He’s playing through every mainline game in the series, in order, from start to finish, God help his soul… He has literally become the meme 1

If the N64 catalogue on Switch only included ports of the Wii U versions, would we not consider those games coming to the service to be a new addition? Because they would be cloud streamed (from existing PS Now PS3s); not actual native releases. Nobody cares about cloud streamed versions, they would have to be natively running on the hardware for them to actually have any importance/impact here. Nobody gives a crap about PS Now because it is primarily a cloud streaming service (yes I am aware that it also has a semi-decent selection of native PS4 downloads too). There’s no indication that this is going to be changing here though. Edited December 4, 2021 by Dcubed

Nobody gives a crap about PS Now because it is primarily a cloud streaming service (yes I am aware that it also has a semi-decent selection of native PS4 downloads too). There’s no indication that this is going to be changing here though. See, this is where I'm confused. It's like we're having two different discussions here. I'm not asking who cares about these potential legacy libraries possibly being cloud streamed versions, nor am I asking if PS Now is a cloud streaming service, nor am I implying at all that anything in the Bloomberg article indicates that these versions will run natively (I mean, let's be fair, it also doesn't say they won't be - though I agree that they would most likely be cloud versions, at the very least for the PS3 titles). You clearly don't care about these changes, which is perfectly fine. But you asked "what's the deal with this?", to which I gave the answer that the article states games and libraries not currently available to play on current platforms - even through PS Now - are planned to come to this service. You mentioned PS2 games already being on PS Now, to which I said there are ~20 PS2 titles (it's actually 17) currently available through the service (again, all of which are PS2 Classics), so naturally if they expand the number of PS2 titles available on the service, the addition of these titles is something new. The addition of PS1 titles and PSP not currently available on PS Now is something new. The potential addition of more PS3 titles to the service is something new. The fact that they are rebranding and seemingly merging PS Now with PS Plus is something new. That the report says they plan for three different tiers would be something new. Now if we want to talk about the quality of how we're going to be playing these titles, and whether they are going to be native versions or streaming from a PS3, that's a whole other discussion, and whether this is a good idea at all is a whole other discussion. But that's not at all the question I was answering. Just because it's not a huge deal to you because it's not running natively and is a product from PlayStation is an opinion of yours I'll respect, and hey, naturally I would love for these to be native versions, but we just don't know. For all we know, Schreier is a hundred miles off and there's something totally different that they plan to implement instead, or not at all. But when one of the platform holders is clearly positioning themselves - if a move like this really is happening - to be more nimble and ready for the future, for if they do truly want to offer something akin to Game Pass (which, in my opinion, is clearly the entire point in the reported rebrand and restructuring; it's foundational work), I'd say that's a pretty big deal. I'd say the same if it were Nintendo, and I said the same when it was Xbox. 1

Julius Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 (edited) Covers and new controller colours inbound!!! From the PS Blog: Quote Today we are pleased to reveal the newest colors to join the PS5 family of color accessory offerings: Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, and Galactic Purple. Adding to the previously released Cosmic Red and Midnight Black DualSense wireless controller colors, the latest galaxy-inspired colors will launch globally starting in January 2022 at participating retailers. These new console covers are beautiful and easy to use — simply remove your original white PS5 console covers and click your new ones into place. The PS5 console covers will be available for both the PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and the PS5 Digital Edition and are sold separately from the PS5 console and DualSense controller. The Midnight Black and Cosmic Red PS5 console covers will become available starting in January 2022 at participating retailers in the following locations: USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea, and the Philippines. The Nova Pink, Galactic Purple, and Starlight Blue PS5 console covers will also launch in these locations during the first half of 2022. We plan to launch the PS5 console covers in additional territories during the year, and we’ll announce those details as they become available. The exact launch dates for both the new DualSense wireless controller colors and the new PS5 console covers in select regions may vary by location, so be sure to check your local retailer for availability. TL;DR - black and red covers coming 21st January 2022 first through PlayStation Direct (next month!) before general release in February, and the same locations will get the purple, blue, and pink covers in the first half of 2022. New controller colours (purple, blue, pink) coming January 2022 also. The plates will cost £44.99. I'm too excited for my own good with this, goodbye wallet, it was nice knowing thee. The mix and match possibilities makes me want to pick a few up and grab more controllers I don't need. Definitely recreating the MGS V PS4 colourway (I know it's a slightly brighter red, but close enough!)... Also means they won't need to focus on selling limited edition consoles and controllers bundled, and can instead sell the plates and controllers separately. Which makes sense considering the ongoing issues with production capacity, but it's going to make me broke Edited December 14, 2021 by Julius
Aneres11 Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Jeez. The coloured ones make it look even worse than the white!
Ronnie Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Ooof, apart from the Gamecube purple, those are some hideous colours.

