Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) Phew, had a long day today. Met my new English and Danish teachers. Finished school at 2:10 PM, waited till 3 for my two friends to finish (I didn't mind, I finished the first book of the Aenid of which I have to make a short presentation on Friday), then the two of us helped the third carry a desk up to her apartment. Then we chilled for a bit, only to realise perhaps a bit too late that we probably should get going home, as we all had some homework to do till tomorrow. Upon returning home at about 6 o'clock, I relaxed a bit before doing Greek while my parents had friends over for card night. Then I took a break at 9 to watch Mythbusters and resumed my homework at 10. My assignment in English was to write approximately a page about my relationship with English and my expectations for the future in that department. Like it's almost customary for me, I ended up turning a relatively simple assignment into a semi-philosophical musing over why I love English and classical philology. Oh well, I was happy with the result. Now that I'm done for tomorrow, I plan on relaxing a bit before probably falling asleep in front of the TV watching Discovery Channel like I always do. I just can't sleep if the TV isn't running. Edited August 12, 2009 by Dannyboy-the-Dane
Happenstance Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Wow thats mental. Did you know about this all? Yep, just hadnt really mentioned it apart from to a few people as apparently my family werent sure how they were going to be portrayed in it. They're all happy enough with it now though.
Paj! Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 YOU'RE RELATED TO SAMANTHA!? Seriously though, that's cool/interesting. I meant to watch that episode, will do at some point.

Its really not as interesting as you might think though. I have been invited to zero Hollywood parties so far :p
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I had another pr0 fit today, and instead of phoning in sick like I should've I decided to go in anyway. Which was probably for the best since my coworker is a lazy tool, enhanced more by him leaving the bar to watch England, on top of going into the back to read the paper, during my shift I'd say I served 80% of people. As such I'm very knackered and I know the moment I get into bed I'll be wide awake.
Jimbob Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 A quite enjoyable day. Got woken up by 2 butterflies flying into my blinds. Watched a bit of TV downstairs, did some job search and chilled watching the Kane DVD much of the day.
Chris the great Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 play poker at work today, that was great. my mate bought a cuddely head crab, which was pretty geeky, but also cool. to be honest, i don't mind if people see me as geeky or wierd there, id rather be one of the geeks then hide myself. girl at work, god shes easy to read. so flirty when she wants somthing, pretty distant outherwise. she'l be in town on saterday when i am, see how she acts when drunk! that makes me sound kinda rapey. got an email on amazon from people i sold a book to a while ago, they seem to think im a specialist military history book seller, which was funny. and then i got here and thats about it. oh, also, i bought edge today, i dont think i will again, its a very dull issue and they are just pretentious now.
Goafer Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Ugh. Bed at midnight, woke up at 4. Should have a rad day though. Meeting Happenstance and another friend in town, then to Oxford for Nandos and Bill Bailey. Win.

Meeting Happenstance and another friend in town, then to Oxford for Nandos and Bill Bailey. Win. I had Nandos last night, my god it was awesome! As I said to my pop when we went the other day - "The day you have a bad meal at Nandos is the day the world ends." Just epic mealage.
Eenuh Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Bit pissed off at the moment. First of all that tiny wound on my leg still won't close up. I tried to see with some tweezers and a needle if there was anything still in there but it's impossible to tell. Why can't it just heal already? >( Secondly, got a paper from the post office to say they got a package for me waiting there, which I assume is my Kirby game. However, they are wanting me to pay 10 euro taxes, which I think is absolute bullshit. The website never mentioned anything about taxes (don't think I had to pay that last time I used them). I feel like complaining about it but don't know how. Grah.

Grah.Did you order it from abroard?... if so am I right in thinking there's some sort of random taxing thing, where random goods are chosen at the airport to pay tax? I ordered something from China on ebay, and they said on the listing about them not being responsible should the item be chosen for tax or something along those lines.

