  1. Pokémon Sun/Moon

    Recycling jokes I see? Cheap.
  2. Same-Sex Marriage

So with this being in the news at the moment due to the government's current consultation on its introduction, I thought it'd be interesting to have a bit of a debate on it, and to see what everyone thinks. Obviously a lot/most of the press surrounding this has been on those against the idea such as CoE's John Sentamu and the Catholic Church's Keith O'Brien's somewhat scathing attacks. What does the word marriage mean to you? What do you think about it being redifined? I'm withholding my opinion for now, but please do share your thoughts.
  3. good stuff thread.

Congrats Eenuh! The good - I have a place on a master's in LONDON for September. YES. The bad - revision.
  4. It's that time of year again where the 80s power anthems come out to help me revise/get through days on end in the library. Halp may keep mahself tew-gheee-heee-thaaarr.
  5. DmC: Devil May Cry

Well, I'm just going to take a cold shower followed by some self-flagellation. Known sexual deviant indeed. I think Dante was looking tired for a long time, a welcome change if you ask me. I hope the gameplay feels reinvigorated because I was getting boooored with DMC4 very quickly.
  6. good stuff thread.

Had a nice evening with Ashley and Daft on the Southbank. Very warm and there was a saxophone in the background honking away, it was quite lovely!
  7. Happy Pi Day!

Today is the 14th of March which makes it, if you're more Americanly inclined, 3/14 or 3.14...... So today celebrate a fabulous number a lot of us probably don't appreciate fully. It really is quite magical. Pi Enjoy and spread the circular love! Audio

So....you're telling us you have no nipples?
  9. Same-Sex Marriage

I know bob's joking, but I do think it's important to stress here - No one is asking for anything more than marriage between loving, consenting adults in this civil marriage bill.
  10. I like Jónsi. Listening is like washing your face with ice cold water. That film looked suspect though, just saying :P
  11. Same-Sex Marriage

The government's consultation survey on civil marriage is now online here. Please take part and give your opinion, whatever it may be.
  12. Post your Cooking!

Pancakes with blueberry compote and greek yoghurt. I love making pancakes, there's something really satisfying about making a perfect looking stack of them.
  13. good stuff thread.

Yes! I love it. I read the first book and am reading the second and it's a nice adaptation. Also, I love Catelyn's face, she's so nice to look at. And Daenerys, damn.

  15. good stuff thread.

I handed in my dissertation and other pieces of coursework and my university education from here on in ceases!.....Except the 6 exams I have to sit in May. But still, I'm an uncaged bird and it feels great! I'm now in two minds, either go out tonight or stay in and just chiiillll. I'm happy enough just to have the choice to be fair.
  16. I liked Tori's cover from last tour of Live To Tell so I checked out the Madonna one and it was nice, it's on a playlist now and comes out when I need it. ----- This came on shuffle today on the bus and I lolled because it sounds so much like Steve's tennis moan on American Dad.
  17. I just watched the video again to the original Rubberband Girl and it was much more fun.
  18. Same-Sex Marriage

I do see your point, I was expecting at least some negativity in this thread and am quite pleasantly surprised to find the contrary.
  19. I know a massive twat who's actually called Starbuck and I'm sure he's loving this. I don't really like Starbucks anyway so I'm not bothered. Although once they gave me a free drink voucher because they couldn't make me a hot chocolate for some reason, that was pretty nice. There're tonnes of nicer independent places in Brighton anyway so I just go there, they're normally friendlier as well.
  20. The Irrepressibles - In This Shirt Can't remember where I heard it but it's nice. And lol at the preview - it gives the wrong impression.
  21. Same-Sex Marriage

I agree. I mean that's just hardcore Old Testament drivel and its from where a lot of picking and choosing gets done to suit one's need. The good stuff, and the stuff that a lot of Christians seem to love to forget is the New Testament's message of forgiveness and grace. Now I wouldn't call myself a Christian but I have a knowledge of the bible and probably more-so than those who claim righteousness. And trust me I've met a lot of so-called Christians who are severely lacking in the grace department.
  22. Same-Sex Marriage

Well if you're wearing a cotton blend t-shirt and are chowing down on shrimp you're a filthy filthy bitch in the eyes of the Lord. Oh and you know that whole part on how best to treat your slaves? Loved that part.
  23. Same-Sex Marriage

Well that's the thing, they're basically saying that single parents are somehow not good parents. What also riles me is that they can claim marriage has sanctity yet it's fine for a gold digging whore (male or female, take your pick) to remarry 6 or 7 times as and when suits the current season. Bullshit.
  24. Same-Sex Marriage

I said I'd give my opinion after a while, and I didn't expect such a reply so quickly, so here it is: For Cardinal O'Brien to say that plans for same-sex marriage is "a grotesque subversion of a universally accepted human right" is as laughable as it is contradictory and I don't really think this comment needs much more examning. I mean, he said it himself, "human right". Furthermore, for him to suggest that same-sex marriage would further "deprive a child of either a mother or a father." is plain ludicrous and more-so insulting, that as part of an institution responsible for the vile and systemic abuse of children by priests which the Catholic Church has actively tried to cover up, somehow having two fathers would bring us to the verge of an apocalypse. The rampantly religious are not only showing themselves to be backwards, but the entire argument also reeks of hypocrisy it'd make Jesus himself weep. For John Sentamu the Archbishop of York to put out the idea that the introduction of same-sex marriage would be wrong because of "centuries old tradition", well as a black man in a high position you'd think that he'd appreciate discrimination when he saw it. Alas no. (I should also point out that yes, I believe this to be a civil rights issue much like race was in the 60s.) Anyway I applaud the governments efforts so far, I just hope religious lobbyists fall at the first hurdle, which if they keep us this shrill and revealing tirade of intolerance and authoritarianism, might just happen. The point I don't get is that, if you are against gay marriage, how about you don't marry someone of your same sex? That way everybody wins and you can go fuck off and be miserable elsewhere. EDIT:
