Jimbob Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Well done mate, glad all the work needed wasn't in vein.

Eenuh Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Well done Sheikah, congrats! =) Whooo, quite pleased at the moment. Got my grades for a practical module from last semester and I ended up with a 14/20! I was expected to get a 12/20 at first, but I managed to work my way up to a 14. So yayyyy! ^___^ Hope I can get the same done on my Master Project, 'cause at this moment I'm predicted a fail haha. Will be going into school today though to talk to my teacher about my project. Since I don't have an author, we decided we're going to tackle the text together (I wrote something/made a dummy book and he's going to edit the text now). =)
Shorty Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Did your heart sink when you read "thanks for coming to the interview and we're sorry..." Mine would've! Anyway, congrats

Sheikah Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Yeah I did think that actually! Especially since I thought they had no reason to be sorry given the interview was on Thursday, and I got told yesterday, which isn't really long enough to be sorry about. I'll be going for a good meal with people soon! My future supervisor was very happy too, e-mailing me to say congratulations. Yay!
Ellmeister Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Think I just failed big time on an online test. God I feel so shit.
martinist Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) Finally out of hospital, doctors said it was gastroenteritis, basicly a stomach flu, stuck me on a drip and just watched me for a few days. Can only use one hand atm, the place where they put the needle for the drip is making it kind of hard to bend my arm >_> all in all i feel fine...yeay. Also morphine is my new favourite drug of all time ^__^ Edited March 2, 2010 by martinist
Paj! Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Yay. Glad you didn't die/explode/dissolve into a pool of empty skin.
Charlie Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Eenuh said: Pretty fail moment today. Friend and I went to go and give blood today. We stood in line for about an hour, waiting (filling in a medical form in between the waiting as well). Then the talk with the doctor came... We both got denied to give blood. Me because of my leg operation/bone transplantation I received last year, my friend cause she spent a year in Thailand a few years ago. Boooh. And now I'm in school, sitting alone at a huge table while six guys are all cosily huddled together at a smaller table. I feel so neglected and rejected now. =( My first and only experience was a rejection like your own. I waited around for ages only to be told that I couldn't because I'd been to a Malaria infected zone in the past X years. I'm happy to give blood but I'm not going to go there to get rejected again. If they want my blood they can come and ask me for it specifically. It's a shocking service they have in these places; from experiences of my own and others they don't make it easy for people to donate blood at all. The hundreds of thousands of pounds they spend on advertising should be instead spent on making it easier to donate blood.
nightwolf Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Raining_again said: I can see your logic there, but then if you are in a car crash and seriously weakened anyway, you wouldn't wanna chance it on risky blood. (not to say people that have had homo sex are dangerous or whatever) Giving blood was something i REALLY wanted to do, but I can't, ever. I'm on too many medications. And i've got extremely poor veins (to the point where a tiny vial is tricky to get) You also can't give blood for a time after piercings and tats (6 months for piercings and a year for tats) For some of it obviously I see the reasoning behind it, but were talking about gay sex and been screened coming back negative and not being able to give perfectly acceptable blood because people worry so much about it all. Its a subject that baffles me :P Last night was abit poo, I was supposed to go out, had a lovely dress, nice friends and it just ended up rubbish. We usually meet up at a friends flat beforehand (Pinnacles to those who know sheffield) and have a few drinks, one of the guys who practically lives there wasn;'t going and thus tried to persuade others not to go out, which made the host upset and angry as he's been a pain recently. Then I got to pounded and ended up nearly throwing up with a massive headache, so I was there for half an hour and had to come home. Big big pile of wank. The guy who asked me out last week then somehow turned me down tried it again this morning. Go away. Oh and I have a date friday. Go me. EDIT: OOH I just read back, well done Sheikah!
Fierce_LiNk Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Well done, Sheikah. If I were one or both of your parents (don't ask how that would work) I would be proud of you and give you a well done handshake, hug or little kisssss. Today has been a good day, but the kids are such hard work. Just yesterday, I was told that two of the 6 year olds in another class were caught shoplifting. Gah. Its challenging, but rewarding, yet also very tiring at the same time. I've been working at the same school since last Monday, and they've also told me that they want me back for the next three weeks before Easter, covering numerous classes around the school. 2 and a half days a week. So, the other 2 and a half days will be spent getting other work or chillaxing. Altogether, thats 2 weeks of full time work there (which will be ending on Friday) and then 3 or so weeks of 2.5 days. Yes school. Gimme all your monies! I came home, made myself a cuppa and played Battalion Wars 2. This is a good evening. Footie on tonight, too.
Paj! Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Feel so horrible...have a cold/flu-y thing (no one else seems to) and just have a heavy head and sniffly nose and shit. My tutor is coming round to my house tomorrow morning to look at what I'm doing because for some unknown reason I can't play my final cut project on the final cut at college. No clear reasons, files of the same type play fine, my one just says "No". Better tidy up/do more work.

