Serebii Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I hope that with the PS4 things like pixelated flickering shadows, pop-in, criss-cross cardboard leaves, flat water, smeary stretched textures and dead eyes are a thing of the past (even Uncharted is guilty of the latter). Other things that need to be improved are more a matter of talent and artistry (and budget? ), like good lip sync, fluid transitions between animation cycles and varied lighting and design (though games are already ahead of the movie industry's retarded orange and teal-isms!). 1080p as standard will be a nice boon too, but I honestly think these are things only the likes of us notice. Precisely, which is why it'll be a hardsell to the general consumer
Retro_Link Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 meh, never really noticed in the games I've got for the console. Probably because I'm having too much fun. Be nice to see shorter load times mind. Sonic Generation I'm looking at you.
Daft Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Definitely would be the hard sell so I would be surprised if that's how they focus their marketing. I don't think they'll be focusing on specs at all. It'll be about features and franchises.
dwarf Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-21514870 This man is an idiot.
Daft Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 PlayStation 4: everything we know so far If anyone wants to catch up to all the rumours/leaks/news/blah. @dazzybee
nekunando Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-21514870 This man is an idiot. I hate watching someone talking about games in the general media Nobody has a clue about anything
dwarf Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 (edited) 10/10 would re-watch a dozen times. Edit: thought this was an interesting take on the speculation http://kaz.rasmusslot.com/php/viewer.php?url=http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-02-20-playstation-4-everything-we-know-so-far&m=yes Edited February 20, 2013 by dwarf
Shorty Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I've never heard Kinect pronounced like that
Retro_Link Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 I've never heard Kinect pronounced like that Dude you ben doing it wrong. joke. Had to stop watching after 30secs. The lack of personality/charisma did me in.

Agent Gibbs Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I hate watching someone talking about games in the general media Nobody has a clue about anything Tell me about it, i get the feeling they don't want to discuss them at all so never have anyone who knows anything about them, they just go out in the office and ask for the journalists who's kids play games then find the "best" of that bunch e.g. a scenario i imagine happens in the bbc offices Editor: "we need an article on a video games console, who here knows about it?" reporter : "jenkins said he bought a playstation for his kids birthday,he was talking about how he didn't realise how different mario looked since he was a kid, and using the silly controllers like those ninja weapons was funny to watch" Editor: "jenkins your doing it"
Jimbob Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I'm not a Sony guy, but i'm planning on only getting 1 console for the next generation (minus the 3DS i already own). As for what, i'll decide after Microsoft have revealed what they are offering. Rumours for what the PS4 can do are tempting me, but i'll wait until Microsofts offering comes about.
Sheikah Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 The next generation isn't going to blow my mind I know, they just don't make Pokémon like how they used to.

I'm done with Mircosoft, personally. The 360 was by far my most used console this gen because of the controller, but the exclusives were just as lame as it gets. Gears Of War, Halo, Fable and Forza. Hooray? A gaming PC+ a Sony or Nintendo console is clearly the way to go.
Cookyman Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 It's all so damn exciting - makes you wonder what E3 will reveal? So who's coming online later so we can all act like this guy? One last thing, I hope the press are more excited than they were for this! I'm done with Mircosoft, personally. The 360 was by far my most used console this gen because of the controller, but the exclusives were just as lame as it gets. Gears Of War, Halo, Fable and Forza. Hooray? I chose to get a 360 when Nintendo announced the Wii and Sony announced the PS3, but i still got a Wii eventually. Starting my saving already for what potential console i could get, got close to £300.

Sheikah Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 ....... Where the fuck is giant enemy crab.
Jonnas Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 The little part of me that hates Sony is sneering at this event, but it's just a small imp. My curiosity is far greater than any left-over pettiness. For the good of the industry, I do hope Sony contain themselves and don't pull off another fiasco like the announcement-and-release of the PS3. Go take a look at Crysis 3. Then tell me with a straight face that the next generation isn't going to blow your mind. Crysis 3 is the perfect example of why any graphical improvement we can see from now on will be negligible, yes.
nekunando Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 If Sony reveal a price tonight, which I think is possibly unlikely, and it's less expensive than PS3 then I half expect them to joke that the PS4 is not $599 before the announcement.. or something.. for.. massive damage..
Guy Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Sony have been good to me the past few years. Great system, great exclusives. I have no reason not to be excited about their new system - especially with the way Microsoft is headed lately. They're the ones who really need to sell me on their next console, not Sony.
Daft Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Anyone know if the YouTube app on the PS3 (pretty sure it's the same one as on the Wii U) streams live YouTube videos?
