  1. good stuff thread.

I'm good thanks! Still trundling along through academia up in (surprisingly sunny) Lancaster! How's things on the Good Ship N-Europe?
  2. good stuff thread.

I just logged on here for the first time in maybe 2-3 years, and its been so long I got a little bit emotional. :')
  3. Football Season 2013/2014

So I decided to watch the Spurs game. Now I've seen the result (and timings!) of Cardiff v Man City, didn't I pick badly?!
  4. Honeymoon Destinations... Help me out!

Vietnam, Cuba and Mexico all come highly recommended by anyone who's been there. Seeing as Rio is out, elsewhere in South America could be good. Peru, perhaps? Lima, Machu Pichu, Cuzco, El Misti, etc, etc. Closer to home and as an alternative to Egypt, Morocco or maybe Istanbul?
  5. A rather crucial 1-0 win against Cubic Country today - it's so tight below the promotion slots I leaped 3 places, and am only a point behind 5th!
  6. Happy birthday! I sincerely wish that the alcohol flow freely, and that a meteorite precisely strike your arch-nemisis in the gonads.
  7. Things you don't understand.

Conservatives [/politics] "Celeb" culture/overly picky fashion: If famous person X has had a baby, then good for them, but I don't see why four of my housemates natter about it constantly. Or how famous person Y is wearing the "wrong" clothes. I understand fashion and all as to how clothes look, but when a totally plain shirt is bad because it's not made by a particularly poncy brand? Why does it ever matter? Some things, like suits, I totally understand, as they are different - subtly so, but definitely different. Or, likewise, I can at least see the logic behind wanting to wear clothing with a particularly fancy company's logo as a display of your wealth or taste, but when it's just a plain t-shirt or polo shirt? What is wrong with people?
  8. Another important win for me after my shoddy start to the season, but at a cost of more injuries and yellow cards than I'd have liked...
  9. Languages

Sounds like a plan - I'm super-busy this weekend, but then it's going down! Or, rather, es geht nach unten, if you prefer... I've been learning very little, sooooo... How the heck do you add people?
  10. Boom! 5-0! Looks like when I finally win, I win with style! :awesome:
  11. Languages

Well, I've been meaning to improve my moderate German and poor French for a while, so I guess there's no time like the present! Duolingo looks good, I also recommend Memrise. They're pretty similar. Anyone else learning French or German want to compete? I can't do too much until next Friday as I have a politics exam next week I need to study for, but I've got a summer free!
  12. A 0-0 draw, but a crucial first point today, I'll take that as good thing.
  13. good stuff thread.

    Say what?
  14. Another loss, but by only a single goal, so it's progress, I guess?
  15. bad stuff thread.

Now that would be almost classhole levels of dickishness. Especially if I found a nasty, twatish Tory boy with personal hygiene issues.
  16. bad stuff thread.

I'm starting to swing towards this. I like the house, the location and my room, and Matt and Lottie are both normally really nice (even Izzy too, to be honest), but I struggle to think it's worth the stress.
  17. bad stuff thread.

The thought had crossed my mind. Right now I have Matt back on side, and Lottie isn't stupid - her priority was for a quick resolution, not necessarily a fair one, but I think she realises that was short sighted. That said, after my exam on Wednesday I'll have a snoop around. The funny thing is that she's unimaginably tiny - below 5 ft. She also claimed a few days ago that she needed a large open space to get dressed in, which is a contender the title.
  18. bad stuff thread.

We did, and she said it was all fine. I said we really shouldn't sign on the house until she'd seen it, and yet she reassured us it was fine. I was genuinely shocked that she hadn't gone even on the day she signed (against my explicit, repeated advice), but she maintained it was fine. A price system was put in place early on, and I, as you suggest, wanted the 2nd best room, if only to specifically avoid potential trouble. I agree 100% - we'd decided rooms for that house, and she'd made it clear she would see the room before she signed. We'd said if she wasn't happy, we'd find another house as it was practical to do so in December, unlike now. We'd decided by agreement, and she'd said room size wasn't an issue, she'd be happy with anything as long as the house was nice. I was the only one who took photos and the only one to tell her she had to see it before signing (on numerous occasions), and yet I and I alone somehow became the horrible uncaring bully who'd conned her (her words) into having the small room. I was also the on they attempted to shaft via a lot draw I repeatedly said would be counter-productive if anything and refused to take part in, and when I protested, I became the baby who threw their toys out the pram when I didn't get what I wanted. The last point is especially annoying and more than a tad hypocritical, I must say.
  19. bad stuff thread.

Your first plan is a little misguided - beyond the obvious objections, he has the stature and body of a 10 year old boy which isn't really my cup of tea. And she's going out with someone. Who's a transexual. And she's got the same name as my sister, so, a big no. My current plan is that she (albeit angrily) agreed to let me have the room in line with the original agreement, so, by god, am I going to latch onto it. I know I'll be moving in first (straight away, in fact) as I've landed a job that includes hours over summer, and quite frankly she can use the holiday to calm herself down. My biggest fear is that come her arriving at the house, she'll turn on the waterworks again and make another push for it by trying to guilt the other two into backing her again. Or, worse, her parents will, when dropping her and her stuff off, defend their princess and mistake me for a naive little 19 year old only a year out of school... It's a bit blunt, though - I'd hoped to avoid any major drama (hence why I specified to my housemates that a negotiated solution was needed). My housemate Jack attempted this while very, very drunk after having been kicked out of a club for said drunkenness (on, oddly, Izzy's birthday). Unfortunately he made a miscalculation with the floor - whilst aiming for either my room or George (directly above me), he managed to poo on the floor of the room below mine instead. Which was his own.
  20. good stuff thread.

So, despite housing problems, I got a job with the campus IT service desk. Money, woo! :awesome:
  21. bad stuff thread.

    Warning, long post!
  22. OK, what am I doing wrong? I've been slaughtered twice now...
  23. bad stuff thread.

Well, if three of my housemates for next year are going to be arseholes and refuse to talk about stuff screw me over, I guess I've been left no choice but to be three times as great an arsehole. That's how it works, right?
  24. Holy crap, I got decimated. Still, at least this season can't get worse...
  25. Machete attack in London

No, but hey, it's still not exactly U-rated... I didn't realise from the earlier reports quite how close he got to the police car.
