The TV money deals have probably contributed to this, too. Now that clubs know that there are teams that can afford these prices, they've just increased the prices. Everything is £20-£30million more expensive than it was a few seasons back. Spurs must have been laughing all the way to the bank with that one. But if City want the player, then they're going to have to pay the price. Not sure what will happen with Coutinho. Would be a huge loss for Liverpool if he leaves. Given that United, Chelsea, City and Arsenal have strengthened, it could be what costs them top four.

The prices have been inflated by everyone. Once a player like Sigurdsson was quoted as being £50 million or someone like Kyle Walker gets quoted as £45-50, then there's no going back really. If the Neymar value does turn out to be true, then I guess it just sets a whole new baseline for everyone. Insane numbers. We'll probably see the first billion-pound signing in our lifetime.

Man, I just read your posts again in the Overwatch thread and it sucks that you had a bad time with it. I've really enjoyed my time with it so far and it's turning into one of my top games of this generation. It's different to what else is out there currently and it feels like you're almost playing a different game each time you switch to a character that you don't usually go as. On the whole, the userbase are pretty good. I've only had a handful of negative experiences. If you ever get the chance to try it again, I hope that you do and I hope that you enjoy it. I'm ashamed that I didn't jump into it sooner.

There have been a few big transfers already, with a few more speculated to happen. First off, United have made a huge signing with Lukaku, who I'm excited to see next season. Could be a massive player for us. Morata at Chelsea and Lacazette at Arsenal are also going to be huge players, I feel. However, the biggest news has to be surrounding Neymar, surely? The speculation that he'll be going to PSG just doesn't seem to be going away and it's expected to happen sometime in the next week. Crazy.

That's really terrible, @nightwolf. Hope that you can get it done and over with soon.

Oh no! Was this the Germany game from last night? Heb je naar de Nederlandse wedstrijd gekeken?

Really happy about more The Wolf Among Us. It might be time to start Michonne and Season 3 today. It's there, waiting for me to play it. Can't be arsed doing anything strenuous today, so may just crack on with it.

It's quite interesting to see how we've all evolved since the early days.

We tried that mode yesterday, @Shorty. It was fun! Crazy at times as you'd have something daft like 2 Bastions and 2 Mei's on the same side or something like that, but it's different to the regular modes. That 3 vs. 3 was intense, @Sheikah and @Eenuh. I feel like we had the right idea most of the time, but the two of us just haven't quite become skilful enough to be good in that mode. First time as Zenyatta yesterday...quite enjoyed it!

That was in 2014, duuuuuude. I haven't touched our 3DS or WiiU in about 2 years. Haven't even bothered buying a Switch!
-
That sounds interesting! A bit of a shame about losing the ult charge, but we can't have it all, I guess. Might be worth a go. Quite useful to try out different characters, too.

If anything, we're more likely to implement a pseudo-American system of healthcare than America is likely to have an NHS style system. The NHS is being starved of funds and I'm bracing myself for the day where we start seeing large chunks of it sold off to corporations and investors.
-
No, I've never tried it. What exactly is it?

Happy birthday, Serebrah.

Good games the other night, @Eenuh, @Sheikah and @Zell. Really enjoying this. Every time you switch to a new or different character, it feels like you're almost playing a different game, if that makes sense. After you guys left, I tried a few characters that I've never really gone as before and the whole thing felt alien to me. Tried Doomfist yesterday. Quite like him! Looking forward to getting to grips with him a bit more.

Let's get real for a moment, there was no way that Obama could have ever changed the way health insurance works in the way that you wanted or expected it to. You're not being realistic. Obamacare is as good as it gets with the way that things work currently. For things to not work this way, America would have to change it's entire medical industry overnight and dozens of corporations would go bust. There are too many people who wanted Obamacare to fail in the first place, could you imagine how many more there would have been if he had tried to change the market by moving it out of favour of corporations? It's deeply rooted into their culture and it will takes years, if not a decade, (maybe more) to weed out. Trump said a lot of things.

