bob Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 Yep, you can definitely do this. I really like the new dashboard but I’m constantly getting confused by long press and tap of the PS button and the fact that X and O are now reversed.Isn't it just the Japanese version that has the X and O buttons switched? I think you're just in line with the rest of the world now.

Or at least give us the option.

You have to treat them like the monsters that they are and eventually change will come. 2

I think it's a weird one for them at the moment with how PlayStation's market in Japan has substantially declined over the last decade or so, and their efforts are definitely being focused overseas these days. I think it's part of their continued attempts to be a worldwide brand vs a Japan-centric one, having it be universal this way means you can buy a PS5 from anywhere and the button configuration will be the same from the start. On the other hand, I don't think it's too much to expect them to at least have the option available. But I don't see them changing it or adding the option either to be honest, as it's going to sell anyways
Ronnie Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 I'd put my PS5 in rest mode and hadn't touched it in a couple of days. Came back to it today to find it off. Turned it on, and had the whole "Your console is being repaired" screen thing again, after it needed repairing on day 1. It's pretty terrible just how unstable the thing is at the moment, clearly rushed to get it out. Really hope this sort of thing isn't doing damage to my system long term. Anyway, otherwise enjoying it a lot. Spider-Man is as cookie cutter and samey as I expected, I kind of feel like I'm playing the same game from a couple of years ago but never mind. Astro's Play Room is a lot of fun though, even though I've only played the first part of the first proper area. Controller is fantastic, soooo glad they went the way of Xbox/Switch Pro in terms of the shape/ergonomics, it's way more comfortable than the DS4. Don't really notice anything special about the haptics in Spider-Man but in Astro it's awesome. Let's hope games use it going forward. UI is ok, needs a ton of work. Not a fan of the tiny icons on the home screen and the card system isn't particularly interesting to me. Something that always bugged me on PS4 is how it took ten seconds between pressing the screenshot button and the sound telling you it took one, it always made me wonder exactly when the screenshot was taken, and was I able to take multiple in quick succession. Anyway it seems a bit better here, even though there's still a delay on the pop up notification for some reason. 1
Aneres11 Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 Didn’t know that pressing and holding the mute button on the controller muted all gaming noise from tv and controller itself...! Pretty neat.
drahkon Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Playing No Man's Sky on PS5 is a marvel. Just spent about an hour doing the first few quests and I gotta say: It's nice to have a lot of the game's mechanics streamlined and being taught to you. The devs really thought about a lot and took the criticism they got to heart. Props to them This is where I'm at right now: High temperature planet with Sentinels. Great Just learned how to create a base. Since I'm a creative genius, there was only one choice: A simple hut Thank goodness for the PS5 patch. The game runs smooth, looks gorgeous (well, the planet is ugly as fuck, though) and the DualSense features are awesome. Convinced a mate to get this for his PS4. Can't wait to explore and build with him. 3
Esequiel Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 I really fancy a PS5 now, shame there is none available!
Ganepark32 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 So I had my release dates mixed up and thought it was releasing next week but turns out Haven, the next game by The Game Bakers who made the fantastic Furi, is out tomorrow on PS5 (as well as PC and Xbox consoles). Anyone picking it up? I played the demo through the summer on Xbox and enjoyed what I played, leaving me intrigued enough to jump in for more and though its releasing on Gamepass for Xbox consoles, I'm set to pick it up tomorrow as Twin Mirror from Dontnod (which I was set to buy) looks like it might be a bit of a dud. And plus, with having got Furi through PS+ and really enjoying that, they're more than deserving of my money if this ends up anywhere near as good as that was. Curious to see how it plays out long term gameplay wise but looking forward to jumping in. And there's also more music from Danger in the game so what's not to like. Its releasing at a price point of $24.99/€24.99 so not bad price wise. Expecting to match that in £ but would be pleasantly surprised to see it hit £19.99.
drahkon Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 (edited) First PS4 game I completed on my PS5: Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. No problems at all. In fact, the load times are much better (still atrocious...the game is not very well made from a technical standpoint ). Next "project": Persona 5. I got the base game free in the PS+ Collection so I figured: why not? Edited December 2, 2020 by drahkon
drahkon Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 There has been new stock over here in Germany, apparently. Looks like it's sold out everywhere already There's a cue over at gamestop How great would the next-gen launch have been if it wasn't for the pandemic Microsoft and Sony are still selling a shit-ton (i.e. everything they have) but I feel production could've been much higher without the virus rampaging through the world.
Will Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Loaded up my first disc based game yesterday and was amazed by how much time it took. To pull all of the required data off the disc took longer than it usually takes me to download something. Glad I’m mostly going digital, I had to go and do something else while it was reading the disc.
Ashley Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 My brother managed to get one for his daughter as he happened to get alerted to stock at Argos at 2am... If anyone is a night owl.
Blade Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 I preordered my PS5 months ago from Shopto and it arrived on release. I have so many PS4 games in the backlog (with more to get), that I didn’t particularly need to go next-gen. Except, I did, as my OG PS4 sounds like a jet engine. Playing FFVII Remake on that thing was just off putting. I haven’t bought Last of Us II or Ghosts for that reason. So I bought the PS5 to really knuckle down on some PS4 games. I did buy Miles Morales and playing through Spider-Man Remastered at the moment. Also bought Planet Coaster. Loved Theme Park as a kid. I’m enjoying Astro Bot and actually didn’t appreciate PlayStation history and it’s legacy compared to Nintendo’s. the controller is great and the game really shows it’s capabilities 1
Esequiel Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 I ended up grabbing one from Argos and a pre-order from game. Then found there was nothing I actually wanted, let my mate take that one and will see how i feel when my one from Game arrives. I know I want FF7 remake and FFXVI but will see how I feel!
drahkon Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Gonna ask this here, 'cause I don't think it warrants its own thread: I may want to buy a new TV/monitor. My current monitor is 23 inches so a possible new one should be between 28 and 32 inches. Not interested in 4k 'cause I doubt it'll be in my budget (around 200€). Can anyone recommend me a TV/monitor with those conditions?
Ike Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Big boi get! Finally got a disk version. Not happy being forced to buy a bundle, but I was in a queue for like 50 minutes so wasn't really expecting to get one. Currently transferring from my PS4, already filled the SSD which is concerning. 7

Haha.. I did the transfer this afternoon and I think the best thing to do will be to get an external HDD at some point to store all of the PS4 games and leave what little space is on the PS5 exclusively for PS5 games.. when there's something I want to buy for it

Ashley Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 I barely play games anymore, I'm hoping to continue travelling next year and there's not really any games I *really* want right now yet I still kind of want a PS5. I think I'm just bored and want to feel included 😋 1

Happenstance Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Starting to get a weird issue with my PS5 where it can’t install some updates to games/apps. First happened with Yakuza 7 (which has now gone over 2 updates not being able to install) and now the Disney+ app update can’t install. Gonna try deleting them both and see what happens but it’s worrying now that it wasn’t just an isolated problem.
Ronnie Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 It's pretty baffling how they haven't figured out a way of hiding screen grab icons, on other screen grabs (or notifications in general). If you take 3 screenshots succession, the third one will have the icons of the previous two on the image I thought they would have finally figured it out with the PS5 but seems not. 1
Ashley Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 "Figuring it out" and implementing it are two different things 😉