They were happy, bought me a Chinese takeout and had a card with some money. I think we'll be celebrating on Friday somehow and my girlfriend will be here. It's nice to hear that you're getting work at a school - that's the way in. For me, the way in was contacting a supervisor and showing interest in his work, travelling to London to see his lab, etc. It's all about starting from the bottom and working your way up.
jayseven Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 - The word 'pincushion' is great - Domino's Pizza is rockalicious - Corp is a bad, bad, bad place. - jayseven is rubbish at noticing when a girl is interested in him - A friend is giving me a kitten! - So long as I can, like, look after it and stuff... - Been offered a room in a house for £200 a month from july - Up to UFC 22
Zuul Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I come from scotland and my password is "nintendo" . what will you do with it?
jayseven Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Scotland? Invade it or something. Not made my mind up yet. Oh, nintendo! Right. Yeah. Play games on it? LOL NObecuzitspoo. Hi again, Zuul. You're not going to be here long, are you?
Shining Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 My day was pretty good. Didn't feel too good when i woke up, so decided not to go to school. I slept for an hour, and then i felt good again. Didn't feel like walking the 4 kilometres to school, so I stayed home. I played Metroid Prime Trilogy(Collected 9 artifacts on the first game today!)and watched a movie - Primal Fear. 'twas great, as every movie starring Norton is. Gere was just a bonus. At three o' clock I went swimming. I swam 1000 metres, and now I'm extremely tired. Gonna go get some sleep soon. Think I'll read some first. Or play some more Metroid. All the variables..

Slaggis Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Spent the past 2 weeks desperately trying to get better, but absolutely nothing was working. I headed to the drop in centre and after what seemed like hours of waiting and being glared at like I had some form of std, I finally managed to see someone. She just glared at me and was like "I'm stunned you're still walking, love". I had a throat infection, an ear infection in both ears, something effecting my stomach, a sinus infection and then ulcer type things down the back of my throat which were preventing me from eating basically anything. All being caused by one another. My hatred of going to doctors was retarded. I could have been feeling better weeks before had I just gone. Why am I such a retard? I still managed to be doing things though. Visited Han in Cambridge which apart from the illness, was amazing fun. Then Channy came up to visit for almost a week, and it was lovely spending time with Chris and Chan. Really have missed her. Also signed up for some scavenger hunt across Europe with Sheffield Uni. I'm so excited, it sounds like ridiculous amounts of fun being sent across Europe with only clues to tell you where to go next.
Jimbob Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Had 2 phone-calls today One from my Dad saying he had been picked out to go to Exeter to inform a young female her boyfriend/partner has been killed in Afganistan. I was wondering why him, but i found out this female lives and works in Cardiff so he is nearest to her address as such. Had to wait in for him to come home, drop the dog off and pick a few things up. Thought it was a waste of a day having to wait in from 10:30am for him (he had to get a hire car for the occasion (usually takes an hour, took 5 instead). He has to take her and her parents to Swindon and to RAF Lynham where the body will be taken to). My Dad won't be back til Friday now, but it is in his job though to do this upsetting and difficult task. Luckily, had the second phone-call which was from a company in Langstone, Newport who asked me if i would attend an interview tomorrow at 12pm. Of which i said yes. And it is also the quickest an employer has ever got back to me as well (applied on Friday, hear on Tuesday). So that will make it 2 interviews this week (got one on Friday). And with the spare-time left, i have to clean the whole house properly (all nooks and crannys as such) as we have the estate agent coming to take photos of the place, and do an assessment on the essentials e.g. boiler, water-tank etc in preparation to put the house on the market. A busy, busy week.
