I really like it. It's quite a "passive" game in that you can spend as much or as little time as you want playing it. I'm glad that they're bringing more content to it, so you're getting a better game now than the one that was released at launch. For that price, you may as well.

Probably agree with @will' here. The app spends a lot of time getting you used to the lettering system, so you actually learn very few "words" or translations. If you need to get by and will be doing little reading or writing, then a phrase book is probably more useful as a short term solution.

Mine is simply JimBabur. I've added you and Ashley.

This will sound odd, but could we have a few retro themes? Like a classic Cube-Europe and then old N-E theme?

It sounds like we have a lot of Duolinguians on here. We should add each other!
-
Seems quite interesting! Tempted to give it a go!

A while ago, I put myself down to be notified when Duolingo would be introducing Japanese. Well, for some reason, @Eenuh received a message telling her that it was available on the app, but I didn't. Hmph! Anyway, I've had a few goes on the app and I've been introduced to Hiragana. Just trying to read up on what exactly Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji are. Strange language! Not really learning it for any other reason than for fun and on the off change that we maybe go to Japan one day.

Oh my god I can't believe you just wished me happy birthday!

Happy birthday, Animal! -
That's pretty much my only grievance, so far. Everything feels very new and sleek. Quite a sexy change! It'll take time to get used to it, but I think it's been a good move. Well done and thanks. Edit: Noooo, my avatar doesn't look right! Maybe it's time for a change...

Saw this at the weekend and loved it. Thought Gal Gadot and Chris Pine had fantastic chemistry and loved the scenes that they shared together. The action was really enjoyable and the plot wasn't convoluted or messy. It just had a really nice flow to it. Could have easily got another ticket on the way out and watched it again.

This is a shame. If done properly, this could be really awesome. Although, I'd really want to play SEGA's games on consoles rather than mobile, but that's a personal preference for me.

Didn't realise it was on. Will have it on in the background whilst I do some work at home. Edit: Ronaldo just set up the opener. 1-0 Portugal.

Too many PS4 games to buy to justify getting new hardware where we'll only play a few games.

General Election 2017 - MJ popcorn gif edition

Quite disappointed that he has resigned. I thought he was taking the party in the right direction and he appeared to be a very interesting character. A good leader for the party. -
I noticed the effects during parts of the IGN stream. Looked pretty cool, tbh. I'm all for making a "show" out of the whole thing.
-
Didn't even know that there was a S-E stream/conference. Was anything interesting shown?

I'd say that your views are pretty similar to mine. Don't really understand why getting Rocket League is seen as a big coup either. It was released on PS+ in July 2015...it's not a big third party capture. What would have been impressive would be if the Switch had got Destiny 2, or Battlefront 2, or the new Assassin's Creed, or Anthem, or something else that's recent.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. This is currently not a standard feature. It is neither an industry standard nor industry expectation for games to be cross-platform. Is the current FIFA cross-play? Was the last one? Is Star Wars Battlefront 2 going to be cross-play? Was Battlefield 1? Playing across PC-Xbox makes sense due the Microsoft connection to both. But, it is not an industry standard. That is not to say that it won't be an industry standard in the future. I'll reiterate my point again: if the industry is moving towards cross-platform play, then Sony should allow it. If there are legitimate reasons why not to, then are there solutions to those reasons? For example, how exactly do you regulate that experience? If a bunch of PS4 users are disconnecting on Overwatch whilst playing against Xbox One users, then how does this get sorted out? If there is verbal abuse, who takes ownership over the problem? If these are questions that can be answered with sound responses, then excellent. As a gamer, I'm all for cross-play. The advantage for me is that there will be a wider numbers of people playing these games, which makes it easier to find games. I won't have to wait long on Overwatch, for example, because the userbase will be bigger and I'll have a bigger pool of players to game with. So, I can definitely see the benefits.

If the industry is moving towards cross-network play, then Sony should move towards that. On the other hand, surely this will just lead to Sony and Microsoft aiming to secure more multiplayer exclusive content. If it doesn't matter which platform you buy a game on because you can play with users of all platforms, doesn't that negate Sony's own install base? They have to make an advantage somehow otherwise what's the point in buying the game on their system, why not go for a Xbox One version of the game?

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (October 27th 2017)
Fierce_LiNk replied to Julius's topic in Other Consoles
Looks absolutely brilliant. Can't wait. I've got the first game to finish off, but it looks like they've taken the best bits of that and just ramped it up. -
Looked pretty good to me. One of those games where I'd be tempted to buy it if enough people on here got it and if it was at a decent price. I've only played Tri and I quite enjoyed it. Not enough to lose my shit over this announcement, but enough that I'd give this a look-in.
-
I thought that this looked a bit shit. Even before the title reveal came up, I wasn't feeling it. Hope it isn't shit, but the trailer was pretty crap.
-
I didn't really enjoy Nintendo's...thing. For me, the main point which should have had getting my wallet out to buy a Switch should have been the Metroid Prime 4 reveal. But, I thought it was really flat. Just the title with nothing more added to it. On the one hand, it's great that it's coming, but I was left wanting a lot more. Not really excited for any of Nintendo's stuff. Mario looks a bit off to me and today's trailer has me worried for it. It just doesn't seem to flow well artistically. I was previously very excited for it but it fell flat for me. I can definitely say that I'm in no rush to buy a Switch. The concept of playing games on the go is interesting (for some), but all of the interesting third party games aren't coming on the system...so what's the point?
-
It'll give you something to play after you finish The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine and Bloodborne.
-
Just watched the conference with the traditional E3 Chinese food. Really enjoyed it. Can't think of many games that weren't shown that I won't be buying. If you add up the games shown today and factor in all of the other third party stuff shown in the other conferences...the rest of this year and next year are shaping up to be incredible. Have to laugh at the "samey games" point or something to that effect, which is just typical @Ronnie, really.
