games but I can't honestly remember. As it is though, that's a hell of a lot of games and perhaps too much for one year.
Grazza Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Super Mario Galaxy 2 Great game, slightly better than the first, but I'd be fonder of it if I could get the 242nd Star. Dragon Quest IX I've been playing this since it was released and I doubt I'll put anything else in my DS for a year. It's a superb RPG, best I've played on the DS, but not a worthy sequel to VIII. Metroid: Other M Only just started playing this. It's good. At first, the controls seemed terrible, but I'm getting used to them.
Dog-amoto Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 PS3 Uncharted 1 and 2 Ratchet and Clank (2 games, not sure which ones as they are still in the cellophane!) Killzone 2 Xbox Fallout New Vegas Red Dead Redemption Halo Reach Dead Rising 2 Left 4 Dead 2 DS Scribblenauts (not played it yet!) Wii Mario Galaxy 2 Metroid Prime Trilogy Metroid Other M (not played yet) And a bunch of iPhone and XBLA games That's all I can think of right now
jayseven Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 How much do you guys spend? What sort of proportion of your income is it?
Arnieboy Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Wii Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Awesome game from beginning to end Goldeneye 007 - Brilliant shooter, best shooter on the wii that i've played. Super Mario Allstars - Shame there isn't more games on the disc but the history book and soundtrack make up for it, was cheap too. Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies - Good game, need to play it more. Monster Hunter Tri - Ashamed to say i haven't played it yet, but i've heard very good things about it Xbox360 Red Dead Redemption - Brilliant game, much better than GTA4 Halo Reach - My personal favourite of the Halo games, so much to do and it's all good. Good story too, but not everyone thinks so it seems Rock Band 3 - Probably the best rock band game, great soundtrack and gameplay. It's just a shame the music game genre isn't selling well anymore Super Street Fighter 4 - Good game, i'm just shit at it! DS Dragon Quest 9 - Good rpg, but i personally enjoy Final Fantasy games more, story is too simple for my liking, but the enemies such as the slimes add great personality to this game, must finish it sometime PS3 Final Fantasy 13 - Without a doubt, my favourite game released this year. Great story, good music and good gameplay. It's such a shame this game has so many flaws such as the lack of the classic victory fanfare, bad ending and the lack of world maps/airships/shops. Still i spent hours on this. Call of Duty: Black Ops - The best CoD i've played, loved the story and dead ops arcade was a fantastic surprise Modnation Racers - Big disappointment, it's no mario kart, rather just a bland kart racer with track and kart editting tools. Commentary is quite funny in places Gran Turismo 5 - Great and disappointing at the same time. I burned out on this playing it solid for a week. The same good old GT gameplay mixed with long loading times, a soundtrack which isn't as good as it's predecessors and a levelling system which really annoyed me. Still a great game though
Cube Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 How much do you guys spend? What sort of proportion of your income is it? I haven't worked it out. And I really don't want to.
dazzybee Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 I can work it out exactly as I do accounts for EVERY transaction I ever do. I've spent just over £500 this year on games. Last year I spent £1800 on games...
Ramar Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Xbox 360 Final Fantasy XIII Red Dead Redemption Halo Reach Fifa 11 F1 2010 Rock Band 3 DS Pokémon Heart Gold PC World of Warcraft Cataclysm That's all I can think of which is more than a bit shocking, surely I've bought more games than that.. I know I've asked for 3 or 4 games for Christmas so hopefully by the end of the year my list won't be so pathetic.
Shorty Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 How much do you guys spend? What sort of proportion of your income is it? Lets take my list Xbox 360 Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - free with £25 magazine subscription Mass Effect 2 - Got a good price from Amazon, but they were slow and I was so desperate I cancelled and paid full whack with GAME for faster delivery Sonic the Hedgehog 4 - Hugely overpriced Trials HD - 400 points on Black Friday Lara Croft Guardian of Light - 800 points, great game though Call of Duty Black Ops - £33 from Shopto, big waste of money Vanquish - £9.99 Black Friday Deal Halo: Reach - Bought full price on release Naruto Shippuuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 - £40 special edition, but sold original edition for £38 after buying for £33 so... feel like I got a deal there Mafia II - Gift Scott Pilgrim - Can't remember how many MS points, too many Toy Story 3 - Bought full whack, impulsively in Tesco just for the co-op goodness. Great game, hefty £39 high street price tag Red Dead Redemption - Don't actually remember buying this... Limbo - 800 points I think? but well worth it Darksiders - Can't remember where I got this... Perfect Dark - Bargain at 800 points Final Fantasy XIII - Worst purchase of the year, barely played, but probably paid £40 for Bayonetta - Full price at £39.99 but used a GAME voucher got for b-day and gained reward points PS3 God of War Collection - about £22 from Canada, steal for two awesome games Orange Box - In a sweet deal for about a tenner IIRC God of War III - Gift Wii Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Who cares how much this cost??? DS Pokemon Soul Silver - Full retail price, played it for about 80 hours though I use quidco to save an average of 6-10% on each game and always scour for vouchers. Looking at my list I guess I tend to pay about 75% in total of the full retail price of all the games - roughly £30. 22 games in the list makes £12.71 a week. Not a lot of my salary for something I love doing
jayseven Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 For some reason I have a vague possible memory that you said you borrowed Darksiders off Dan/someone at work or something. Perhaps dreamt it. In one of my more thrilling dreams, of course. Conservative estimate of £235 for 22 games is equal to... £4.50 a week. Shorty - if we combine smoking and gaming then we spend the same amount every week! :P Technically a fair proportion of my 'salary' mind you!
