James Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 How many available missions they have. Pretty sure it doesn't show the correct amount though.
Murr Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I took the advice about investing in companies while doing Franklin/Lester missions. I did the one where... You have to kill 4 jurors involved in a court case against a cigarette company, you have 8 minutes. Rather than only invest in just Franklin, I failed the mission deliberately so I could also get Trevor and Micheal to invest too, after the mission, I saved the game for time to forward a few hours, the company I invested in was making some great money. Micheal checked out with +$200,000. Franklin with +$91,000 and Trevor with +$170,000. Reading other peoples tips like invest in one airline, then blow a few planes up of rival airline and the one you've invested in will payout big, re-invest in the airline you've blown up, then blow up some planes from previous air line.. etc etc. Also there is one insurance company?? Invest in that, then just damage cars / steal cars and that should apparently increase stocks too. And the last one I've read is the... Jewelry store you rob, invest in them, as they are the only jewelers on the market, so their stock will go up and up. Also with regards to airplanes. Can you fly any of the larger planes? When I got to the airfield and tried getting into them, I can't Could only get into the private jets.
Tales Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Crazy how fast the flight skill increases. Only halfway and Franklin went from 20 something to max. Attempting to get gold on all courses but the helicopter is a bit difficult the first few times.
drahkon Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Also with regards to airplanes. Can you fly any of the larger planes? When I got to the airfield and tried getting into them, I can't Could only get into the private jets. I could enter a large plane. Tried to taxi onto the runway but crashed with a private jet and we both exploded -.- But it is possible :p
Murr Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Maybe I need to attend flight school first, as I can't even get into the planes yet, and still get wanted stars when in Los Santos Airport.
Charlie Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Also with regards to airplanes. Can you fly any of the larger planes? Maybe I need to attend flight school first, as I can't even get into the planes yet, and still get wanted stars when in Los Santos Airport. I've found that I can get into all the smaller planes and some of the larger ones. Haven't actually flown a large one yet because of the 3 stars and loads of cars blocking the path of the plane taxi-ing. If you awnt to find a small plane go through the gates (which are just after the huge jump) at the airport onto the run way, turn left around the building and cross the run way to the smaller hangers. On mine the planes don't appear until you're almost right next to them but there are two small private jets there easy to fly and can take off by going straight forward.
drahkon Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 After a major 8 hour session today I finished the story. Best game of this generation. Now only two things left: 100% completion and wrecking havoc all over town.
Sheikah Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Does your game of the generation change every game? Pretty sure you were saying that about Rayman Legends too. :p
drahkon Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Well, Rayman Legends kicked off Super Mario World from my favourite-game-throne, but I consider GTA V to be the best game this generation. If that makes any sense. :p
Mr-Paul Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Getting on OK with this so far, my first GTA, I've just gained the ability to switch to Michael so not very far in. Enjoying it but not really getting BEST GAME EVEEEEER vibes from it yet. My one main complaint is that all on screen text, like when it comes up with hints/tips and when you have a message on your phone, is TINY. Maybe it's better on a smaller TV.
Helmsly Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Yeah i'm really enjoying this game too, its the most fun I've had in a GTA game since Vice City. I took the advice about investing in companies while doing Franklin/Lester missions. I did the one where... You have to kill 4 jurors involved in a court case against a cigarette company, you have 8 minutes. Rather than only invest in just Franklin, I failed the mission deliberately so I could also get Trevor and Micheal to invest too, I did this too but for some reason my stock lost value rather then gain it, i'm not sure why.
Tales Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I did it once with that pharmaceutical company. The stock price was still rising when I turned off the game last time. From a profit of 30 000 to a current 90 000 and increasing. Maybe you invested in the competing and completely wrong company? :p Can't wait until tomorrow. Playing 2-3 hour sessions due to work isn't quite ideal, at the end I start thinking "do I have time to do this mission, maybe I should do something else, nono I don't have time to drive all the way there etc", tomorrow an 18 hour session awaits, won't even get up to pee :p
Murr Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 tomorrow an 18 hour session awaits, won't even get up to pee :p I'm completely with you on that, 5pm tonight I'll be home from work, and i'm planning to stay on that sofa playing GTA5 for as long as i possibly can. Sunday at 11pm probably Today will be a long day I reckon
Dog-amoto Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I've had this week off work to play this. Go back to work at 5am tomorrow. Have to go to bed early tonight. Bastard.
