The Peeps Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 It really doesn't flow right. Super Mario Land 3D is fine but Super Mario 3D Land? It just feels wrong. Wario Land is amazing. The first 3 games are brilliant, then it got shit.
James McGeachie Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 ^Shake Dimension is a great game, if it counts!
Hamishmash Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Gameplay from two levels... The airship level looked a bit short and easy but I guess it's early in the game.

ReZourceman Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Oh god, its beautiful. This is why I bought a 3DS.
MindFreak Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Yeah, Super Mario 3D Land sounds really weird. Easy to see that they want to avoid confusing it with a 3D version of SML but it's still off in some way. Other than that it looks great. Could easily convince me to buy a 3DS.
Magnus Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Not wanting people to confuse the game with a 3D remake of Super Mario Land is a pretty bad excuse for the odd name, though. JUST NAME IT SOMETHING ELSE. :p Unless it really is set in a place called 3D Land.
Retro_Link Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Love how the guy in the video talk up the 3D as really helping with jumping ec... and then proceeds to be really shit at accurate jumping!
Cube Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Love how the guy in the video talk up the 3D as really helping with jumping ec... and then proceeds to be really shit at accurate jumping! Apart from identifying cardboard goombas (I'm assuming the only point of those is to trick people with 3D off...although the fact that they don't move also gives them away), the 3D doesn't really add much. Although the cardboard goombas have convinced me that Paper Mario is going to look immense.
Hamishmash Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I thought the pipe room with the block in the foreground made to look like the background kinda funky. As for names... why not just something NOT SMBL related? Afterall it seems to look more like SMB 3 and SMB World. Why not just do a Mario Kart 7 and call it ... Super Mario Bros. 4 Super Mario World 3 Super Mario Land 4 or... Super Mario 15.
mcj metroid Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Super Mario Bros. 4 . Well in japan super mario world Is called super mario bros 4.. So that can be ruled out.
Dcubed Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I actually quite like the name. It's a cool way of bringing back the old "Land" name while avoiding the obvious problems with it. Calling it "Super Mario Land 3D" makes people think it's a remake of SML (Or a remake of Wario Land!) It also steers clear of the more recent games as well and cements it as being part of it's own subseries, rather than just being another Galaxy or NSMB game.
Fierce_LiNk Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Why didn't they just give this name a title along the lines of Super Mario Sunshine or Super Mario Galaxy. So, Super Mario something. 3D Land doesn't work for me. The game itself looks absolutely wonderful, though. Can't wait.
Dog-amoto Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks this game looks a little...uninspired? Kind of like a generic not-quite-3D PSX platformer such as Crash Bandicoot.
Cube Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks this game looks a little...uninspired? Kind of like a generic not-quite-3D PSX platformer such as Crash Bandicoot. It's a stretched-out NSMB with elements from Galaxy and the old games.
Josh64 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks this game looks a little...uninspired? Kind of like a generic not-quite-3D PSX platformer such as Crash Bandicoot. I have to say I fully agree. This all just looks so simple, easy and uninspired but I'm just hoping that it's because they're early levels. I much preferred the more open Mario games like '64 as oppose to the strict Mario Galaxy type routes.
Josh64 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 http://n-europe.com/news.php?nid=16012 Too many ideas!
Mike Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I like the logo, but I do hope that within a few years Nintendo (and third parties) won't feel the need to always highlight the fact that each individual game's main selling point is that it's in 3D. Yes, it's on the 3DS, I kind of guess it's going to have glasses-free 3D graphics. Now what actually makes it a good game?
Fierce_LiNk Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I like the logo but I don't like what the logo is saying. The 3D land part just doesn't sound right at all. It's a shame that we'll have to refer to it as that for years to come.
dazzybee Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Unless it makes perfect sense within the game that it's called 3D land. Maybe some nice touches f moving from 2d into 3d, got some amazing opportunities with that kind of dynamic
Zell Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Still a much better name than New Super Mario Bros.
