I think it makes more sense to consider the game to be £30 and the amiibo's unlocking minor challenge missions. I got the game without amiibo for £20. It doesn't make sense to me to pay £10 extra for the game to make me feel the amiibos cost me less than they actually would...

Sounds like it'll be somewhat future proof, not exactly sure how Nintendo can counteract it but it'll be pretty handy to circumvent what essentially is figure-locked dlc

Yeah I suppose, but I can't imagine it JUST being used for Shovel Knight right now (I know that it's due to be used in future YCG games, but I would imagine that it wouldn't be put out JUST to be used in Shovel Knight right now...) Still, Shovel Knight as the first 3rd Party Amiibo? Crazy! Can't believe that YCG could get it pulled off! What a success for them!! Also, the chances of a Yooka-Laylee Amiibo just shot up. If this is real, then I'd say it's almost a dead cert. No way would both parties not be chomping at the bit for it! Edit: Tweet has been deleted, so it's almost certainly real!