Beast Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Guys, I'm joining the club! haha. I'm a bit confused though. How do I know what PS4 games I can upgrade to PS5 and what just look better (if that makes sense)? Like I know God of War is supposed to be so much better on the PS4 but it's still a PS4 game, right? However, I've just got the PS5 versions of FFVII:R, RE: Village and Plague. Is there a list of games you can upgrade? I've visited a few sites and they also include PS4 games that look better but I just want a solid list of games I can upgrade to the PS5 version from the PS4 games I have already bought... Also, any recommendations for games on the PS5? So far, I just have Ratchet and Clank: Rifts Apart and it is amazing!
Will Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Welcome to the club! I buy all of my games through PSN and there is usually a stand-alone version for the PS5 when a conversion has been done “properly” - I say “properly” as I’m sure many of these are just a PS4 Pro version labeled differently. All of the games have had to be compatible with PS4 Pro for a long time now so you’ll at least get that version with anything you have that is specifically PS4 only. PS5 specific stuff I think Miles Morales and Astro’s Playroom are essential. Once F1 2021 came out in the summer I haven't actually played much else so I need to do some catching up myself. 1

I just bought the Ultimate Edition of Miles Morales so I got Spider-Man Remastered with it and I see a massive difference. I've played that game to death and loved it and it's great looking at the visuals. I don't know what settings to have it on. Right now, I have it on "Performance RT" (I think it's called that). Is that the best one?

Dependent on your setup and how sensitive you are to frame rates you may find one of the other options better. Best thing to do is give them all a try and see which works best for you. 1

Basically I want it as smooth as silk and looking amazing, haha. I think I might be on the correct setting. I noticed it said that it was 1080p and not 4K but honestly, it still looked better than it did on the PS4. The colours are a lot more vibrant and clear and the fluid movement was just amazing to play
Julius Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 (edited) You can now find your PlayStation playing stats from last year in the 2021 PlayStation Wrap-Up report here. Do find it very funny that Death Stranding is front and centre, considering all I've done with it so far is upgrade to the Director's Cut Compared to 2020's stats from last February, some interesting takeaways are: Total playtime in 2021 (895 hours) was only 7 hours less than in 2020 (902 hours), and all this despite the fact that I took a break from gaming which lasted a few months. FIFA more than made up for it I guess, as did my weekly play sessions with some friends on GTA! I played 20 fewer games on modern PlayStation hardware in 2021 when compared with 2020 (16 vs 36). Hours played online increased substantially from 125 hours (14% of total 2020 playtime) to 219 hours (24% of total 2021 playtime), though I suppose I didn't start playing with my friends on a weekly basis until a few months into 2020, so that increase isn't too surprising. I said in last year's post after playing across 156 days in 2020 that I would aim to surpass 200 days played in 2021...and apparently I did. Not sure how that happened. Despite playing substantially fewer games, I got 499 trophies in 2021 compared with 542 in 2020. This is down to going for a few more Platinums (4 in 2021 vs 1 in 2020), but a lot of these and a Platinum popped from the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut upgrade before I played the Iki Island DLC. Haven't started a game in 2022 yet...and seeing these numbers might be the push I needed. Edited January 20, 2022 by Julius
bob Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 (edited) Firstly, I tried to login to my Playstation account using Chrome, and it made me do some bullshit mouse and cheese puzzle to prove i was human. Only it broke, and it kept making me do them. First it asked for me to do 5 puzzles, but once i'd done 5, it jumped to do 20 of them?! Anyway, bathe in my glory: Interesting that they don't even update the word 'games' to be singular. Lame. Edited January 20, 2022 by bob 2
