Nolan Posted Saturday at 01:25 AM Posted Saturday at 01:25 AM Over the past weekend binged the hell through the Alien franchise. Alien-Great Aliens-Great Alien 3-Good (fight me) Alien Resurrection-GARBAGE (where’s the sicko on here that places it above 3? We need to schedule a fight!) Prometheus-(Skipped this time since it’s recently watched but it’s)good Alien Covenant-Bleeeeh. Alien Romulus-Not terrible nearly good, until that scene that is inexplicably dumb and awful and you know the one and if you defend it….wow. New Years was recent US Godzilla vs/X Kong movies with the fam. Fine but definitely kept thinking I could just watch Pacific Rim. Exactly this moment, Blade Runner 2048- in progress. 1

The hilarious part is I can't tell if you meant to type '2049' or if you're watching the 5-minute prequel, 2048 (which I guess would be over by the time of my reply) Edited Saturday at 01:33 AM by Julius 1

I enjoyed it more than 3 and 1. Although I didn't like the first film because I had friends that told me every single detail about it before I saw it, so I couldn't get into it knowing so much about it. I also have a soft spot for Resurrection because the crew in it is made up of prototype Firefly characters.

I used to rate the first film very highly but after you know what it is they are dealing with, the film loses a lot of its appeal and I just end up feeling bored every time I've watched it again. The only issue I have with Resurrection is the design of the alien at the end. Other than that, I find it quite enjoyable and I love the banter between all the crew members. Ron Pearlman really hams it up and shines in this movie.
Happenstance Posted Saturday at 09:22 AM Posted Saturday at 09:22 AM I enjoy the first half of Resurrection, the second half not so much. The first Alien movie is still my favourite, much prefer the single threat. If I had to rank them it would probably go: Alien Aliens Alien 3 Alien Romulus (might have been higher but I find the fan service distracting to the point it started to ruin the movie for me) Prometheus Alien Resurrection Alien Covenant

I have no idea why I wrote 2048 because I was watching the original. Just half paying attention and went “yeah that’s the title that makes sense” 🤦♂️ 2
Cube Posted Saturday at 11:10 PM Posted Saturday at 11:10 PM I watched Wicked Part 1 tonight. I saw the musical itself last July and enjoyed it and the movie is a really good adaptation. They don't mess around with the story (just add a few background details), instead just using the advantage of film to display amazing environments and tell some stuff in a more visual way. I was most surprised by Jeff Goldblum, who was actually acting in this and not speaking in his usual elongated voice. 1 1
BowserBasher Posted Sunday at 10:35 AM Posted Sunday at 10:35 AM @Cube Yup, musical is one of my favourites and I was surprised that they stuck as closely to it as they did. I knew it was based off that and not the book itself but I had heard that they were going to add a bit more from the book (which I thought would be more of the stuff when Elphaba was still a child) but they really didn't. No bad thing as it still worked just as well. Did you catch the two cameo appearances during the Wizomania song? I didn't know about that and thought it was a nice way to have them both included.

Julius Posted yesterday at 08:54 AM Posted yesterday at 08:54 AM Announced at CES, Columbia Pictures is developing a film adaptation of Horizon: Zero Dawn, meaning that Netflix show is finally dead... ...and a Helldivers film has also been announced (no further info yet on this one). Huh.
Dcubed Posted yesterday at 09:31 AM Posted yesterday at 09:31 AM So... basically Starship Troopers then? Pretty ironic considering that Sony already own Starship Troopers anyway
drahkon Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago (edited) Just watched The Substance. "How on the nose can you be with your message?" The Substance: "Yes!" Jokes aside: what a movie. I'm not a fan of body horror (this was actually my first movie of that genre), but it worked quite well. It was very blunt, yes, but...it worked. It could've been a little shorter, though. Some scenes dragged on and did so without any real purpose. Edited 20 hours ago by drahkon 1
