Wii U General Discussion

How stripped down will Fifa 15 be on the 360/PS3? I know it would better than nothing on the wii u but I think its all about the PS4/PC/XB1 version now.

I'm hoping this will be the year I finally get back into Fifa if EA have actually done the right things with the new consoles.

Surely there has got to be something good... F-Zero announcement alongside him appearing in Smash Bros is a near certainty isn't it? ::shrug:

Emotion!

I wonder what'll happen today.

All I know is that we'll get footage from S.T.E.A.M. but other than that I think they've pretty much showed off all the games...

I hope they will talk with Aonuma about Zelda though.

The Yoshi Wooly World demo disagrees with you.

Inclined to agree, quality of Nintendo's output across the whole event aside - I would hardly call that presser streamlined much at all.

Nah, they'd be foolish to neglect the PS3/360 market - that's the biggest/best market for them if you ask me. Possibly load of people out there with 360s+PS3s(I know at least 2) who probably don't touch them for much more than FIFA anymore, especially with this being the world cup year as someone mentioned, it'd just be a big hit.

Has the Wii U so far to date had a FIFA or other football game? Wondered if there was any good Gamepad usage out of such a thing if it occured.

FIFA 13 was a launch game. Lacked ultimate team but did have some unique if somewhat pointless gamepad functionality and off screen play.

I don't understand the negativity from various outlets about 2014. Look at this lineup that interests me.

Aliens: Isolation, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Far Cry 4, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Captain Toad, Smash Bros., Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, Forza Horizons 2, Sunset Overdrive, Halo Collection, Assassins Creed: Unity, Wii Sports Club and Call of Duty.

There's bound to be a bunch of cheeky downloadable titles as well and titles that I have neglected to mention. Insane lineup for me.

I think gamers are just getting really picky about what they want to play, which is fair enough. When people say there's nothing to play this year though it's a flat out lie ( not saying you are saying this just pointing it out ). It's far more accurate to say that there is nothing that they want to play.

Exactly!

The cold winter nights this year are going to be unforgettable.

It's a different adapter, I'm afraid. Basically like the Wii but flipped round so you can't accidentally put one in the other, I imagine it's because they take different amounts of power in.

Yeah, I had a look online and found out. Now I need to go out and find one because the beautiful people at GAME charged me just £2.95 to ship the Mario Kart bundle out to Latvia!! Incredible. It may well take a month, but it's on its way!! Parents are coming to my graduation in a couple of weeks so I've been busy getting enough games to fill a warehouse sent to them. Hopefully soon I'll be enjoying the 6th generation of Nintendo home consoles!

Just an idea for an alternative to the UK, is there a country near by you could visit that does sell the Wii U? Just thinking if you would be interested in visiting said country, and it is close enough... obviously "close enough" is totally dependent on you, I doubt Estonia or Lithuania will be selling Wii U it Latvia isn't.. but maybe Russia/Finland/Poland???Belarus? (I do appreciate they are very far away... but still a little closer than the UK)

Actually it's pretty weird. In Estonia and Lithuania it's the same as here. You can get one, but it's expensive as hell. Funnily enough I had a course in Poland in March and in both Krakow and Warsaw it's almost impossible to find anything Nintendo related, even DS stuff. My guess is just that Nintendo never took off in the East because of communism and now that games are a serious business, people are happy enough with Sony and Microsoft, which are huge in Poland. Really highlights an element of the nostalgia effect Nintendo seems to rely on in the West.

Another thing, in the Baltics they don't have specialist games shops. There is just no market, there are only 2 shops in a city of 700,000 which sell consoles and a few games. My housemate explained that because they have always had really fast and reliable internet here during the broadband age, people just pirate PC games. The concept of paying for software here is completely alien.

So, before E3, there was a guy who said Devil's Third was being revived by Nintendo as an exclusive. Seems he's teasing three more new IPs that were saved by Nintendo.

If they are the same quality as Devils Third then it's nothing to get excited about. Still can't believe how rough that game looked this week.

If this turns out to be true, I've had a thought on this one. Devil's Third was an IP originally coming from THQ, if I remember correctly. Should this rumour be true of 3 more titles they've revived and turned into 2nd party exclusives, I wonder if some of the others are other now dead THQ titles. del Toro's InSane perhaps? Darksiders (although this would have to be negotiated with Nordic Games who are going to start using the THQ label again for when they bring that back)?

Just a thought on that. Perhaps even that Rodeo game that was supposed to come to the Wii and 3DS that was supposedly finished by never released. Interesting nonetheless.

So apparently Nintendo isn't considering providing Twitch support because they (or at least Reggie) doesn't consider it fun. For a company that constantly talks about being fun, they sure do like to tell everyone what is and isn't fun...

Oh, Reggie. Oh, Nintendo. :indeed:

Anyway, I decided to get a WiiU...

...someday. I want Smash Bros., so I hope when it gets released there will be a great bundle (+ price cut)
