Molly Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Miss Congeniality is a pr0 film. SO bad that it's good? Yeah I can see that. Sandra Bullock is amazing! She's one of those actresses that I can instantly warm to everytime I see her on screen, whatever movie she's in. I used to say the same thing about Crash, but after watching it numerous times, it's definitely a brilliant movie. Though, it's still totally beyond me as to why it beat Brokeback Mountain for Best Picture at the oscars. Brokeback is obviously the better movie, especially when factoring in Ledgers performance (Which he should have won the oscar for too. Another totally wrong decision on the academy's part). I've rambled. I don't find her amazing, I just get annoyed by her whiny voice and overacting. Cliffhanger Love it. One I grew up watching. We were watching it last night and getting thrills on John Lithgow's voice.
Ashley Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Ok chap. Calm downs. Just making sure my point was clear :p But speaking of Tron...
Retro_Link Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Cliffhanger Love it. One I grew up watching. We were watching it last night and getting thrills on John Lithgow's voice. That opening scene is genuinely terrifying!
ReZourceman Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Pretty awesome. I like the characters. 8.3/10
Babooo Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Casino Royale - seen this at least 4/5 times but still think its a quality movie. Just makes me think about how bad Quantum of Solace was compared to this. 9/10
Cube Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Casino Royale - seen this at least 4/5 times but still think its a quality movie. Just makes me think about how bad Quantum of Solace was compared to this. 9/10 I really enjoyed QoS the second time. A massive chunk of the plot is in Casio Royale.
Jon Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3 I liked it. It's got two of my favourites actors in it, Travolta and Washington, not to mention the funny sector 7 guy from Transformers. Travolta is really awesome as the bad guy, though he needs to cut out the constant use of Motherfuckers. It's pretty sweet visually too, fast moving trains and NYC city skyline.
Coolness Bears Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Watchmen Now i've not read the graphic novel or knew anything about Watchmen before going to see in this but I thought it was very well made. The action was good and was wrapped around a story that kept me entertained to the end. There was something stopping it from being amazing but it's a solid 8/10 from me. 12 Monkeys I like Bruce Willis in this and Brad Pitt, well acted I thought! The concept is and the story is good but I felt the ending didn't live up to the rest of the film which let it down for me but a solid effort! 7/10. My Sisters Keeper a very moving film, a bit schmaltzy in places but otherwise they do not fall into the traps and keep it real. Some of the plot elements were not fully explored but it got me very depressed and near to tears by the end of it. Everyone else in the cinema was in crying! 7/10 17 Again I'm very surprised by this film. It was much better and funnier than I expected. It was still nothing special but a lot of fun and Zac Efron (first time I've seen him act) plays the part very well. Though Matthew Perry is looking aged. 7/10 G-Force Wow! This was nothing good but I enjoyed it! (Especially when I get to see it for free) It could have done with more action as it was over before it really got going. The reveal at the end was legendary and got me laughing and I like the characters. I hope for a G-Force 2. :p 6/10
Daft Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Really interesting film. I feel I should commend it for being a British film that is completely different. It pretty much fails in what it's trying to do and it starts off slow but it comes together and it is ultimately quite enjoyable. 6/10
Beast Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Long Time Dead I thought this was actually quite entertaining. A bit predictable in most parts and some of the actors were dodgy but entertaining overall. 6.5/10

Just looked on Play.com and it seems to get good reivews there too. Might venture to town and pick it up today.
blender Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I watched wall-e. not enough short circuit references. 8/10

Karl619 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Can anyone recommend me a funny film which I could get on DVD? I know this thread isnt for recommendations as such but I fancy watching a good comedy but don't know which to go for....
Daft Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 First one that came to my head was Blades of Glory. (Probably because I just saw Step Brothers.) I thought it was surprisingly funny.
mcj metroid Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) the mist: it suprised me in it's quality. OK it's obviously a low budget film as the cgi isn't the greatest but the ending is fantastic 7/10 Can anyone recommend me a funny film which I could get on DVD? I know this thread isnt for recommendations as such but I fancy watching a good comedy but don't know which to go for.... a bit vague isn't it? I can only list you my faves classic comedies: airplane 1 and 2 naked gun teen comedies: most are shit... but ferris buelers day off is a classic I have a soft spot for not another teen movie too.. most jim carrey films are funny the best being liar liar and please don#t believe people when they tell you cable guy is good.. it's fucking awful and as for recent comedies... I don't take to this "superbad-esque same 4 actors in every fucking comedy film these days" so that's up to you.. I liked forgetting sarah marshall though... again I'm just naming the obvious ones Edited August 4, 2009 by mcj metroid Automerged Doublepost
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) Just making sure my point was clear :p Just making sure you wasn't a little Queen (:p) protesting too much. Pr0 pic of Mickey though. Edited August 4, 2009 by EEVILMURRAY

Agreed, I was suprised at how awesome it was. If you havn't seen them then ; Anchorman Not Another Teen Movie. Two of my favourites. Alternatively, classics like Road Trip or American Pie always hold a place in my heart.
Goafer Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 My favourite comedies: Dumb and Dumber Borat Spaceballs Kingpin Forgetting Sarah Marshall Shaun of the Dead Hot Fuzz Me, Myself and Irene Anything with Leslie Neilson (apart from the Scary Movies he was in) Hot Shots Guesthouse Paradiso Magicians
mariosmentor Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 the mist: it suprised me in it's quality. OK it's obviously a low budget film as the cgi isn't the greatest but the ending is fantastic 7/10 It was actually supposed to be in black and white, which makes the CGI a little more bearable but the production company didn't think a black and white film would sell so they had to rush colour into the creatures. Nonetheless it is low budget CGI but still better than other out there (Megashark Vs Giant Octopus lol.) And yea, I loved the film. Especially the Dark Tower references.
Cube Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 There's an excuse for poor CGI, but none for lack of plot, good characters and interesting scenes.
mariosmentor Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 C'mon, when the little lady took a bullet I was jumping for joy. That was excellent build up!
Cube Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 C'mon, when the little lady took a bullet I was jumping for joy. That was excellent build up! True, it's always fun to see someone that annoying getting killed. For some reason my (and my Dad, Step Mum and Sister) thought that the film was terrible. We still don't understand how it got good reviews.
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 SO bad that it's good? Yeah I can see that Nooo! Tis a delightful entertaining experience. It might be though she used all her quality when she was in Demolition Man, since she wasn't that good in Speed, despite it being quality film. Robocop 3 Not as good as the first 2, and even works despite not having Peter Weller, but I was surprised to see how many people from the first film were in it. Six Shabba's Demolition Man Random violence set in the future, swearing is illegal. One thing which confused me was that they say spicy foods are against the law, yet every restaurant is a Taco Bell. However when you see Sly getting his meal it doesn't look very Taco-esque. Plus some awesome Chinese racism as one of his many quality lines from Wesley Snipes. Eight Shabba's Role Models I always love random swearing that come for no reason, and having a little black kid swearing in every sentence is classic. Plus it's also got me interested in that role play shit, I fancy giving it a go at least once. Eight Shabba's
