Happenstance Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Weird. Apparently Blaster Master doesn't support the pro controller
Jamba Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 @Serebii and @Debug Mode : I'll just be quiet then. Ive actually done quite a lot of research into this already but not going to carry on wasting my time if no one is going toto engage in a discussion.
Ronnie Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Dunno if this is what you're after but dazzybee mentioned this near the top of the page. It's weird because I'm sure Jose at IGN mentioned checking his playtime at 70 hours or so, and from videos clicking on your profile on the Switch main menu seems to give stats per game, but I can't confirm that.

Hey sorry mate, I'm rarely lurking here and given the fast pace of the thread and the fact I'm in a different time zone means there are things I miss. But yes, I have seen your posts about it, I was also posting at the time. Really sorry bud, not intentionally ignoring you. It's still ridiculous. Boost the signal! But as we've said, you can't boost a signal if it's already operating normally. It's still possible that there is a power save on it and they could flick that off and things would get better. But if not, it's as useless as saying Microsoft could have patched the RROD issues. Doesn't work, it's bad design of the internal hardware.

I'm sure one of the peeps on here can have a check. It would be nice to see the stats per game.
Shorty Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) I got a Royal Mail text this morning saying they'll attempt delivery today (NUK). Pretty useless though since it was a business address. Luckily though I followed through with my backup plan and picked one up last night from Argos. When I eventually get ahold of my original orders, I'll just have to return them. NUK and Simply Games really dropped the ball for me. The former not that surprising but I've been singing the latter's praises lately and can only assume they lied about dispatch. About the Switch itself: Sorry to hear about the sync issues. I played all night and nothing has gone wrong. The controller is tiny though and difficult to get used to, I wish the Pro controller was more reasonably priced. Similarly, the charge grip, because now I have to hang the thing up in the dock for a bit and let it charge. Ordered a USB-c cable that's on its way but in the mean time, options are limited. Other than those negatives though, I think it's a wonderful bit of kit. Played it all last night, docked, then went to bed and played it a bunch more in handheld. Incredible the way you can just pick it up and keep playing. The touchscreen quality is fantastic. Definitely noticed it performing better in handheld (occasional FPS drop in docked, but not enough to worry about). Edited March 4, 2017 by Shorty
Emerald Emblem Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 So in the end, I've caved and ordered a Switch from Amazon, I kinda wished I caved last night as Amazons listing for Breath of the Wild Switch went up from £48 (£46 w/ Prime) to £55 (53 w/ Prime) so I set up a stock alert at ShopTo at £47 (£45 w/ Gold)
Happenstance Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Got to admit I already had a moment last night where I wished there was something like Netflix on there. I'd finished gaming in bed and wanted to watch something before I went to sleep, I would have been happy to just put the Switch into tabletop mode but instead I had to put it away and get my iPad out.

Im super ill sitting at home, so apparently I get all Cranky Kong! Also im a qualified wireless specialist so just trying to add something useful tofor the, discussion. I think that the strangest thing is thata the left joycon is the low tech one. There's not logic to Nintendo having each jpycon work in a different mode as the right one would always drain the battery faster. One possibility is that the contention of the connections between each of the controllers and the console is actively managed. When the medium gets busy, the airtime for the left joycon could get left a bit short and not have enough bandwidth to transmit the data. I think that this would be fairly unlikely though unless additional interference wad an issue.

