Happenstance Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago So it looks like I'll be waiting a few years if I get one. Was kinda of hoping that this direct would convince me as I've gotten back into handheld gaming recently but there was just nothing for me in that.

Julius Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago £395.99 per the site £429.99 for the bundle pre-order from 08/04 2
Will Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago It looks cool but I can’t say that direct particularly got me excited. I think the only thing I really want is Mario kart.
Dufniall Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Dutch preorder site says preorders start April 8, €469,99 for the Switch 2 and €509,99 for the bundle with Mario Kart.

killthenet Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I was bracing myself for something more expensive after the Simply Games thing yesterday so that actually seems pretty good Only £30 odd extra for Mario Kart is kind of nuts too
Will Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Not bad on the pricing. Considering it will stay like that may as well just get it day 1.

Me because it's probably a digital download codel lol, but still. Disappointed there isn't another colourway at launch! 1
Julius Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago Looks like physical games will cost more than their digital counterparts: 1

Even it is kind of gross. 1

Cube Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago 4 hours ago, Cube said: Predictions C-button just turns on the mouse mode. A 3D platformer, but not Mario. Could be Mario universe (DK, Yoshi). Expansion Pack becomes default tier of NSO, higher tier of NSO added. Official stylus accessory, sold separately Compatible with Switch charger, no new one included in box. Slightly redesigned pro controller A non-WarioWare minigame collection using the MouseCons in various ways. So C-button wasn't just for mouse, but for something just as underwhelming. 3D Non Mario platformer, check. They're keeping separate tiers. No stylus, just an EyeToy As @Dcubed pointed out, it has a more powerful charger New slightly updated pro controller And a non-WarioWare minigame collection for the controllers. Not too bad.
Nicktendo Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Kinda disappointing stream overall to some extent - I was honestly expecting WAY more first-party stuff, but the things they gave us look great anyway. DK and MK look incredible and I can't wait to play them. Seeing BOTW and TOTK in 60fps was wonderful, Kirby too. I'll be upgrading them all. My poor wallet. Too much third party stuff IMO, and most of these games I don't care about or already own on PC, but it's very good to see Nintendo courting so many of them, only a good thing in the grand scheme of things. Absolutely amazing that we go the trifecta of 120hz, HDR and 4K. This genuinely surprised me and I cannot wait to see how 1st and 3rd party devs use all of the tech (and input options) available to them. GameCube was kinda expected but still a massive shock to see Soul Calibur II and F-Zero GX there on day 1. Two of my very favourite game from that gen. I cannot wait! 1 1
Julius Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago More details on the pre-order stuff in the relevant thread, but outside of pricing/pre-order for the console, there's more on how pre-orders will work, and pricing for accessories, games and upgrades packs. 5 minutes ago, Julius said: TL;DR: Opportunity to preorder from the Official Nintendo Store will initially be available on an invite-only basis to NSO members, criteria above. From 08/04. Games, accessories and upgrade packs available to pre-order from 24/04 – including GCN NSO controller. Pricing listed. Physical pricing higher than digital pricing across the board.
Dcubed Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago These game prices are insane!! Fucking hell! They’re more expensive than PS5! The console isn’t too much more expensive than I was expecting, but the retail games!? Holy shite!!
killthenet Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago The difference in price between Mario Kart and Donkey Kong is weird though - £75 physical from MK, £66 physical for DK
Nicktendo Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago 2 minutes ago, killthenet said: The difference in price between Mario Kart and Donkey Kong is weird though - £75 physical from MK, £66 physical for DK Probably going for a BOTW / TOTK thing with it. They know it will sell well, so they bump the price up. I remember paying £70 for BOTW on launch from GAME because GAME. That was the RRP (phys & digital) at least, even if many places sold it below that. I think the standard is going to be £66 and the "big games" will have a £75 price tag. Nintendo's cheaper digital prices ain't gonna be fooling me tho. No sir. I'm going Olivia Newton-John for every major release this gen.
WackerJr Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I’ve just seen the Zelda trailer on Nintendo’s X account. Did I miss the announcement of Achievements within the Direct? They seem to have added them to the Nintendo mobile app!

Cube Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago To make the game pricing even more confusing, the USA doesn't seem to be having different prices for digital and physical, Mario Kart just seem to be $80 for both (with DK $70). Converting $80 to GBP and adding VAT takes it up to £74 (or £64 for DK).
Josh64 Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago (edited) The world, music, designs and characters for DK are all so different that it doesn't even feel like the same series. If it had releases as regular as Mario or Sonic then it would be an exciting thing, but we've been so starved of DK content in the two decades since Rare's departure that it seems like an insult to ignore basically the whole series history like this. I'm trying to live and let live, but this has really left me sour lol. Other than that, an exciting direct, and I will definitely be getting one as soon as financially viable! Mario Kart looks like great fun. The online options built into the 2 also finally look up to scratch and facetime/screen share is the kinda thing I would have loved in the Wii era, alas I'm too anti-social to use any of that stuff now 🤣 Edited 22 hours ago by Josh64 1