I ordered it from Video Games Plus (Canada), but nowhere on the site do they say you could be taxed on your purchases or anything along those lines. I could've gotten the game for so much cheaper from other sites, probably without having to pay extra taxes and shipping costs. So annoyed now.
Dan_Dare Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Pretty fuckin good day! I just got accepted on the MA in Magazine Journalism at Sheffield. YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEESSSSSS!
Coolness Bears Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Pretty fuckin good day! I just got accepted on the MA in Magazine Journalism at Sheffield. YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEESSSSSS! NICE ONE! Yesterday was exhausting! I was an Usher at work and had to clean up the screens up after each performance! People make such a mess. I wonder why some people order popcorn half of it is on the floor or there are just boxes of Popcorn still completely full! Someone had taken in Rasberries which were hard to clean up. Apart from that I found two umbrella's, a toy dog, headband and a coat. All put into lost property of course. I also had to deliver hot dogs to people who were hard to find in the dark of the cinema screen! Also during G.I. Joe I ha to move some people and I pretty much disrupted the whole thing. :p
Daft Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Just came back from the osteopath. Even she says I need a holiday. Also, just read a lol worthy comment, Today, I found out that I was adopted, now my gay brother thinks it's acceptable to tell me that he's always wanted to have sex with me. FML Comment: its called incest Response: it's called Wincest 'Wincest'. lol.

I don't know about Belgium but here there's a limit to what you'll pay. Try checking your customs website.
Eenuh Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 How much was it? I don't know about Belgium but here there's a limit to what you'll pay. Try checking your customs website. They're having me pay €10, while the game itself (including shipping) cost me about €28. =/ And I have no idea where to check for the normal prices on this stuff; no idea if there even is a site that has the info (google so far hasn't been able to help me). Also, congrats to you Dan Dare, well done.
Daft Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Pretty fuckin good day! I just got accepted on the MA in Magazine Journalism at Sheffield. YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEESSSSSS! Yeah, just read on facebook! Well f*cking done!!
Ganepark32 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Parents are off to another cat show tomorrow so I have the house all to myself this weekend Erm... today, so far, I've finished my write up on the latest Harry Potter game for the Wii ('tis not bad actually) and have done little else. Trying to sort stuff out as I'm heading to Edinburgh tomorrow for the interactive festival thing. Getting to play the likes of EyePet and New Super Mario Bros. Wii so that should be fun. Not sure how much or what else will be there but I'm sure I'll find something to entertain me.

Yesterday wasn't too bad, went to the bank and got it all sorted, went out and did stuff, went to the pub with jayseven and mr. dan dare. Nothing too special! Woke up with a massive headache and took my friend to the post office. Going to do nothing the rest of the day woot.
Retro_Link Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Parents are off to another cat show tomorrow Umm... what? Like Crufts for cats?
Ganepark32 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Don't know if you could call it Crufts for cats. Never been to any of the shows they go to. Only get told, in excurciating detail, some of the stuff that happened. And apart from that all I know is that one of my cats is regional champion/double grand champion or something. I just phase out whenever it's mentioned. Still, empty house. :awesome:
MoogleViper Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I've just added another stick of RAM, yet my vista rating has gone from 4.8 to 4.7. Anyone know why?
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Pretty fuckin good day! I just got accepted on the MA in Magazine Journalism at Sheffield. YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEESSSSSS! I could've gotten the game for so much cheaper from other sites, probably without having to pay extra taxes and shipping costs. So annoyed now. I've ordered a few things from VGP and I haven't been taxed on any yet. Did they mark on the package that it was a gift? After knowing that my Pokémon decks are all fucking illegal, I'll have to research the ones that are legal, found this site which has them all, along with pretty pictures: http://www.pokegym.net/tower/
Molly Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Pretty fuckin good day! I just got accepted on the MA in Magazine Journalism at Sheffield. YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEESSSSSS! How's your back feeling then, is holistic treatment the way forward? :p
