Cube Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 If they're going to delay it in a territory, surely Japan is the best option? They don't have to worry about the neXtbox over there.
Rowan Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Share features sounds cool if true. Touchpad could be cool too - use different gestures to instantly bring up different menus or traverse through. Not too fussed if Sony swap the dpad and left stick. I don't mind the current positioning but it is definitely more comfortable having it in the position the Gamecube and 360 pad has them. Ultimately though it'll be the games and price point that determines if/when I buy a PS4 rather than technical functionality.
Jon Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Get this touch pad gash to fuck. I don't want all this motion bullshit. JUST PWETTY GRAPHICS AND A NEW UNCHARTED PLZ.
Dcubed Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I was going to say because 'Fuck Europe' but for some reasons didn't want to insult the non-UKers. Fuck Europe. I'm a little suspicious though since the Vita launched in the US and Europe at the same time. If it is true, I guess the one upside is we'll likely get more launch titles. Really you should be saying "fuck Sony" for treating us like 2nd class citizens... It's their fault for not giving us and mainland Europe the attention we deserve!
Daft Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I already said their decision was bullshit. Sure, if this is true, fuck Sony. Take my GODDAMN money.
ReZourceman Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 If Uncharted 4 has not been announced yet....
Retro_Link Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 If Uncharted 4 has not been announced yet.... ... then they must be saving it to BLOW MY MIND!!
Daft Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I wonder if there's a chance for full Steam integration, especially with the PS4 being so similar to a PC. With Valve having their sights set on the living room it would be a massive boost to partner up with Sony and likewise Steam available on PS4 would be an absolute killer. There's actually no downside for either party. Also, probably nothing, but Gabe suspiciously name dropped Sony in an interview a few weeks ago. Of all the companies to mention, Sony is a bit of a strange one. http://www.theverge.com/2013/1/8/3852144/gabe-newell-interview-steam-box-future-of-gaming Right now there’s one Steam store. We think that the store should actually be more like user generated content. So, anybody should be able to create a store, and it should be about extra entertainment value. Our view has always been that we should build tools for customers and tools for partners. An editorial filter is fine, but there should be a bunch of editorial filters. The backend services should be network APIs that anybody can use. On the consumer side, anybody should be able to put up a store that hooks into those services. Our view is that, in the same way users are critical in a multiplayer experience, like the fellow next to you is critical to your enjoyment, we should figure out how we can help users find people that are going to make their game experiences better. Some people will create team stores, some people will create Sony stores, some people will create stores with only games that they think meet their quality bar. Somebody is going to create a store that says "these are the worst games on Steam." So that’s an example of where our thinking is leading us right now. Currently there's the PS Store and Plus, eventually Gaikai will arrive in some form - why not Steam? Maybe Steam could start to use Gaikai and Sony would eventually become a hardware free platform. Pigs can fly, right?
Cube Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 "By using Gaikai on the PS4, you can now stream your entire Steam catalogue through your TV"
heroicjanitor Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) I really hope gaikai is a standard for ps4, letting people subscribe to play ps2 / ps3 games from the cloud. The hardware would be much more expensive if they had to include some other way to play ps3 games, like how they did with early ps3s (just stuck ps2 hardware in the case). Also the dead zone is bigger on ps3 controllers? When I went to my friends house I felt the sticks were less accurate and attributed it to needing to move the stick more to get the pool cue (game we played) to move than I would have done on ps3. The two sticks being on the bottom also gave me more leverage. I tend to use my index finger on the right stick though so concave sticks are also fairly important to me. Retro_Link Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Also the dead zone is bigger on ps3 controllers?I'm playing Heavy Rain atm, and on some of the 'push slowly' movements, it does seem to take a while before the movement actually kicks in!... unless it's me just being ultra careful and thinking I'm moving it when in fact I'm not yet. :p

So, how's that going for you? I'm interested in what choices you are making and how you feel about the game.
Debug Mode Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Reference to Doritos gate Possibly one of my favourite parody Twitter accounts. Some of the tweets are absolute comedy gold One of my recent favourites.. Nintendo confirming they are making a new Mario Kart game is about as surprising as us confirming we are making losses #NintendoDirect
Daft Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Sony aiming at ~$400 for PlayStation 4 - report...Rumour I'd happily throw £400 at Sony for a new console. Not sure how many other people would, though. I suspect they'll hit the £350 mark.

