Dcubed Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) Only a 25% size reduction? Not impressed. It's also ugly as shit (now it looks even more like a grill! ) And has that price actually gone UP!? Even the wonkily sized 12GB flash model is more expensive than the cheapest PS3 today! (and that can't be costing them nearly as much as the HDD model!) WTF is Sony doing!? Why aren't they lowering the price and doing a Vita bundle to take on the Wii U and boost Vita sales!? S.C.G Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Here we go again... I'll stick with my NTSC launch model PS3 thanks.

Debug Mode Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I'm curious as to what price the retailers are going to sell the 12GB flash based PS3 at. If they can make it £150ish, there could be some brilliant competition come Christmas.

Dcubed Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) I'm curious as to what price the retailers are going to sell the 12GB flash based PS3 at. If they can make it £150ish, there could be some brilliant competition come Christmas. It's more expensive than the current 160GB model, so it'll be at least £189.99 (probably £199.99) You can forget any idea of brilliant competition at that price (oh and apparently it STILL doesn't come with a HDMI cable ) Edit: Maybe not... Sony does what Nintendoes (as usual!) it seems... http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2012/09/19/scee-on-the-new-ps3-we-dont-set-pricing/ “With regards to price, we no longer set an RRP, instead, that will be dictated by individual retailers themselves,” I bet retailers will still go with at least £189.99-£199.99 though... Cube Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I thought the idea for this was to give the console a big price drop? I was expecting something ridiculous like £130.
Hero-of-Time Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I thought the idea for this was to give the console a big price drop? I was expecting something ridiculous like £130. Yeah, I find this quite baffling to be honest and yeah it is ugly.
Daft Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) I'll post this here because no one seems to want to release any good pictures of it. Upright I'm not a fan but from the front I actually think it's the nicest iteration of the console. From the front it looks slick as sin. I love it. Although I think the Slim is fugly. Agreed the slim is an eyesore and this is a much nicer looking machine...though I prefer it upright :p Wish I had this instead of the slim which I bought earlier in the year but oh well.
Agent Gibbs Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 wow its ugly and it looks like an Amp for a Sub in a car, and those get hidden for a reason still no reason to get rid of my launch model 60gb, if they ever add in ps2 backwards compatibility then i may consider it. prices are typical sony in fairness, they are loosing money on the gaming devision and aren't willing to take a further loss to drive sales
Sheikah Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Why did they make the plastic on the top corrugated? Looks so fugly. The first still looks the best, despite it being bigger.
sumo73 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Not sure about the newer look PS3 but then I said that about the PS3 Slim and I wouldn't go back to my old original PS3 at all now. Pricing for the 12 GB Flash model seems too high, under £200 is a lot better. However I've heard that Sony will probably not set an official RRP for the UK so it's up to the high street and online retailers to set the prices. Does anyone know if the newer models use less electricity?
Nolan Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I like it, if the price is right it may replace my slim, since the HDMI port shat itself and fuck that 720p component shit.

Does anyone know if the newer models use less electricity? They pretty much should do. The slims have seen a constant reduction in size on the inside and are lighter. Will be interesting to see the insides considering the size. Impressive considering the PS3 has its power adapter and more components than the WiiU and 360. The removal of the slot drive is a shame but not a big deal this many years in. People can clean their drive lense if necessary. I doubt we will see any serious price cuts given that Nintendo decided to go with cheaper to manufacture hardware than the 360 or PS3. MS and Sony will be quite jealous of Nintendo's margins. flameboy Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 The ps3 had got progressively more ugly as time has gone on. I'm still gutted my phat broke. I couldn't justify buying a second hand one over a slim but I think it looks weedy by comparison. The new looks even worse.

Shame really cause the Vita is a really nice looking machine (as was the PS2 Slim and the PSone)

Guy Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 From a BBQ to a sandwich toaster. Is George Foreman designing for Sony nowadays?
Nolan Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Just heard the rumor that there is no Wi-Fi in this model. I'm on my phone so I can't really check easily, but if true no buy.
Choze Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Just heard the rumor that there is no Wi-Fi in this model. I'm on my phone so I can't really check easily, but if true no buy. It has wifi, gigabit ethernet port and everything. Just smaller. Different disk tray loading mechanism.