It's because this has become standard with all devices. Never got the argument that it's avaliable everywhere else so it doesn't matter.
Space Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Hopefully just a matter of time until Netflix and Amazon get Switch apps. I think something like Apple TV might be best for Netflix & Amazon usage on TV though, then it means you can play Switch anytime even if someone is watching TV. I love how instant resuming a game is with the console from sleep...
tapedeck Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) Pros: The overall premium quality of the system is brilliant. Nintendo finally got decent brightness and volume from a portable. That screen is superb. So crisp and vibrant. Zelda is GLORIOUS. I'm off the plateau and excited to explore this huge, alive world. Joycons are cute and the joycon grip feels cool to me Leaving the game room and continuing Zelda in bed! Couple of issues: Dock sliding feels cheap. Worried about scratches. Battery is a bit meh. Might be due to me hammering Zelda in portable mode though! Taking this to bed may result in the missus leaving me. Clicky buttons don't help light sleepers apparently! Can't get switch games from my local stores for love nor money. They had walls of cases yet told me they were all pre-ordered. I said what's the point of putting them out and apparently Grainger Games and GAME have to wait 48hrs before selling un-collected pre-order stock. They both assured me a couple of weeks ago they'd have enough stock for walk in collection, so I'm a bit miffed I couldn't pick up 1-2, Switch or Bomberman. Mulling over a pro controller but the nature of portable gaming means I'm usually just playing it this way. That £70 can wait. Bring on the Splatoon test fire! Edited March 4, 2017 by tapedeck
khilafah Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 I do think people are gonna scratch up there machines when docking if not extremely careful. It is a design flaw by Nintendo.

Yeah. The screen is nice, good size, it would be perfect to have media apps on this thing. Let's hope they do come, it could genuinely replace tablets for some people I think. @tapedeck base have pro controllers for £58 Another weird/annoying quirk. You can't use the pro controller on snipperclips. But it also doesn't tell you, it just turns it off. Then I unclipped a joycon. Then when I finished I couldn't quit the game as I didn't use the right sided one with the home button. Not a biggie. Just a little annoying for the modern lazy human.
BowserBasher Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Picked up my Switch and Zelda yesterday but have only had time to,set up the system. Working today too so I have to wait again. Initial impression are strong with me. The interface seems very clean and I can imagine will be good. Screen is amazing and I can't wait to get playing.

I don't really have any expertise to offer on the subject except remind people you can't patch hardware, only software. Do you think that the internal placement of the chip inside the left joy con plays a decent role in this though? Or is your money on the right joy con, being the most tech heavy (having both the IR camera and NFC reader), having a more prioritized data stream?
Hero-of-Time Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Does the Switch support a wired connection? Yeah, you just need to buy an adaptor and plug it into the USB of the dock.
markderoos Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Does the Switch support a wired connection? Not out of the box unfortunately. You'll have to buy a LAN adapter if you want to, they released an official one. EDIT: you know that smartass in school who would always grab the teacher's attention before you could tell the answer to a question? @Hero\-of\-Time

Ive been looking into the detail and the BT chip in each is exactly the same. Where the chip is isnt really important, it's more down to the antenna. They are a printed part of the PCB in the joycons but I only have high rez images of the right one atm (and I cant find it in there!) Going to to do some more investigation and should have a proper write up on the wireless soon. Does the Switch support a wired connection? This was quite a good read: https://arstechnica.co.uk/gaming/2017/02/nintendo-switch-ethernet-lan-party/ EDIT: And these guys have some suggested 3rd party adapters, they say that the wii u adapter will work too: https://www.primagames.com/games/nintendo-switch/feature/how-connect-nintendo-switch-lan-internet Edited March 4, 2017 by Jamba Automerged Doublepost
Falcon_BlizZACK Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Went to bed 4am, woke now... Feels goood to be a Switch owner. :awesome:
Ike Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Picked up the case/screen protector set. Any one actually apply their screen protector, I don't normally and I usually mess it up when I do. I was womndering how hard/easy it is to apply?
Falcon_BlizZACK Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Anyone else getting annoying wifi reconnection issues after powering the Switch up?

I was womndering how hard/easy it is to apply? Did it first thing. I always wear gloves (clean room surgical gloves!) when I apply protectors. But it was easy to apply and I'm bubble free!
killthenet Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Mine arrived about half an hour ago so haven't played anything on it yet. Initial impressions are that it's a great piece of hardware though, the Pro controller especially feels really weighty and comfortable to hold. I've held the grip for a bit and it feels quite nice, though I do worry about the Joy Con shoulder buttons. The cartridges definitely taste rank. Won't be eating one anytime soon.
