Got back from holiday to find that our house has rats. They'd gotten in through a broken air brick and from under the floorboards proceeded to chew into the dining room cupboard, the living room and the front hallway. They chewed up a cushion, ate two packets of water biscuits and an entire packet of Matchmakers (mint). They also pushed a wine glass off a shelf. Anyway, we tried a humane trap, but according to the council it is illegal to trap and release rats in this country. If you catch one, you have to kill it in one blow with a spade. Didn't think I could stomach doing that, so we've put out non-humane traps and poison instead. Caught a pretty huge rat during the early hours of Sunday morning. I know because the sound of it dying downstairs woke me up, and kept me awake for 20 minutes as it died. Felt really sorry for the poor thing, but there apparently isn't much else you can do... We've had 2 days of no rativitiy now, so fingers crossed they are gone.

Well my two week holiday in Portugal went well (despite the fuel crisis which threatened to derail the second half). I didn't really end up using an awful lot of Portuguese though. Almost everybody spoke English, but I did try and order in Portuguese whenever I could. It was refreshing being able to understand signs, and menus etc though. Since returning from holiday though, keeping up Portuguese seems a bit pointless, since I doubt I'll go back any time soon, or visit Brazil, Mozambique or Angola. I've decided to do a bit of French for a bit, at least until I can decide on a different language to learn.

Was hoping this would be a brand new crossover game in which you play as both Abu and Rafiki, trying to help Aladdin and Simba respectively gain their thrones, but it's open world and actions in one part of the map affect the other. Dunno what this shit is.

My wife has been veggie since childhood, so all the meals I cook at home have been vegetarian food years. About a month ago, I decided to join her, since 90% of my meals are already, and it was just restaurants where I ate meat. It's not been that hard, although I do cheat and eat fish every now and then. Especially in Portugal, where 80% of the menus are fish. The best burger I've had is the moving mountains burger from Hard Rock Cafe. I genuinely could not tell that it wasn't meat, it was incredible. Really delicious as well.

I like the Matrix sequels. I haven't seen them in a while though, so they may not stand up very well, but I enjoyed them at the time.

It came free with something else, and since I haven't watched the first 7, I wasn't that fussed about watching the 8th. If you don't take it, it'll probably end up at a charity shop.

My wife and I collect Lonely Planet guides from all the places we visit (technically we buy them before we visit, but we 'collect' them afterwards on a shelf). We also like to buy a Christmas tree decoration from everywhere that we go, so our tree is covered with little mementos of our holidays. I did collect N64 magazines when I was a kid, but like Shorty said, it was kind of a relief getting rid of the clutter once I realised I was never going to read them again.

I'd give your gf one more chance if I were you. Pros tend to be very expensive, and there's no emotional connection there at all.

I don't think I've turned my Switch on in three months, my PS4 in three weeks. My Oculus Quest gets regular use, but it's not really proper gaming. I'm hoping it'll pick up again once the busyness of summer subsides.
