Mixing for theaters and not going back in (properly) for a home release is simultaneously the most and least Nolan thing possible. Every single time I watch one of his films at home I need to keep the remote in hand and be ready to go from 30 up to 70 and back again at the drop of a hat :nono:

Barbie doesn't have this guy in it though

Unless I'm getting mixed up he was in How I Met Your Father and I don't think the Barbie movie is missing anything.

And while we're at it:

Hey, as a kid raised in the 2000's, Josh Peck is a treasure for what he did in Drake & Josh (and also HIMYF just wasn't great across the board). Drake Bell on the other hand?

First teaser (I guess?) for Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, which Universal have decided to just loop on their channel ::shrug:

Still can't believe they got a real nuke for the purpose of filming :p

Surprised there's been no mention of No Time to Die anywhere. Has no-one else watched it?

Saw it a few months ago, can't remember much about it. I've struggled with the last few Bond films, Casino Royale was amazing, and Quantum of Solace was watchable, but everything since I just find way too bleak and depressing. I really miss the more fun Pierce Brosnan days, but I'm probably in the minority.

In my mind all of the Craig films kind of blend into one. I agree about the bleakness and the Pierce Brosnan era.  Granted Die Another Day may have gone too far, but Bond films should be over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek and a bit silly. I blame the Bourne films, and Austin Powers a bit. The Bond higher-ups were presented with two ends of the spectrum, and they chose to go in the Bourne direction with it.

I think the over-arching narrative is why all the films blend into one, each one doesn't have as much of a unique storyline like the previous Bond films do.

I think around the time Craig was hired, "gritty" was the big buzzword when it came to films and tv shows so they went in that direction and like you say, copied the Bourne films. Hopefully the next set of Bond films strike a good balance. I think Casino Royale did that pretty well. It was fun but also down to earth.

Yeah that was my other issue with NTTD. My wife asked before it started if she needed to know anything from the previous bond films, and i told her that i couldn't remember much of what happened in them, but that Bond films tended to stand alone. 20 minutes in and she was already asking who Vespa was, how did she die, who Madeleine was, who Blofeld was, who Felix was etc. I couldn't remember!

Watched Sonic the Hedgehog 2 yesterday for the first time.

It was an absolute mess.

According to IMDb, this movie was as good as the first but that's just not true at all. While the first was a 6 or 7, this was more like a 4. Out of 10, obviously.

It was not as good as the first, I think that's very fair to say. A lot of what you pointed out was true, especially regarding the wedding.

I enjoyed it as throwaway entertainment, but I found myself craving more intellectual stimulation afterwards. Asimov was the answer.

First real trailer for Oppenheimer - Nolan's next movie:

Not that impressed, to be honest. It's an interesting story but it feels a bit pretentious.

Saw this trailer in the cinema before Avatar 2, and it looked incredible. Didn't have any hype for it before that, but now I think I might try and catch it.

Really enjoyed Avatar 2. Wish I'd been able to see it in IMAX, or even just in 3D, but my wife has been having mega travel sickness with her pregnancy, and thought she'd best stay clear of anything 3D. I still enjoyed the film though. I get the criticisms of the plot, but I think as an action spectacle, it's great.

Watched Everything Everywhere All At Once. It was pretty good. It's a great idea, executed well, but I don't really get all the awards it's winning. It's a solid 8/10 though.