I don't think that there's been any hacks or DDoS attacks in months, has there? Certainly no noticeable downtime and I'm online very regularly. It sucks to pay more, obviously. The info mentioned earlier about "stacking subscriptions" is pretty useful, so we'll end up doing that, I imagine. Putting it into perspective myself, @Eenuh and I both go online through one PS+ subscription, and we both go online pretty much every night for Overwatch or for something or other. I'd say that we game just as much, if not more, than we watch tv. Whilst it sucks not to have the extra £10, paying it isn't going to dramatically worsen our lives. We play the PS+ games, so I'd say that we're getting the most out of it. Obviously, if you don't play online and don't want the extra games, then spend the money on something else.

Saw Dunkirk tonight. Was on the edge of my seat the entire time and felt tense all the way through. It had everything for me...beautiful cinematography, fantastic soundtrack, the set pieces were great, etc. They really nailed it with the running time, too. Could have easily walked out of the screen room and into the next viewing straight after. 10/10 for me. It's not your typical Hollywood depiction of war, either. Definitely had a "less is more" type of vibe going on with it.

Nothing Trump does anymore shocks me. However, there wasn't an awful lot of build-up to this, so the timing of it is quite odd. At this stage, Trump just seems to be going through a checklist of Obama-era policies and is reversing them one-by-one. This is quite a useful link that details the progress made under Obama and how it's being reversed under Trump. Clearly the costs involved are way under 1% of the total military budget, so it's not a reasonable argument to blame it on costs. I just wonder what happens next after this.

Pretty happy about this. I've been tempted by Just Cause 3 in the past, but never quite felt enough urge to put the money down for it. Looking forward to giving it a try.

You're succumbing to something called "confirmation bias" now, which is where you've got your own set of beliefs and have altered the findings of the report to suit your own beliefs. You just openly said you're not questioning it. Out of curiosity, I looked at the BBC report of the article and read the following: If there is something there, then further studies should be conducted to validate or invalidate it. That's true science. The second line of that line is a bit damning, however. It's not a representation of a population, only an extremely small sample. Again, I'd love to know what the numbers were pre-1970s and how the information was gathered. If we're going to talk science (which is what we are doing) then it needs to be looked at scientifically.

So, you're not the least bit concerned about the validity of it? You're just happy to roll with any set of numbers thrown in front of you and come to your own conclusions, which aren't necessarily linked? Well, testosterone is just a part of it. Masculinity is not a synonym for testosterone. Ok, then what is your definition of "men being more feminine"? And how does this link to the findings of this study?
-
I'm questioning the "truth of the matter", namely the validity of the stuff, the conditions in which it was conducted and whether the source is reputable or not. There are several red flags that need to be addressed first. Not entirely what I was asking, which was whether there was a link between masculinity and stress. Your opening post talks about the study in question and then talks about men becoming more feminine. I believe that you're arguing many separate things and are trying to artificially link them together. I do agree that lifestyles, busy environments, money worries, lack of social housing, access to jobs can lead to more stress. Well, the article talks about many factors, such as obesity. Obesity, stress from work, family life, jobs, lack of social housing, busy lifecycles can have an impact on your health and I can see how that could cause a drop in fertility. But, I still think you're trying to argue two separate things, with busy, stressful lifestyles on the one hand and "men acting feminine" on the other. I'm not sure that there is a link. Sure, there is merit. But again, the validity of the study is questionable, imo. I just don't feel that the information that we've been given and Grazza's opening post link up, particularly the notion about "men being feminine".

Whaaaat? You didn't like Transistor? I think @Eenuh said that she preferred Transistor to Bastion. Xcom looks really interesting and it's been on my radar for some time. I'll definitely give it a try at some point.

I'd like to know if it is possible at all to have access to the sperm count numbers before 1973, to at least give us a baseline. I'd also like to know how this sample was selected. Also, the source link from the Daily Mail website doesn't work. From the article itself: And: Colour me sceptical about how this data was collected and collated. Are these reputable sources? To me, overpopulation of our planet is a bigger issue than falling fertility. If we're sticking with the article, then what is going to cause these falling sperm count rates? The article suggests it's based on chemical exposure, and they also link it to obesity, smoking and stress. Are you saying that there is a link between masculinity and stress, etc? I don't quite get how you've linked the "the fall in masculinity" to sperm count rates.
