Day 14 of my Pokemon advent calendar, and they've apparently run out of Pokemon already...they've resorted to just printing the logo and having pictures of Pokeball. 23d2f52671a84901ce3f8cb7d68a703e.jpg

Been taking Naproxen for a week and it's just fucked with my stomach. Got a really bad stomach ache a few days ago and it hasn't went away. Apparently one of the side-effects of this is stomach ulsers and bleeding in the stomach >_<

Heck of a storm going over our city right now (well, not only our city, the whole federal state). These gusts of wind are scary...

The way to and from work was quite dangerous. I avoided places with lots of trees but there was still plenty of stuff flying around. I'm not leaving my flat again today.

Stay safe, bro.

I feel you on that. I’m not even middle of nowhere and 4-5 inches of snow can basically shut down all but about 5 roads plus the freeway. They just don’t plow or salt hardly at all.

The irony is that Detroit is the largest salt mine in the world and we can’t salt our fucking roads.

After quite some time if arguing, my wife finally won and made me throw out my boxes for my consoles. Wii U, Xbox 360 and Switch. And some boxes for my old phones. :(

I like keeping the original boxes stuff comes in if the boxes are nice. But she's right, we don't have the space for it anymore.

*sigh* I feel your pain, I keep a LOT of boxes, too many really but, well... especially when it comes to the older stuff you kind of need to as it can amount to half of the collectable value. ::shrug:

And they are nice to look at, they also represent the era they were produced in, just the design differences between the Wii U and Switch era boxes are worlds apart.

But I can also see how they would be "just boxes" to some, plus if you're fighting for space inside the house then I can understand it from that perspective... only a bit though. :p

Did you comepletely get rid of them yet? it may have been possible to put some of the smaller boxes inside the larger boxes for instance... I'm happy to share any box storing tips if it helps. :peace:

Even if we're talking pure monetary value at the moment, empty Wii U and Switch console boxes are worth £10 a piece it seems. (people are buying them for £15 including postage)

It's an issue long-term though I suppose and I know they are "only boxes" ultimately but damn... I hope you don't have to end up chucking any old console boxes like GC/N64/SNES/NES etc because you're talking about a whole higher bracket of value there.

I used to keep boxes for a lot of things, like consoles. Over the last few years, I've started to develop a "de-clutter" mindset and do wonder why we keep this sorta stuff. It's usually a sentimental sort of reason. I remember I kept the N64 box in my bedroom cupboard back home in Wales and every time I looked at that box, I remembered the day I bought it. But, when I look at it, I realise that it's just a box and it just takes up way too much space. These days, I prefer to buy games digitally, steam music and tv and don't really enjoy collecting physical media. It just takes up waaaay too much space.

If we keep all of the old stuff, there's not going to be enough room for new memories. I think that's the crux of it. Getting rid of the box doesn't mean you're letting go of the memory. The memory will always be there, somewhere.

So, it's a good thing. Hard to do and sad, but ultimately it's good. We're sifting through stuff at the moment and are kinda in the same situation.

I just learned that Kayne West had another baby. (And fucking named it Chicago of all things.)

I also learned it’s his third fucking child.

Maybe I should get out from under my rock more often.

8.2 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Alaska early this morning. Tsunami warning issued for the southern Alaskan coast all the way down the coast of Canada. The rest of the US west coast is I think tsunami watch currently.

I’ve got a friend and her family out that way in Vancouver but I’m pretty sure they’re not living in the danger zone. Vancouver is mostly shielded by the island and her family lives on the east side of the island too.

Still though, radio said they had sirens and stuff going off at like 2 am local time. That would be a scary wake up call. Here’s hoping it’s all a false alarm.

I think it's pretty much going by the name Chi ('shy') but it's kind of a nice homage to his hometown.

This one was by surrogacy so it's no wonder it caught you by surprise, but how did you not hear something about the second?  It's like not hearing about the Royals getting married and pregnant, except the West Kardashians actually work :p

I live under a rock. It’s safe under my rock, fewer dissenting views.

Mark E Smith, lead singer of The Fall, has died aged 60. A true British music icon who has been consistently producing music for the better part of five decades. I was priveleged enough to see him perform numerous times and his music and lyrics have left an indelible mark on me, he was one of my musical heroes and I feel pretty sick that he's gone now.

ISPs appear to become very aggressive when it comes to getting new customers.

We've been with a certain ISP for 4 years in our flat now and today someone from a different ISP just came to our door with the following agenda:

"I will activate fibre optic internet today so you will have insane internet speeds; I can show you the connection. I'm also surprised that your landlord didn't notify you about the fibre optics." (he was ready to enter our flat but I didn't move from the door; I could see that my flatmate was a little "scared"; she talked with him for about 15 seconds before I joined the scene)
My response: "We already are with an ISP and don't want to change."
"I have a contract here, so you can switch over to us and benefit from high speed internet; it's also cheaper." (I've already checked prices with their service a couple of months ago and it's 5€ more per month, but I have to admit that internet would be much faster; however, we don't want to change because we have no need for that; anyway, impressive how quickly he changed from "activating something" to "let me sell you stuff")
"Well, as I said, we're already with an ISP and do not want to change."
"So, you want to stay with that slow ass internet?" (seriously, he basically said the German equivalent to "slow ass internet".)
"Yes.
"Alright, bye." (he was annoyed, or rather pissed, and immediately walked up the stairs, probably ready to try this with the other residents)

Been searching the web now and it looks like this has been going on for quite some time. Two possibilities:

  • that guy wasn't an employee at the ISP he was pretending to be working for
  • or he really was and wanted to gain new customers to earn commission (is this the right word? making a sale and getting a cut?)

In any case...what an asshole, and what a dick move from the company if they really employ those shady tactics. I can see a lot of older people getting tricked...:nono:

"Scheiß"...I probably don't need to explain that.

Well my aunt went in for a heart bypass last Thursday. Surgery didn't go too well so They sent her down to a specialist in Carlisle. Doesn't seem to be responding well at all for the last few days and now they've decided to withdraw medication. Not really expecting her to live to the end of the week, or much past it.
