Dyson Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 So, Kotaku is shit. It's still sitting there as my homepage out of guilt more than anything, but I'm done with them. I'm looking for a good general gaming news website with an easy to navigate interface and a decent chunk of stories. Eurogamer is super and all but they're generally a day late on most of their articles, which can be frustrated. So please do go ahead and share the sites you use for your gaming goodness! : peace:
Magnus Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 http://www.n-europe.com/ Brown noser. I check Kotaku daily, but yeah, it's a horrible website. But the same seems to go for most gaming sites, so I figure, better the devil you know...
Dante Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I go on these sites Giant Bomb, Joystiq and GameTrailers.
Ashley Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I tend to use http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Arts+%26+Entertainment/Computer+Games/Nintendo as a starting point (obviously that's in the Nintendo section but I'm too lazy to look for you :p). MCV, Gamesindustry.biz. Andriasang is good for translated stuff from Japan. More I'm sure but for obvious reasons most of my bookmarks are Nintendo-related.
Serebii Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 (edited) Other than Kotaku, I tend to follow these; http://www.gonintendo.com/ http://www.joystiq.com/ http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/ http://www.4gamer.net/ Lastly, http://www.serebii.net/ - It's a bit narrow in its news though, only deals with Pokémon Edited May 6, 2011 by Serebii
Ten10 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I tend to use http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Arts+%26+Entertainment/Computer+Games/Nintendo This is all you need.
Pit-Jr Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 http://www.the-magicbox.com I love this site. They stick to the facts and keep the posts short, sweet and unbiased with little or no fluff. If you're lucky they drop a few pics. They also seem to get the scoop on certain news or announcements early quite often.
Captain Falcon Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 (edited) Also worth a mention, I feel, are: Gamasutra Edge-Online Metro aka GameCentral aka Digitiser Develop Edited May 6, 2011 by Captain Falcon
Mundi Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 On my RSS feed I'm subscribed too: http://www.giantbomb.com/ http://www.destructoid.com/ http://www.1up.com/ http://www.joystiq.com/
flameboy Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 1up have become terrible for news recently... they have become more of top 10 site and such. here's hoping the the recent UGO/IGN merger brings them something back...preferably the 1up show although a lot of the personalities from that show are now gone.... other sites not mentioned already that I use; http://www.gameinformer.com http://www.bitmob.com Not so good for general up to the minute news as their focus is more on editorial but they do have a round up at the end of each day on the hot stories. Also machinma.com is really good both with their blog and the video news report IG Daily.
EddieColeslaw Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I read http://www.escapistmagazine.com/ sometimes, because I go there for Zero Punctuation and Unskippable. The forum is entertaining to read as well. How come no one's mentioned it? Is there some sort of stigma against it?
Magnus Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I hate the Escapist forum. It's filled with know-it-all teenagers. *Shudders*
EddieColeslaw Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I hate the Escapist forum. It's filled with know-it-all teenagers. *Shudders* I said it was entertaining, not good :p
Shorty Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 So, Kotaku is shit. It's still sitting there as my homepage out of guilt more than anything, but I'm done with them. I'm looking for a good general gaming news website with an easy to navigate interface and a decent chunk of stories. Do you know that you can still browse on the old layout through http://uk.kotaku.com
The Bard Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I don't really follow any websites. Rock Paper Shotgun is good for perusal since they have some interesting editorial, but for news, I just get it through the grapevine that is the N-E forums, and then alternate between picking up Games Tm/ Edge from the news stand every month for a delayed appraisal. Works for me.
Guy Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I use predominantly Twitter for ALL news nowadays. I've never really been one for news websites and Twitter is instant and more interactive. Sadly it's also a carousel of lies, with a celebrity dying every day. If you can pan for gold, you're good. Failing Twitter, ex-NE legend Jordan is a human RSS feed for geeky news.
Arnieboy Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I'm surprised noone has said Gamesradar. Good news site with a great sense of humour.
Grazza Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ is my favourite for news. Then, if I want to check something out in more detail, I'll also head to some of the other sites mentioned, but CVG covers most stories.
Cube Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ is my favourite for news. Then, if I want to check something out in more detail, I'll also head to some of the other sites mentioned, but CVG covers most stories. They do suffer from newspaper disease, though. Their headlines are often massively misleading.
Agent Gibbs Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 you could try MaxConsole.net :p well only if you want fanboy news, or to troll zeus
Murr Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I'm surprised noone has said Gamesradar. Good news site with a great sense of humour. Gamesradar is a good site, have some nice features on there.
