Wii U General Discussion

Hero-of-Time

Recommended Posts

Maybe, but my point is the Wii U isn't going to change too much. And in all honesty, the nintendo fans (who were loving the Wii on these boards) aren't the people who repeatedly bang on about the same things, it's the people who moved away from nintendo with the wii... still going on... but more so! Though now they have sales figures to validate their opinions...

I still have a Wii U with a healthy games collection and still go on and on about online all the time. As does Kav and a few others. Are we no longer Nintendo fans? :shakehead:heh:

Even those who like the Vita don't discuss it, never mind those who do. :D To be fair you wouldn't get much of an argument about the Vita from most people. The way it has been handled has been terrible.

In regards to Nintendo listening.

There are examples of them listening though, with such things as the 60hz VC stuff. The point is their silence is much worse than an actual answer that you may not want to hear. Why not answer fans when they ask why there are no friend lobbies in Wii Sports Club? Why not give people some feedback as to why there is no party chat feature on the OS level?

The fact that they haven't got anyone to respond on things like Twitter, like the other 2 have, is baffling but then they are always super secret about stuff. In this day and age though it's probably doing more damage than good.

I agree silence is more irritating, still think journalists don't do enough though. And can I add that I'm not defending Nintendo, I have written many many articles slagging nintendo off, I'm irritated by them. It really isn't negativity towards nintendo that bothers people.

I believe Oxigen_Waste gave a brilliant response to those claims of hypocrisy that was unfortunately deleted (that being, two sequels not covering one generation versus 5 or 6 sequels spanning 3-4 generations). Naturally, you can complain about being bored of one and not the other, without being a hypocrite, but for whatever reason you refused to believe it.

I also don't see how there is any context to this - it is plain as day you went into a topic to goad, and your post caused a massive argument that had to be deleted.

Maybe, but when someone complains about moderation in other topics when they're actually the source of such moderation, I can't help but point out the irony.

£ games in a few years or playing pretty similarly... How many main console marios have there been in 25 years?! And of course you can not be bored with one and then with another, people can like whatever they want; but slagging one off for doing something and praising another for the same IS HYPOCRISY!!! You can not like it, not be interested in it, but don't be a hypocrite about it (and also you love Assassins Creed, how many of them have their been in a very short space of time)!

Yeah, NWR were on about the way journalists are now when they discussed that Smash Bros roundtable segment.

They were saying how a lot of them don't really do their jobs anymore, yet its these people that are the ones who are in the position to get answers from the likes of Nintendo. I think it was John who was saying how he is a gamer and does what he does because he loves gaming and feels that consumers deserve to know the answers they are after. I love those guys.

No! :D

It's about balance and the incessant nature of it all, and the reasons. Like I say, it doesn't happen as much anymore, but topics we're getting derailed on the same things over and over again; and the crazy attacks on anyone defending nintendo (primarily Serebii)... you and others raise points as and when they're relevant.

But no... you're definitely not a Nintendo fan. MS Fanboy!!!

I hardly think anyone on here is a Playstation/Xbox fanboy. Most of us on here own multiple consoles ( Wii U and either a Playstation or Xbox ) and as such have become accustomed to having certain features on a games machine.

No offense to any Nintendo only gamers but I find it easier to take on board the opinion of someone who does play on the other consoles, as well as Nintendo ones, as they have a wider view of things.

You may be happy with the console ( to a degree I am aswell ) but there are people on here who aren't. Just look how many people on here have jumped ship to another platform.

If Nintendo were doing their job and appealing to gamers then the Wii U would be looking a lot healthier now. I know you don't like sales chatter but sales figures give a good indication of what the market wants and at the moment they simply don't want the Wii U. Do these figures matter when it comes to enjoying the console? Not at all but they may have future repercussions as to how long Nintendo will stay the course.

Agreed with a lot of this post - especially the part about users with multiple consoles. One of the reasons I've always found N-E appealing is because people tend to be quite open-minded on here, as well as owning multiple systems, far less fanboyism here than was about on the internet in the olden days(though I'm sure that landscape's changed some as well, just like the gaming scene).

Wii U doesn't sell, that has a knock on effect with third parties. No third party games has a knock on effect with future sales for the systems AND it tarnishes the image for the next one. When Nintendo release the next console, they won't be starting from fresh; perceptions still carry over, as do relations to the market and third parties...as well as gamers. How many people didn't go for a Wii U after being "burned" by the Wii.

This is something I don't think people acknowledge enough. The PS4 and XBone's sales imo have mostly been driven not by the consoles themselves or their potential but rather the quality and output of the predecessors. It's essentially the same for a lot of Nintendo fans - we're sold on Mario and Zelda having been good, and thus expect the next ones to be when it really isn't neccessarily the case. Whilst I imagine the PS4/XBone may do more than enough to service that expection that sold them; I think it's where the WiiU and Nintendo's output isn't quite matching up that is frustrating people. I think this is also a factor that isn't quite 'sales' related/measurable - ie Wii sold huge numbers yet Wii U hasn't. Though that's still notable imo too.

I agree very much with this. I think most of us on here have full time jobs, studying, have families to take care of etc. We aren't exactly a young forum. :D

We all know there are more important things in life than gaming.

For me at least, this is definitely somewhat of the case in terms of having other things. As I said elsewhere I don't even have much time I put into 'video' gaming now, but despite that I am still heavily interested in Wii U and Nintendo's future. A lot of my time, being limited, goes into socialising in a world of connectivity and social media - this forum being a perfect example. Given the choice I'll often opt for the interaction - another reason why Online is imo an important feature to have and get right - you double both your gaming and socialising into one at the same time.

The site tells me I was quoted, something to do with me refuting some one yet I cant find the post. Was it deleted?

edit - I guess it was deleted as it was posted at 2:07pm and no post exists at that time.

As I've already said, the discussion about what happened in another thread needs to stop.

I think the constant references to discussions/posts taking place on other forums could also be reigned in. If I wanted to know what idiot X on forum Y was saying, I'd go to forum Y. Bringing up their arguments over here only makes things worse.

Incoming Pro Controller offer:

Nintendo just announced an offer (saw on Facebook) where you get 30% off the Pro Controller when you buy MK or any MK Wii U bundle off the official site.

Dunno what that works out at, can't be arsed doing the deets:

Anyway, why they didn't do this for launch is beyond me. Morons.

YES! Unless there can be links to said drama. I feel like I'm missing out by only seeing the part of this clash thats played out in this thread.

It might be quite a common fault, generally referred to as Seagate.

SO pokemon RPG maker! i want us to prove to Serebii how it could happen and annoy the pants off him

much like mario maker.except instead of levels, you make areas. default background tiles (perhaps grass or water as an example). You can play around with the likelihood of bumping into Pokemon in for example the patches of tall grass you have placed around and what levels they'll be.

You choose tasks that can be completed in an area - for example a npc can have "lost item". you then have to hide the lost item, possibly in tall grass (the game highlights suitable hiding places in green, with unacceptable areas red).

Simple. :) even have the option of changing the appearance of the overworld, with monochrome GB version graphics, all the way to x/y style graphics.

To really push the boat out, the could allow you to interlink a constrained number of areas together, allowing you to make a series of challenges culminating in a final set challenge.

I don't think they'll do the last one though, because that would be too amazing. Unless it's just 3/4 areas linked :D

But would it be any fun/would it make a game that was any fun to play? I enjoy creative aspects to games but making my own pokemon game doesn't sound like it'd actually be much fun, too much work to create something worth playing.
