Daft Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 What are your favourite lines from movies? There are loads of big obvious ones but I like the line from Superman, "The son becomes the father. And the father, the son." And from Tron, "End of line." I think one day I'm going to use it to end all my conversations.
D_prOdigy Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 "The thermostats... what have you done to them?!" - Withnail & I
drahkon Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 (edited) Not really one line. More a compilation: From the same movie (In Bruges): Ralph Fiennes as Harry Waters "You fucking retract that bit about my cunt fucking kids." "Insulting my fucking kids? That's going overboard mate." Not from a movie. It's from How I Met Your Mother: Barney Stinson wants a girlfight Hm, can't be embedded... Edited September 7, 2010 by drahkon
Ashley Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 "A Fascist in the family is always handy, like a doctor." Mio fratello é figlio unico
Guy Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Anything from Arnie, ever. I also really like Fox Mulder's drunken bar rant in the first X-Files movie.
Cube Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Anything from Arnie, ever. I also really like Fox Mulder's drunken bar rant in the first X-Files movie. PUT DAT COOKIE DOWN!
Esequiel Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. We all know what this is from right?
nightwolf Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I didn't think so. This is also one of my favourites. Also ''and the quarterback is toast''
The Peeps Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I really enjoy the part in Zombieland where Woody Harrelson's character says that he's not great at goodbyes, so he says 'that'll do pig'. Audio Also most of the lines from In Bruges. I went to bruges recently and at the top of the bell tower there is a section they've temporarily blocked off with plywood. There are quotes from the film scrawled all over it lol. "You're an inanimate fucking object!" is probably my favourite from that one. But there is one in the deleted scenes where Ralph Fiennes (again) is on a train and someone tries to start up a conversation with him: "If I wanted to talk to a fucking cunt, I'd go to the talk to a fucking cunt shop'. His childish delivery of this line that doesn't even make sense is brilliant.
Paj! Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Most of that. Realistically though, generally various lines said in stunning films I find stunning, as opposed to quote-worthy lines.
mcj metroid Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Listen.....! and understand......! That terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead!!
Paj! Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Oh of course. Most of Terminator and T2 actually. Sarah Connor is so wise in T2.
Pancake Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Patrick Bateman's "i am simply not there" introduction to himself at the beginning of American Psycho. God i love it.
Paj! Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Hmm...Dianne Wiest's lines at the end of Synecdoche, New York. Loved them. Though they're just a component of a very emotive, atmospheric scene.
Ganepark32 Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Ghostbusters 1 is full of fantastic lines such as: "Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES"!" and this one also: "We've been going about this all wrong. This Mr. Stay Puft's okay! He's a sailor, he's in New York; we get this guy laid, we won't have any trouble! "
ipaul Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 'Fuck me gently with a chainsaw' - Heathers 'I drink your milkshake. I drink it up!' - There Will Be Blood All I can really think of for now, I don't watch a great deal of films.
weeyellowbloke Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Gordon Freeman has a bad day, in the film Falling Down.
Guy Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Jeff Goldblum can also be relied upon to deliver a line.
