Spirited Away

I had an urge to watch this over the past couple of days. Not sure why. I think it's a bit weird how they show the sister to be the opposite of Yobaba [nice n' shit] yet before she was as much of a bitch. Either way, pr0 animation, and with Michael Chiklis in, makes it sexy.

The last few days.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

While I actually enjoyed the first one, everything about this one was extremely boring.

4/10

Superbad

McLovin's parts were funny, the rest wasn't that great.

7/10

Knocked Up

Fairly entertaining but not that great. Gets and extra point for Alan Tudyk.

7/10

National Treasure

A lot better than the second one (yes, I saw the second one first). Plot was good, and the amount of action was great for a film like this (not too much, not too little).

8/10

Quantum of Solace

The most disappointing thing about QoS is that it just seemed like it wanted to imitate the Bourne films, and in doing so lost all the charm of the previous Bond movies. I loved Casino Royale, and I liked how it was still a Bond film, whilst still being completely different, but TBH, I can't say the same thing for Quantum.

One thing I will give it, though, are the action sequences, which were all brilliant, if a little front loaded with a bit at the end; but at the end of it all, it was disappointingly two notches lower than Casino Royale.

It was still good, but I went in expecting The Empire Strikes Back, but it ended up as Return of the Jedi.

A somewhat generous 7/10

Hey, I will not hear a bad word sad against Return of the Jedi.

Those fluffy Ewoks. :weeps:

Anyway, I saw Eagle Eye with a special lady, and we both picked fun out of it, haha.

Basically, it was a really ordinary film. The action scenes featured about 101 different camera angles, and it kept flashing so much that I think it almost brought on a seizure. The storyline just seemed very...I dunno, not original. The acting was alright. Altogether, I guess that, by definition, this was just an average film. What made it worthwhile was that I had somewhere there to laugh at it with.

There were some good ideas here, but they've been done more effectively before, and in better movies. Hal from 2001, anyone? The mainframe from I, Robot?

Pretty in Pink

Wow I'm glad I didn't grow up in the 80's.

Problem with John Hughes films; he (arguably) created the genre but know it all seems so cliched.

Although I fail to see how apparently three guys (although granted, one was blatantly gay) were in love with Molly Ringwald.

Mr & Mrs Smith

Seen it before but after watching it again last night on tele i remembered how great it is. It's so funny and tongue in cheek. I just love the whole idea and it makes for so many great small moments as well as the big plot turning ones. Plus its great to watch it back knowing thats how Hollywood's greatest couple met. Poor Jennifer Anniston must hate it! Its like a record of her ex cheating on her :p

Awesome film for me. 9/10

Stop Making Sense

The seminal live film from Talking Heads! Made in 1984, it's a composition from 3 gigs from their tour that year. Part music, part performance art, it's really quite interesting. They're one of my favourite bands, so seeing them live in such a good film was really special.

oh, and David Byrne is the greatest frontman of all time, the crazy bastard!

10.

Saw V

I'm not a fan of saw, I doubt I ever will be. But this film tied up all the knots. I wouldn't watch it again, not because I'm not a fan of saw, but because it's one of those you watch once. I'm sick of saw now though, why is there supposed to be 6?

6/10

The sixth one will be about the box that Jigsaw left to his wife probably, but I agree with you, I'm sick of Saw too, but you feel compelled to see what happens in the next one, no matter how ridiculous

Agreed, they could have ended it easily with:

Saw on it's own

or even saw 3

But they didn't and it's continously going on! The traps in this film weren't even the focus because you were too busy wanting to know the story.

Zack & Miri Make A Porno : Brilliant, love Kevin Smith and this is the best film he's made since Chasing Amy. I read an interview with Smith where he said this is basically the story of how he made clerks at it's heart. Really worth watching if you even remotely like any of his other films. 8.8/10

Er... Zack & Wiki Make a Porno...? D:

Awesome awesome film, I wouldn't mind an oversize suit like Byrne although it looks excruciatingly hot inside it.

Over the last week

Mr and Mrs Smith

First time I seen it and I thought it wasn't a bad movie

7/10

Casino Royale

It's a good storyline but I just can't see Daniel Craig as James Bond, it just doesn't match to me unfortunately and that sorta spoiled the movie for me a bit

7.5/10

Splinter

Quite a good horror. Before watching it, I was thinking it's going to be rubbish but after, thought it was really good

7/10

Hocus Pocus

One of my favourite childhood movies. That 'Little Children' poem still a bit creepy, haha

7/10

Prince Caspian

I'm sorry but this is awful. The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe was brilliant but this was so disappointing.

2/10
