Update: US/EU/JP - NieR (Gestalt) [360/PS3] - In NieR (Gestalt), the protagonist, a swordsman named Nier, is on a search to find a cure for his sick daughter, infected with the Black Scrawl virus which ravaged the world and rendered human civilization a shadow of its former glory. However, on his quest Nier will encounter things that not even the strongest of warriors could overcome. The Gestalt trailer was released first, under the working title "Nier", with both the 360 and PS3 logos attached to it. Square-Enix made Nier older for Gestalt, as well as having him save his daughter instead of his sister, as it will resonate more with the western audience. Japan - NieR Replicant [PS3] - In NieR Replicant , the protagonist, a young swordsman named Nier, is on a search to find a cure for his sister, infected with the Black Scrawl virus which ravaged the world and rendered human civilization a shadow of its former glory. A new Nintendo DS RPG from Atlus, called Yggdrasil Labyrinth. Atlus has decided to bring this title stateside and publish it, while renaming it Etrian Odyssey. The people that are behind this title have worked on other games that some might recognize. The game is directed by Kazuya Niinou (Trauma Center: Under the Knife), with Shigeo Komori (Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner) doing the story design, and Yuzo Koshiro (Actraiser, Streets of Rage) heading up sound design. Nich Maragos, the project lead of Etrian Odyssey for Atlus USA, states, “This game revitalizes the classic spirit of exploration and adventure for a new platform and a new audience. The hand-drawn map feature along with the lush graphics will make gamers want to get lost in the striking forest world of Etria.” The story of the game focuses on a small town of Etria, which was not well known until a huge discovery was made. People had discovered a labyrinth at the edge of the town, which attracted visitors from all over. Of course, many adventurers have come to Etria to see just what treasures the labyrinth holds. While the labyrinth can surely be their last place to see, the promise of fame and fortune motivates people to try and find their way through the labyrinth. www.allrpg.com.

ONM - Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has told ONM to expect surprises at next year's E3 as Nintendo prepares to reveal an overhaul of the critically-acclaimed series. When asked how different the new Zelda title will be when it arrives on Wii next year, Aonuma replied: "It is something we used to talk about with Mr Miyamoto, and he and I agree that if we are following the same structure again and again, we might not be able to give long time Zelda fans a fresh surprise." "So we have been trying something new in terms of the structure of the Wii version of the new Zelda game this time. I am really hopeful that people will be surprised with the changes we have implemented for this Wii version." Aonuma also confirmed that alongside full MotionPlus support, we'll be able to see more of what his team have been working on at next year's E3. "I hope that we can show you something at the E3 show next year and it is something we are hopeful will be surprising," he added. The full, in-depth interview with Eiji Aonuma will be published in Official Nintendo Magazine issue 51, out December 18th.
