Emily Rogers mentioned the following on Era yesterday evening.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough information to speculate whether Smash Bros will be branded/marketed as a "deluxe definitive edition port", a "half-sequel" or a "full sequel".

I can only confirm two things:

1. A Smash Bros title will be announced and released for Switch later this year.
2. They added brand new content and re-worked some of the existing Wii U/3DS content.

No surprise really, I mean many of us on here already called this. It seems like Smash will certainly one of the games Nintendo will show off for their online service.

Not sure if I'm buying this "confirmation" as one of her leaks/something she's heard, or rather just some educated guessing.

Because it really just sounds like an educated guess, and a pretty safe one at that.

I certainly expect a Smash port, but I hope the physics engine is slightly tweaked from the Wii U and 3DS version.

Make the gameplay a bit faster, add in some analogue control and add a couple of characters (ICE CLIMBERS).  A balance patch would also be useful.

Nintendo seems to be implementing customer reviews on the eShop, with players required to have played the game for a minimum of 2 hours of a game to be allowed to review it.

Example: the page for Dragon Quest Builders

On a pretty big side note, Ninty also took home most of the awards at the DICE Awards.

• GOTY: Breath of the Wild

• Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design: Mario Odyssey

• Adventure GOTY: Breath of the Wild

• Family GOTY: Snipperclips

• Racing GOTY: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

• Strategy/Simulation GOTY: Mario + Rabbids

• D.I.C.E. Sprite Award: Snipperclips

• Handheld GOTY: Metroid Samus Returns

• Mobile GOTY: Fire Emblem Heroes

• Outstanding Achievement in Game Design: Breath of the Wild

• Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction: Breath of the Wild

• Game of the Year: Breath of the Wild

Genyo Takeda was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Anyone interested payDay2? Worrying there's been no reviews. Game looks pretty good, £35, get a few of us could be great

The game is apparently 9 moths out of date in terms of the updates. More updates are supposed to be planned. Although, the developers aren't exactly trust worthy when it comes to updating their game.

Still no idea how you are actually supposed to communicate with your team mates either.

Yeah it's one update behind ps4/xbox by the sounds of it. Not too fussed about that to be honest, I mean, the is meant to have loads of content, so not like it'll be short of content, and something new in a few months will be decent. Though if they can't be trusted then that's another matter...

Might wait for a bargain....

I’m interested in getting it, but waiting for reviews, the embargo ends today so they should be along soon. I’m not worried about updates to content, it just has to perform well, FPS, etc.
Looks like fun overall.

Even 9 months out vs PS4 it'll have tons of content. Saying that I'll be interested for Payday to see how it compares in review to the PS4 counterpart(as I have experience of that). I hadn't played for ages but fired it up a few weeks back after my HDD upgrade as mate got it so we did some 4p - I completely agree with you on wondering about communication; I imagine it can be done without it(people play with randoms after all) but with my mates and the missions we did having not played to be familiar this time communication was really key. I spent one whole mission not even understanding what the hell was going on/we were doing, and we spent another not understanding how to escort a guy. The game is kinda unforgiving in its continuous nature(which is what makes it great) but it's one of the reasons you also, imo, need excellent methods for communication.

Reviews are up. NintendoLife gave it a solid 7 as did another. Has some slowdown in large intensive areas, but runs pretty well. No voice chat??? Discord is the way.

There are other reviews that aren't so kind, some saying its a cheap cash in, which is understandable if the game doesn't even have the latest features.

No communication is a big deal for such a game and it's good to see certain reviews point this out. Yes, there are ways and means to get around this but once again it comes back to the barebone features and lack of effort with online gaming on the Switch.

Cobbled together an article about Fortnite, PUBG and battle royale games potentially being on Switch...if you fancy a weekend read here's the link!

Good write up, KG.

For me, online gaming is something to be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home, rather than something on the go. I'd certainly rather be playing on a nice big screen TV with a strong internet connection, over a small screen with a weaker connection.

Nintendo have a LONG way to go to get rid of the reputation they have built up in the last few gens in terms of their online setup. Many gamers have found their place and formed friendships/clans/play mates on the other consoles and it's going to take something special to get people to break away mid generation.

The two other record-breaking consoles in France were the Wii and the PS4. The PS4 had the record, according to Sony, with 1m consoles sold in more than a year. The X1 took 3 years to reach those numbers.

Colorware are rereleasing their NES-inspired Joy-Cons, and are launching an NES-inspired Pro Controller.

And they look pretty awesome.2.png

Downside: the pricing is a little absurd, with the Joy-Cons costing $199, and the Pro Controller costing $189.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Switch will not receive any revisions this year (i.e. an XL or mini version), with Nintendo instead wanting to focus on more peripherals to make use of the Switch’s USB-C connectivity.

Did anyone actually expect them to be releasing a revision this year though? It would be a dreadful decision, there is no reason to revise the design when it's already selling so well. With the DS they needed to introduce the Lite so soon because the original design didn't have the mass market appeal they were hoping for, and with the 3DS they released the XL because people with bigger hands found the standard 3DS uncomfortable to use. Any similar complaints about the Switch have been in the minority so it would be foolish of them to potentially confuse consumers with more models.

I do expect a price cut towards the end of the year though, or at least a game bundled with the base unit for £280.

Diablo III is great, especially in co-op. Doubt it'll really work on the small screen, though. On a TV, however...a must buy for Switch owners (if this is indeed a tease for a Switch version).
