Ian Watkins Given 35 Years

The singer from the Lost Prophets is given 35 Years for his crimes.

What makes it worse is the lack of remorse over the crime. He made a phone call to a friend whilst in prison calling the situation "mega lolz".

"Discussing his possible sentence, he added: "I'm going to put a statement on [December] 18th now just to say it was megalolz, I don't know what everyone is getting so freaked out about."

I think I'd struggle to acquire 27TB of normal data, let alone porn.

Yeah, I bet that figure is off. Has to be, that's insane. He is reported as being extremely obsessive...so it's not beyond the realms of possibility. Sick fuck.

I'm amazed that he managed to get away with this for so long, and that he managed to hide it from his friends and family. Terrific liar.

That one part about an animal, I just hope it was a sheep.

Beyond why they would do it in the first place, I don't know how high profile people think they can get away with it. People are too interested in knowing everything they do anyway.

He had 27TB of storage, not all of it was illegal content.

There was a bluddy brilliant quote on Odwin's facebook wall about that. From a police officer, something along the lines of:

"He had 27TB of storage, so it was obvious it was filled with illegal stuff."

Bwahahahahahaha.

Can you imagine getting filthy looks in PC World when you put that on the counter? 3TB? Fucking rapist.

Go back to the middle ages and burn the bastards at the stake. Absolute scum.

I'm guessing this wasn't 100% serious, but it does make me wonder that when a case of this nature comes around the amount of people who go from rational to "kill the bastard", "bring back capital punishment", "cut off his nob", "I hope he gets killed in prison", is a tad worrying. Like we've created a system that for the most part society agrees with but as soon as it's a paedo then people lose it. And we should just scrap it all.

Now don't get me wrong, he's a disgusting cunt and he should be locked away for a very long time. But at no point has it crossed my mind that killing him, would be justice.

I dunno it's late, and I'm rambling a bit.

No, what you said makes sense. But people can be relied upon to overreact and vent their anger on the internet.

It's about time.

However, I still find it odd that some people have murdered people and given less time in prison than him. Do the crimes outweigh each other? I'm not sure.

That being said, the guy is nuts, to only just realise as you're given your sentence, just how much shit you're in is crazy. I really feel for the band members who worked with him and had no idea.

No, it's the number of offences committed (also other things taken into considerations such as motivation, situation, danger to the public etc.).

Sky news said he will serve about 20 years in prison and then the remaining 15 on licence making up the 35 years.

Attempted rape of a baby... that is pretty sick man.

Although he showed no remorse he pleaded guilty, which can knock up to a third off ur sentence... makes you wonder what the judge would have given him had he gone not guilty and there was a full trail.

I'm sure someone fixed it for him.

Do agree with @Ramar's sentiments though, as heinous a crime as it is - I get amazed by the way everyone degenerates into calls of taking someone's life and worse as if it's their judgement to make.

I think he should have been given a life sentence, however.

I get what you are saying there and i agree to an extent, but there are instances where the death penalty would be the preferable option in dealing with extreme criminals, well those who murder, and will continue to do so if ever released. Pedophiles like wallace all though abhorent on many levels deserve to live and suffer, and they haven't killed.

Basically those who are killers and its plain to see they are a danger to others if ever released, since whole life tarrifs are not allowed, its more humane to everyone including the killer if they are put to death (imagine solitary confinement for 50 years as an example). There are far too many cases of murderers getting out and killing again, if their life had been taken someone elses wouldn't, and all the victims families wouldn't have had their lives affected.

The problem with that is making sure you know they are such a danger and you are 100% sure they commited the crime they are charged of, meaning it would end up only occuring in the most rare of occasions.

the thing is i'm more inclinded to thhinking this way because of how lenient and poor are legal system is, if it was foolproof and those who were guilty were truely kept away from society then there would be no need for such policies...

I've diverged off topic enough, Ian Watkins is evil, 35 is enough, in 35 years he'll be very old and hopefully no danger to anyone...
