Jimbob Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 What......... I honestly cannot believe this, this guy is a true comic legend. The Naked Gun movies are probably, if not the best i've seen (comedy-wise). Shite, this has to be one of the only celebrity deaths this year that i actually give a damn about. R.I.P Leslie Nielson, you are a legend in the eyes of everyone who has eyes. Edit: Must buy Airplane at the next opportunity i have. This is the only movie i am missing, already own the 3 Naked Gun movies and Wrongfully Accused.
ShadowV7 Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Damn this is really sad news. Woke up to find out about this. Absolutely loved him in the movies he was in. R.I.P I think i'll be having a Naked Gun marathon.
Beast Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I can't believe this! This is so sad! I'm in shock! R.I.P Leslie Nielsen, you'll never be forgotten!!! I think I'm going to watch Airplane and Naked Gun tonight.
jayseven Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Dracula: Dead and Loving lt and Spy Hard are worth a watch, too. Don't forget Airplane 2: The Sequel, you can get both in a little set for dirt cheap. No doubt HMV will be pushing the neilsen stuff. Went on his IMDB page and he's done a shit-tonne of stuff. Sure, I recall seeing him on things like Columbo and stuff but never really stopped to think how long his career's been. So much of it was beyond my era that essentially it's just a handful of films - but arguably very important spoofs, they were.
darksnowman Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Bollocks to this. I thought I heard them say this on the radio this morning but it was literally as soon as I was taking the keys out of the ignition so I hoped I misheard. Wikipedia confirmed my fears.
killer kirby Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 And now news is about that Irvin Kershner has passed as well >_< So...who's next?
nekunando Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I'm definitely gonna be going through a lot of his films in the run up to Christmas. I loved the Naked Gun films and Spy Hard when I was growing up I encourage everyone to have a spray of this today in memory of Leslie Nielson..
gaggle64 Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 God dammit. I did not get up at 7am to spend six hours inside what amounts to a giant refrigerator to come back to this balls. Because that's what this is. Balls.
Paj! Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I'm not suprised...he was pretty old. I haven't seen much by him, but he seemed entertaining in the bits of Naked Gun I'd seen.
ReZourceman Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I'm not suprised...he was pretty old. I haven't seen much by him, but he seemed entertaining in the bits of Naked Gun I'd seen. And Airplane!....you've.....you've seen Airplane! ?
Jimbob Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 And Airplane!....you've.....you've seen Airplane! ? I'll go out of my way to find anyone who hasn't seen Airplane, and see to it they do.
Cube Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I'll go out of my way to find anyone who hasn't seen Airplane, and see to it they do. ... Well... I should probably get round to watching it, shouldn't I?
Happenstance Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I do feel like not having watched Airplane before should be a bannable offense.
Jimbob Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 ... Well... I should probably get round to watching it, shouldn't I? That would be an exceptional idea that.
Jon Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 He also appears in a few early episodes of Due South. Seriously gutted about this, has always been one of my favourite actors.
jayseven Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 dr4khon (or however); he died on the 28th, so while this birthday has been tarnished your remaining ones will be pure
Jimbob Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 For those interested, Airplane! is available for only £2.99 on Amazon.
Paj! Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I'll buy it when I get money. It better be up my alley. I've heard good things, but not from people who I feel are truly in line with my views on funny things.
Dan_Dare Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 It's the single funniest film of all time.
Oxigen_Waste Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 It's the single funniest film of all time. No, Dan. Holy Grail is.