Not sure how many other people would, though. I suspect they'll hit the £350 mark. I'd pay up to £350 - with a game - maybe... but I don't really want to upgrade yet as I still have plenty to play on my PS3... ... however if they implement the 'one owner game code' thing that the next Xbox might employ as well then they won't be getting a penny out of me on principle.
Sheikah Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Sony aiming at ~$400 for PlayStation 4 - report...Rumour I'd happily throw £400 at Sony for a new console. Not sure how many other people would, though. I suspect they'll hit the £350 mark. I think I would be happy with something like £325. The PS3 was £425 when it came out and I sunk money on that, but at the time Blu Ray drives were really expensive and that sorta justified the cost. The specs being hinted at I don't think justify £400 (assuming they just switch $ to £). £400 would build you a fairly decent PC. I'd pay up to £350 - with a game - maybe... but I don't really want to upgrade yet as I still have plenty to play on my PS3... ... however if they implement the 'one owner game code' thing that the next Xbox might employ as well then they won't be getting a penny out of me on principle. Whoever does this will be absolutely raped by piracy. And will have no sympathy.
Daft Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Yeah, and they don't have to recoup costs from spending untold amounts on custom CELL rubbish. I think it'll be £350. Based on how much the PS3 cost when it came out and how much tell R&D and tech-unknowns were in it compared to the PS4. I'd imagine Sony would love it if Microsoft restricted second-hand sales. They'd have no incentive to sell an Xbox, whereas a PS4 would keep second-hand alive.

I wonder if their parent was a elaborate ploy - Microsoft copy the idea and Sony don't go through it it, making Sony look like the better company.
Daft Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 (edited) I don't think Sony are that smart. They probably just try and copyright everything they possibly can like every other stupid large company in the world. Last one is my favourite. Edit: MOOOOAR Edited February 7, 2013 by Daft
Retro_Link Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Think an updated Eyetoy was to be expected... Rumour: Sony dual camera detailed Yet more rumours have emerged surrounding the next PlayStation, this time in respect of its dual camera. According to VGLeaks, the 'dual camera' appears to be an evolutioned HD Eyetoy instead of a Kinect device. According to the information posts it contains a pair of wide-angle cameras with each offering a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (720p). Sound is processed by a 4 microphone array working at 48 Khz. The main features of the new camera are said to be that it can recognise the user and log into the system based on this information and that it can also be used for video chat. As far as gaming goes, VGLeaks suggests that it supports head and hand tracking as new game inputs. There is no indication as to whether it will support full body tracking like its rival Kinect at this time. It's expected that the dual camera will be bundled with the next PlayStation. Daft Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 The current PS Eye already has a microphone array (and you can already video-chat with it...not that I know anyone that used it). That kind of resolution would be pretty impressive - I reckon 3D Skype calls might be an option. Bitches (read: Sony) love 3D. Yeah, totally wouldn't be surprised if they ignore, for the most part, full body tracking. Gabe Newel said it, but head (preferably eye tracking but I don't think that resolution could track the eye...dunno) tracking, is an area of real interest. I'm going to keep having this sneaking suspicion that Steam and Playstation are going to get jiggy with each other.
Daft Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Sony: PS4's main selling point will be 'new playing options, not improved hardware specs' So far, everything seems to be going perfectly (if all this shizzle is true). I await inevitable fuck-up.
Ashley Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 It won't be 'new playing options', it will just be the one - butt ball!