Charlie Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I'm completely with you on that, 5pm tonight I'll be home from work, and i'm planning to stay on that sofa playing GTA5 for as long as i possibly can. Sunday at 11pm probably Today will be a long day I reckon I plan on exactly the same tomorrow and Sunday whilst hungover.
bryanee Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I spent 30 minutes in a chopper last night so I could get the entire map highlighted. I'm a good few hours into it now and man is good. Trevor is a fucking nutcase but funny at the same time, he's an awful person but I cant help but love him. I did feel a little uncomfortable with one mission last night, I wont mention specifics but that's the first time I've ever felt that way with any game. Its not quite GOTY so far, TLoU is still king right now but that could change. Its up there though.
Retro_Link Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I did feel a little uncomfortable with one mission last night, I wont mention specifics but that's the first time I've ever felt that way with any game.Hmm, this is the issue I have with getting it. Don't really need that from my games.
Dog-amoto Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 This made me chuckle for some reason. No spoilers or anything.
Jimbob Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I tried getting my hands on a tank yesterday, didn't work too well as i was blown away within 20 feet of it.
RedShell Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 So how good is GTA V? Good enough that I went and bought a console that's going to be superseded in a couple of months just to play it! Yeah, I got caught up in the hype, lacked patience to wait for the PC version, and came across a pretty good deal (500GB PS3 Slim + GTA V + The Last of Us, for £180) all of those things (plus the fact there's nothing to play on Wii U right now) combined and caused me to loose my marbles. But I'm really glad I did, as this game is just ridiculous. It's actually frightening thinking about how much work must have gone into making it. For such a massive environment to have so much detail, and at such a high level of quality is simply mind-blowing. You can tell it's pushing 7th gen hardware to its absolute limit though, the frame rate is pretty damn flaky, especially while driving. I hear it's slightly better on the 360, but still probably not as smooth as the developers would've liked. Frame rate issues aside though, I've been seriously impressed with GTA V. It's not going to replace my favourite GTA (Vice City) purely because the setting/characters just aren't as appealing, but it's an incredible experience all the same. Bloody funny too. Some of the stuff in this game has already had me in stitches. Also super happy to discover that the radio has some .
Agent Gibbs Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 So it's not just me getting the vice city vibes then? Awesome game, the best gta for a loooong time
Ellmeister Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Played THAT mission. Felt uncomfortable and decided to stop for now
bryanee Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Played THAT mission. Felt uncomfortable and decided to stop for now Yup yup and yup.
drahkon Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Let me tell you a short story. I'll put it in spoiler tags, even though it's not really a spoiler (not a mission, nothing story relevant, just some location and vehicle spoilers) Getting a military jet from Fort Zancudo for each character's hangar. And of course...you have to do it 'their' way. That means, with Franklin, I stole an SUV and modded it (armor, bulletproof tires, engine upgrades and military colour - for style). Then I drove to the base, did some reconnaissance (i.e using a sniper rifle to locate a hangar) and figured it would be best to rush through, find the jet and jump in as quickly as possible and fly out of there even faster. The initial response was as expected: A lot of dudes shooting at me, a lot of trucks coming after me, but my SUV was too strong. What I didn't expect...4 tanks near the jet. Four tanks that shot the shit out of my car. New plan: Rush in, try to outrun or outsmart the tanks, maybe with a bit of hiding and then pray to god almighty. Will try that tomorrow Trevor's way of dealing with this is quite obvious: FUCKING RAMPAGE THE SHIT OUT OF FORT ZANCUDO. With Micheal I'd love to do a stealthy approach, but that isn't possible I guess, because of the 4-star-wanted level you immediately get as soon as you set foot into the base. I will probably skydive out of a helicopter to land as near as possible to the jet without getting into much gunfire (I hope...). That's as 'stealthy' as it can get. This is the kind of freedom I love in a game!
Helmsly Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 It's actually frightening thinking about how much work must have gone into making it. For such a massive environment to have so much detail, and at such a high level of quality is simply mind-blowing. I hear you, he level of detail in this game is just insane.
