Raining_again Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 ohh well done peeps! how'd you go??? I had sort of good news today, big boss lady came down...said she had news about permanency and our banding appeal, although I not sure whether or not to trust it! We'll probably have to jump through hoops just for a secure job... bad times
nightwolf Posted March 24, 2012 Author Posted March 24, 2012 After having such a shit week, yesterday was great. Nearly having my first crash, running out of petrol, not getting something I wanted because I was screwed over. Etc. So friday I wasn't really chirpy. But my new phone turned up - which is awesome, work was really quiet and mellow (but fun) and my boss bought us ice cream to eat in the office. Awesomes
Cube Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 The weather in Manchester today was glorious - probably better than the majority of last year's summer. I also became a regular at a bar.
The Bard Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Yeah the weather today was freakishly good felt pretty good to get out of the house for a change. What bar is it? [/stalk].
Cube Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 It's called TV21. I've already mentioned somewhere how orgasmic their burgers are.
The Bard Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Oh yeah, I know that place, just a little ways from the Printworks... went there before stumbling to Birdcage a few months ago. Worst night of my life
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I can't remember the last time I was this positive and energetic on a Sunday! I'm normally always stricken with the Sunday blues. Probably due to the amazing weather and the upcoming spring holiday next week when I'll be visiting my best friend from gymnasium whom I haven't seen a long time!
Coolness Bears Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Since I ventured outside yesterday I decided to stock up on an abundance of fruit! (weird but healthy craving) Currently tucking into a juicy Orange and a cup of Darjeeling Tea. Today's plans are to plan the write up of my discussion and finish my method. Oh and since my flatmate (and everyone) has gone home for Easter I am all alone. Within minutes I managed to trip up and smack ass down onto my laptop keyboard fall to the floor and bruise my little toe/crack the nail. Will Coolness Bears survive on his own for more than 3 weeks? Will he ever learn how to properly dissect an Orange? and Will he be able to reconcile with his imaginary pet who he accidentally upset last night? All this and more on Coolness Bears new segment: A Daily Countdown to Madness. WATCH THIS SPACE.
Ashley Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Went south of the river as my friends had a pop up shop in Camberwell and it was their last day so I said I'd go and see them. Was nice cycling down there (which, as it turns out took about 45 minutes, not bad) and just being around in the sunshine. Had a pretty pleasant Sunday. Should practice my presentations for tomorrow a bit more but think I may play Uncharted instead... And fun.'s We Are Young has been 'translated' into Simlish! Good times.
Ellmeister Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Got to see Zach Braff's "All New People" yesterday. I did that family guy thing where the person said the name of the play and I HAD to tell my girlfriend "SHE JUST SAID THE NAME OF THE PLAY." It was good, not great, but good! My girlfriend didn't like it at all, and I think I may have liked it mainly because it had Braff in it :p

Emma Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Me and @Dan Dare have been 'Facebook official' for 1 year. Here are some photos of the weekend: Mysterious flowers appeared in my classroom on Friday morning! We ate and drank at an amazing restaurant called 'Kitchen' on Ecclesall Rd in Sheffield on Friday night. On Saturday morning we decided on a last minute trip to York: Smiles outside York Minster walking round the Wall. Room we stayed in. The 'transport' from The National Railway Museum to York Minster. An absolutely amazing weekend. Oh and tomorrow our new sofa and armchair arrives .
gmac Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I love how Dan's joy is tempered by that little girls boredom!
ReZourceman Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Claire and I went to Brighton for our anniversary this weekend. I was expecting it to be very good...but it was better than I could have imagined. We did have plans, and I will go through them. So we got up on Saturday morning, and just before we left I was like "Oooh...I wonder if anywhere sells macaroons" so I googled it and found a place called "Cocoa" that seemed to garner a lot of praise. I noted the address. We then left. This time I drove there, and it was actually surprisingly not far away. Approximately 1.5 hours or a little more. Anyway, we stopped off at McDonalds on the way. Claire had the sausage and pancakes and only wanted half her sausage so I had a double.5 sausage and egg mcmuffin. I came to the conclusion today (after many years) that the egg is TOO muting. It dumbs down the greasiness, saltiness and flavour of the sausage too much. So from now on, I will dispose of the egg from my mcmuffins. This is a bit of a revelation. Anyway, we then got on our way for the rest of the journey. We parked up, and went to the hotel. The Grand. o_______0 We dropped off our bags (it was only about 10am or so), and left to do some shopping. We went into HMV for I had plans to purchase Moneyball and Kid Icarus...they were sold out of it....I was sadface. It meant that....an entire city/town so big as Brighton and with HMV being sold out + GAME not stocking it/gamestation closed, there was nowhere to purchase the high profile game release. Lawdy. The guy said to me "I don't think they ordered enough." and I laughed about that when we left the shop. You don't THINK they ordered enough....well....its sold out....and I want it....so they definitely didn't order enough[/jokey way]. We then saw a cool sweet/choccie shop, found Bens Cookies, and went into the LEGO shop. They did not have any Marvel LEGO. Thats fine. We then walked up towards Cocoa. We found Cocoa. My god. Their macaroons were absolutely GODLY. The best I have ever tasted. Absolute winztitude. We than went to the weird/indy/cool back alley bit (I don't know what its called but its the area with ridiculously cool shops in), and went to the comic shop. I managed to pick up about 6 Invincible back issues....INCLUDING ONE OF MY FAVOURITE ISSUES... And in the comic shop I picked up some comics I was missing, and they had Super Crooks by Mark Millar on a special price of £1.50 so I grabbed that. We then went down to the sea front, and to the pier. We walked