That film hurt my eyes and my brain.

And that is quite alright! I was thinking of texting you, but I knew you were a bit of an early bird like myself.

I have those moments when I forget that I've got a Uni email and don't check it, like this morning.

If you read this are you going in for the shit 2 hour lesson which we won't do anything in?

Dante, strictly speaking your signature is also in violations of the rules :indeed:

Whoever wanted the fetish costume (unless im too late); a watersporter. They could just as easily wear a normal outfit (granted they're likely to get naked but I presume nudity isn't actually an option) and as long as you go to the loo at some point you're sorted ;)

Today = uni work, sorting out things i've been putting off for a while and going to see Benjamin Button Moon.

Dubstep is awesome. Don't trust anyone who says anything otherwise.

I made £3 last night by selling my own rollies in the smoking area of the club at 50p a pop. Also spilt about 50% of each drink I bought all over myself and pretty much everyone around me. Yes, I am THAT guy. I declined going to the afterparty (3am-6am 'warehouse' rave) but nightwolf and co went along and I think they all pretty much just got home now :P

Make it Donnie Darko. Everyone I know has seen it, and only one of them hasn't loved it.

You thinking of me sweetie? :yay:

Not necessarily. Take, for instance, the word "fuck," which you (along with many others) describe as being offensive however it's being used. Let's say one guy says to another (for whatever reason), "You fucking legend!" Unless this sentence is being used very sarcastically, it's not likely to be intensionally offensive, and if the other guy understands it to be a compliment and nobody else is present, then nobody has been offended. Indeed, far from being offensive, the addition of the word "fuck" into the sentence has increased the force of the sentiment expressed and also created a sense of camaraderie between the guys - the fact they're able to freely swear suggests they aren't watching what they say, and are friendly.

Of course, the word can also be used offensively - if, say, one guy says (in an insulting tone) to another guy, "You fucking idiot!" It's hard to see what's going on here - while the first guy clearly wants to insult the second, this doesn't explain why adding "fuck" makes the insult more potent. The best suggestion I've come across is that as a taboo word, "fuck" carries negative associations and is linked to unpleasant feelings, and using it in this manner is like using a weapon - the recipient of the insult is forced to feel these unpleasant feelings and associate them with themselves.

However, people don't just get offended by "fuck" when it's used towards them as an insult. Indeed, many find it offensive when used at all, presumably because it forces the link to unpleasant connotations. However, such an objection to the way others use language seems a bit spurious to me, especially when the swearer in question isn't even speaking to the offended person in question. It's a bit like when people are offended by others wearing nose rings or somesuch - even though they might not like it, the wearer of the ring should be free to do so, and arguing otherwise is absurb. So when people use swearwords in non-offensive contexts, they shouldn't be offensive at all.

(in fact there are some things that invoke such unpleasant feelings in such large majorities of people that it seems reasonable to ban them - this is why we need laws about indecency and so on)

What instances would be unacceptable?

Haha my school sucks. They sent an email at 10:45 this morning to inform everyone that a certain teacher won't be in today and tomorrow. The teacher for my drawing class, which I would've had today had I gone in. The class that starts at 8:30.

So good thing I didn't go to school, otherwise it would've been a lot of wasted time!

The new cd (Fleet Foxes) I ordered arrived this morning and I'm listening to it now. Liking it so far. =)

I think 2008-2009 has been the year I bought/got given most music in, ever (compared to the rest of my life, haha).

I think I should start looking through that list as well, as there's lots of films on there I haven't seen yet (though quite a few I have). How did you manage to compile this list?

I told my friend on MSN that I've missed out on loads of classic films and she named a few, to which I said no to all of them, and she was shocked and decided to reel of a huuuge list of films. Any I said "No" to were put on the list :heh:

Dyson, how the hell have you never seen Star Wars!?!?! Or even half of those films you listed!?!?! Most are awesome!

I've seen one of them but I don't know which one it is and don't remember what happened :heh:

Yeah I'm still kinda dumfounded to be honest.

How does someone avoid watching Jurassic Park for 15 years?

I've never been much of a film person. The idea of sitting down and watching something for a couple of hours never appealed to me; I'd much rather be playing a game or something, but I realise I really should watch some of the more heralded films, especially whilst I don't do anything with my days right now :heh:

I see. In that case I feel your time to be spent on a new media would be better suited to comic books. *Flees into the wind*

Certainly not.

Of language? When you intend to offend someone in no uncertain way I suppose. But that's still legal, as it should be - pretty much all illegal instances are more than just linguistic, and may not be linguistic at all.

It was me... That's a bit of an awkward one to explain... Someone today suggested a Pizza delivery guy - that porno classic! I've also thought of maybe some kind of uniform.

Whoa whoa whoa....why the so definitely nottage as if I'm saying you should rape children....nothing wrong with comics! :(

Was flicking through channels and Ugly Betty was on. I never realized what a cracking rack Salma Hayek has.

A good realisation my friend. Shes fucking tasty. So so...so god damned tasty.

I like comics, for sure. I could never get in to them though, worry about missing an issue yadda yadda yadda. That, and for what they are, they tend to be expensive. Just not my kind of thing, I'd rather stick to a book. : peace:

That's the reason i've never gotten into them. I'm very anal when it comes to collections and if I'd ever miss an issue i'd have turned a similar shade to that Hulk fellow.

Trade Paper Backs people!

You're right though comics are expensive really, but the trades are cheap. Typical comic is £2.25 ish, and trades usually collect between 6-8ish issues for under £10. Cheapppp.

I recommend The Walking Dead for something if someone wants to experiment, as its very character driven and not super heroes or whatever.

Volume One is here £5.99 literally the cheapest best thing ever.