arnold Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Not that many for me, not much money so I hope most are on the PC and in Steam sales Beat Hazard GTA San Andreas Just Cause 2 L4D2 Poker Night at the Inventory All those are Steam Purchases Street Fighter 4 Costume Quest Fifa 09 (it's the same as all the others and I wanted a Fifa game) Red Dead Redemption BLOPS Pokemon SS and HG Think that's it.
Shorty Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 For some reason I have a vague possible memory that you said you borrowed Darksiders off Dan/someone at work or something. Perhaps dreamt it. In one of my more thrilling dreams, of course. No I definitely bought it, but I don't have any e-trail so I'm guessing I bought it in-store somewhere. I want to know now... According to my bank statement I spent £39.99 at GAME in October 2009 so I'm going to guess that was it. ... Which means it didn't belong in this list in the first place.
gaggle64 Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Mass Effect 2 (360), Okami(Wii), Elite Beat Agents(DS), RISK:Factions(XBLA) F1 2010 (360), FIFA 08 (360). In that order. I have absolutely no idea how some of you find either the time, the money or the time to make the money required for all of your purchases. I think time & numerics must work differently where I live. Which would actually explain a few other things around here.
Noodleman Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 360 Halo Reach - Underwhelming, although technically good it was all a bit meh. Assassins Creed: Brotherhood - Pretty awesome Rock Band 3 - Uber PS3 Batman Arkham Asylum - Quite fun, should probably finish it at some point. Uncharted - Good but I ruined it by playing the 2nd one first I imagine Uncharted 2 - Red Dead Redemption - Excellent although it starts to get a bit repetitive, should check out the undead nightmare at some point. F1 2010 - Pretty good effort at a F1 game Heavy Rain - Really cool, great story. Have no desire to play through it again though.
nightwolf Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I hardly get the chance to at uni, you'd think I would, but noooo. Left 4 Dead 2 Dead Rising 1 Bayonetta Fable 3 Red dead redemption Bioshock Final Fantasy 14 Wow: Cataclysm I think there's a couple of others, but nothing majorly substantial.
Eenuh Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Wii Super Mario Galaxy 2 (still haven't even played it) Boy and his Blob (cheap on amazon) DS Sonic Classic Adventures (only tried some of the first game... didn't enjoy it) Wario Ware DIY (didn't play this too much) Chibi Robo: Park Patrol (second hand) That's not that much heh. Two cheap games and then three new games, of which I haven't touched one (and barely touched the others). Think I got a game or two as birthday presents, but yeah. Short list. =(
Emerald Emblem Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) Wow, um I'm not sure I remember every game I've bought this year, but here goes. PS3: Atelier Rorona BlazBlue Calamity Trigger Blazblue Continuum Shift CoD: Black Ops Disgaea 3 F1 2010 Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 Super Street Fighter 4 (Haven't touched...On my console anyway) The Sims 3 Trinity Universe Uncharted (Traded in Final Fantasy XIII) Xbox 360: Halo Reach FIFA 11 DS: Pokemon Soul Silver Go! Go! Cosmo Cops! Golden Sun: Dark Dawn (Traded in Dragon Quest IX) Wii: Tatsunoko vs Capcom Sky Crawlers Guilty Gear XX Accent Core GBA (Yeah, that's right) Golden Sun That's all I Remember. Ganepark32 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Off topic yes but what did you think of this? I've seen it dirt cheap in several places and have been considering picking it up to provide some further fighting games to my Wii library.

I've seen it dirt cheap in several places and have been considering picking it up to provide some further fighting games to my Wii library. Well, I've gotta say, I didn't really like it. I mean the combo lists were difficult to understand, there are a few disturbing characters and after playing Blazblue, this game just seems awful in comparison.
