What was confirmed was that one has to pay to play used/borrowed games for the first time, right?

Yes, and that is no different from the current system. You go into a shop, pay money and take home your game.

I wasn't aware that big retailers would cover that fee. I suppose that mitigates the problem to some extent, but for someone like me who happens to get most of my used games from ebay, and I'd prefer reselling them there, too. Not sure how it is in the UK, but stores tend to offer ridiculously low prices for used games around here (I remember Game Stage offering 8€ for Baten Kaitos. I could probably get)

In the end, I'm just saddened at the prospect that this ridiculous measure might just go unnoticed by the masses, after all.

Whether I get a PS4 or an XBone there is no way in hell I'm going to pay £600 =\

I'm confident of it not actually costing that much but it's such a ridiculous price that I'm surprised that's what Amazon went with as a place-holder.

That's kind of the point though. Amazon put the price that high so if anyone preorders now and when the price is actually announced then they wouldn't have to honour the lower price the originally offered it at.

There is no registration fee currently. If Microsoft charge the retail price for a used game it will end the used game market in one fell swoop. Nobody is going to buy a second hand game if they then have to pay the new cost to register the game, and if they game shops swallow this cost then that will come out of the trade in price, so trade in values will be next to nothing.

There is no way in hell the new license will be RRP, doesn't make any sense. No one would do it. But even £10 would be a lot of money in my opinion. You buy a physical disc you should be able to do what the fuck you want with it.

The system will work and maybe invisible (other than the high prices) in game stores, but what about personal sales and loans etc? MS better have a great system in place for all this because it sounds like nothing other than a disaster at the minute.

Absolutely disgraceful reveal. And I'm 100% opposed this system. The used game bullshit doesn't bother me, sounds no different than steam. People are up in arms because ermagerd consoles shouldn't have DRM because they never did before. Well, I agree but I can't fault them for having CD keys essentially. HOWEVER online required, fuck that shit, even steam doesn't go that far.

I'm opposed to it mainly because they've lost their focus this generation, quite similar to Sony, that's forgiveable at a later date though when the mistake is realized....what isn't forgivable for me is that fucking Kinect is required and is ALWAYS watching and listening. That right there makes me say I will never ever ever own a Xbox One.

lol Marcus on Invisible Walls just said what if Mirror's Edge 2 is a Kinect game! :p ... I guess like the fitness courses in Wii Sports Plus where you jump to avoid obstacles and 'jog' to run! lol

I can see it ;)

Steam does actually go that far, its just while the Xbox One has to do an online check every 24 hours apparently Steam has to every 30 days or something.

30 days I can certainly understand. 30 days allows the user to have their account offline for a certain amount of time, especially if the power goes out or they have particularly shitty internet and don't want to use it as examples.

24 hours is just not long enough, they might as well have just had the system always online. It would have led to less confusion.

Im looking forward to hearing some clarification on the 24 hours comment from MS at E3 because I have been wondering if it is 24 hours at all or thats just how often it will perform the online check if you leave your Xbox One on all the time (which they are probably expecting you will now, like a Sky box or something) so could that mean that if you do turn it off it could require that check each time its turned on.

So why do people have it in their heads that Mirror's Edge 2 could be an Xbox One game only? Honest question, I just havent seen anything that made me think that.
Only because the couple of amazon listings that have been taken down were Xbox One listings.

And maybe because you could assume EA and Microsoft are cozying up a little.

I just dont think that EA and MS are cozying as much as people think, especially on this forum where there are a lot of bitter Nintendo fans. I think its going to be mostly early DLC and stuff like that we will see like we did with COD this gen.

Yeah probably.

Hopefully it is multiplatform, a sequel has potential... or it could go the other way and be more of a shooter and ruin it's potential... but either way I'd like to see.

Microsoft and EA have raging boners for each other right now.

EA are all about the bottom line.

For a second there, I thought you were saying that EA were the bottom in this relationship.

Although a Banjo-Kazooie Kinect minigame collection (as the name heavilly suggests) sounds like what I would expect.

Slightly related. One of the games on that image - Halo: Spartan Assault - has just been

as some dual-stick shooter tablet game.

Wow! I think that Fantasia Music Evolved might literally be the single most offensive game of all time for me...

Its sheer existence is utter sacrilege. How dare they slap the Fantasia name on this shit!

I never thought that anyone would stoop so low as to dubstep Fantasia, but here we are... Truly nothing is sacred in this god forsaken industry