around, played some attractions and soaked up the sun. We played a Dolphin Derby and I kicked Claire's ass. We then went and had lunch. Agreeing that we should have fish and chips, and wanting to get out of the sun for a little bit so we decided to go to the, perhaps overpriced but still popular Harry Ramsdens. The chips were okay, but the fish was really very delicious so that was pretty good. We then left and headed to the hotel to properly check in/check out the room and such. It was about 3pm by this point. The hotel was very....very posh. Claire and I are not exactly posh people. We walked in and there was a pianist playing a (piano) and the decor/decore was like...super posh. It was all extremely lovely and very fitting for the expression of each others love. Blayadda yadda. Anyway, we went up to the room. They did not upgrade us to a sea view. Motherfuckers. I swear that only happens ; A) In films B) To other people that aren't me. We have never been upgraded. Anyway, the room was still beautiful....we had robes. ROBES. And there was a bottle of still and a bottle of sparkling water in the fridge. We discussed for a few seconds over whether they were free, and decided that they were. We watched a bit of Land of the Lost and went out to the Casino, which is something I had wanted to do with Claire. We walked there, registered, and went in....the lift. We went out onto the floor, and it was a nice/okay casino. Good. We hit up the roulette table. It was a 50p table, so already a bit non standard for me. Claire seemed to be winning a good few spins, but it was only on 6 numbers (so only like...5 chips) and I wasn't doing all too well. I had one spin come in, I think that was it. So I lost £40 at the table and Claire lost £20. We decided to walk away, as we were leaving Claire pointed out the machines, I was like "Yeah okay" and she put in £5 I put in £20. These are the touch screen machines that have a camera at the roulette tables. A few spins in and Claire was down () just not our nights...then I came in, and got £36. I spent the £6 and withdrew the £30. Going to the cashier, so I was happy I had won back half my money. We then decided to pop on another table for a little bit. Extremely extremely non standard....this table had the option of 25p chips. So I took that option,Claire and I shared and I did lolbetting. Came in a couple of times and ended up £30 up, so I had fully re-cooperated my losses! Excellent. We then left. On the way back to the hotel, we went to JBs Diner. This place is absolutely fantastic. They do big milkshakes, and give you the metal milkshake mixer too so you get SO MUCH, and because we weren't mega hungry, but peckish we purchased/ordered a sharing platter that contained onion rings, chicken dippers and (one of my favourite things ever) Mozzerella Dippers. They were massive. Milshake wise, Claire had Vanilla, I had Peanut Butter. We then realised we were close to missing The Voice and hastily headed back to the hotel, picking up a (what I thought was sparkling) Raspberry Ribena (but turned out being still) and when I was 3/4 done drinking it (back at the hotel) I poured some sparkling water in for fruity fizzy refreshment. We got back in time to watch The Voice which we thoroughly enjoyed and Britains Got Talent, which I don't really like, think its too Americanized (in the way it is horribly editted) and that it felt distinctly lacking in class, especially after the win-fest that was The Voice. Macaroon eating there was room for. We then went to bed. Here is the view from our room. We had to get up reasonably early to move the car from the car park (24 hour limit) so we got up...and headed down for breakfast. Breakfast was....absolutely godly. There was bread, and like...I don't think...I have ever had better bread. I didn't realise such a perfect texture could be achieved (a small baguette) the crispy and crunch yet, eatable (edible) outside and the unbelievably soft interior. So it was absolutely delicious. The only problem was the glasses were too small. But I had like....full cooked breakfast, bread and a pain-au-chocolat. It was so god damn num. We then checked out. Then got the car, and re-parked in the adjacent car park. Went round the shops again, but nowhere was really open yet, so we played in the arcade for a bit... I purchased a refreshing and cold fruit drink from Costa Coffee, and we had this whilst waiting for shops to open. Browsed generally, went back to Cocoa to buy my macaroons as we had nearly finished the first batch and NEEDED SO MANY MORE TO TAKE BACK. We walked through some other back lanes, picked up Bens Cookies and some sweeties, and then went back to the pier for one last go on some arcade machines. We went down to the shore side bit and played some arcades in there. We played Puzzle Bobble...and I somehow lost the first round, despite me having two free hands and Claire only having one free hand...I don't know how that happened. Then we won this bad boy from £1. Then each feeling only very passingly peckish, from all the energy we had used we decided to get fish and chips, a small portion to share between us. We sat on the shore side/restaurant outside and ate this. It was quite nice. We then went back to the car, I was sorting myself out and I think someone beeped me to "hurry up" despite only having just got into the car (well I'd taken a few seconds but still), so I decided to take longer, and as I reversed out I sarcastically waved at the bitch, and then realised her car was asmoke. Lol. Drove around, and as we came back around and passed her, it was now fully smoking and leaking everywhere. I felt a little bit bad but also found it quite funny. We then left...and got home. Had a fantastic weekend. And Claire will read this, so; thanks for the 7 years of win, love you. xxx
Happenstance Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 ...the pillars in that restaurant you ate breakfast in look like giant pepperamis
Cube Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I'll ask what everyone is thinking: Did you ask her the mph question?
Retro_Link Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) *urgh... Dan/Emma's post... now this one.............. I is sad/lonely...* Nice one Rez!! Very jealous! Sounds like a fantastic time. --- In before @Dannyboy\-the\-Dane... WTF is this?... We walked in and there was a pianist playing a (piano) and the decor/decore was like...super posh. EddieColeslaw Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 This photo really confused me. I thought it was a tunnel =__= Congrats to both couples
Emma Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I've been wanting to visit Brighton for a while, everyone who I know that's visited said it's lovely, and has a different vibe to the usual seaside town.
