EEVILMURRAY Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I shall harass the YouTube tomorrow. Prommie. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels I fucking love this film. Funny lines, serious danger of fingers being removed and Jason Statham. I watched it last night and the night before. I am tempted to watch it again, but I'm resisting. I prefer this to Snatch, which I think means I'm in the slight minority. Gringos? Ten Shabbas
S.C.G Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Death proof meh. 5/10 You didn't find it entertaining then? that's a shame :/ tbh I probably won't watch it again but I found it very enjoyable for what it was.
Chris the great Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 You didn't find it entertaining then? that's a shame :/ tbh I probably won't watch it again but I found it very enjoyable for what it was. it was neither enjoyable nor unenjoyable. i was mildly entertained, i kinda liked the way it was paced, and loved the bit when the girl pulled out her mobile and i was like OHHHHH, its set nowerdays! dialouge was pretty standard tarentino, which, frankly, is kinda boring to me now, its just people being that pissy and awkward, for a long time. could have done with anouther crash or two. still, for a wednessday night midnight film it could have been worse.
S.C.G Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Fair comments, I rather enjoy Tarantino's style and he doesn't release that many films so I just enjoy them when I get around to watching the latest one, I do agree that if it had been longer and had more crashes in then it could have been better though, loved the bit at end.
Noodleman Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Planet Terror >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Death Proof. 1 1/2 hours of zombies and explosions and awesomeness or 1 1/2 hours of Tarrantinos foot fetish. No question imo. I am stupidly hyped for inglorious basterds though.
S.C.G Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I am stupidly hyped for inglorious bastards though. What is this you speak of? A new Tarantino film? if so then this is most relevant to my interests...
ReZourceman Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Tarantino. Brad Pitt. Nazis. AKA MEGAWHYNZAPH0N!
S.C.G Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Ty for that short synopsis Rez, it does sound potentially epic.
Fierce_LiNk Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I've always found Tarantino to be very, very hit and miss. I absolutely hated and loathed his script for True Romance, but you have to look at some of the other things that he has done and credit him for that. My old housemate was a big geek for Tarantino, and just really went over the top for his love for him. I remember the first time we watched Kill Bill together...I felt a bit dirty, it was almost like watching porn with him, for him.
Wesley Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Tango and Cash Er.../10 Perfect blend of bad acting (at times it seems like Sly can't even be bothered to act), awful script and 80s cheese.
Chris the great Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 i like tarantino, pulp fiction, resivour dogs and kill bill are all happily sat in my DVD collection, and watched fairly regularly. i guess death proof was just a little too off beat for me. that said, all movies should have a similar "the end" shot. it was brill. inglorious bastardes looks pretty damn awsome, nazis make any film better.
Paj! Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I've only seen Kill Bill Pt1, unless Planet Terror is by him? Or is that Robert Rodriguez? I loved Planet Terror. Kill Bill was alright.
Cube Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I've only seen Kill Bill Pt1, unless Planet Terror is by him? Or is that Robert Rodriguez? I loved Planet Terror. Kill Bill was alright. Planet Terror is Rodrigues. I've seen Kill Bill Pt1 (was pretty good) and Death Proof (was extremely dull).
Wesley Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Transformers 2. -100/10. Utter shit. I'm questioning everything I know in my meaningless life.
Eenuh Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Coraline I liked it. =) Loved the style of the film so much, and made me laugh a few times as well. Should've been longer thoughhhh, didn't want it to end yet, heh. But yes, enjoyed it. ^____^
Ganepark32 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Insomnia I loved this when I watched it for the first time a few years back so I was excited to see BBC 1 were showing it. But watching it again it left me indifferent. I think there was great premise in the story but I don't think they nailed it. I mean, Pacino is suffering from insomnia right from the beginning of the film yet it's not until later that it become significant. It should be significant from the start and should have had more of an effect on him. I will say though that Robin Williams does an alright job outside of his more staple comedy role but Hilary Swank is average at best. She doesn't provide a believable enough character or performance given the subject of the film. She seems rather out of place. And the ending wasn't done too well. I can understand finishing it that way but there's still more story that's needs completing. Personally, like I've mentioned, I'd liked to have seen a greater focus on how the lack of sleep was playing on Pacino's character and how his attitude and mistakes were affecting those around him. But overall, it's not a bad film as I sort of enjoyed it. Its just that things could have been done much better. 7 out of 10

I can't even put to words how much I liked it. I seem to have a problem of only describing things I hate and not those I love.

I prefer this to Snatch, which I think means I'm in the slight minority. Gringos? Nope - I prefer Lock Stock too. Tighter script, in my opinion, and without a bradd pitt, the cast feels more even and Vinnie Jones doesn't come across amateur as I thought he did in Snatch. The soundtrack is way better too.

That makes 3 of us. Except for the Brad Pitt remark, he was perfect in Snatch.
Razz Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I've only seen Kill Bill Pt1, unless Planet Terror is by him? Or is that Robert Rodriguez? I loved Planet Terror. Kill Bill was alright. Volume II walks all over Volume I.
Konfucius Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Transformers 2. -100/10. Utter shit. I'm questioning everything I know in my meaningless life. Did you see the first one, and if so how bad is it compared to it?
jayseven Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 That makes 3 of us. Except for the Brad Pitt remark, he was perfect in Snatch. I never said he wasn't perfect - I think he knows what roles he can act and he chooses wisely - I just think for this film his appearance at all distracted from other characters. It over. While Jason Statham is confident in himself, I think pitted with the character of Tommy he didn't shine enough, considering he ought to be more of a central character than Pitt's was. Lock stock's odd thumb is Vinnie, for his career as a footballer certainly weighs heavy over his appearance (at least, to british viewers), but it gives the movie the 'british' tone that helps it feel like a movie that isn't merely imitating american mafia movies.
EEVILMURRAY Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 It over. While Jason Statham is confident in himself, I think pitted with the character of Tommy he didn't shine enough But what about Mickey, who Brad Pitt played?
Daft Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 What a f*cking surprise. I was expecting absolute droll. I thought it was excellent. I thought from the trailer it was meant to be a comedy. Really good twist on the whole superhero thing. 8.5/10
