Figured it was time to get the ball rolling!

In addition to PlayStation not appearing at this year's E3, EA have just announced that they will not be holding a press conference come this June.

Quote

2019 will mark our fourth year of EA PLAY. What we envisioned as a celebration of play has become an incredible moment that we love to share with the community each year. We are so grateful for all our fans who have joined us, and we look forward to making this year an even better experience.

This year you’ll see less talk and more play, with an event entirely focused on the heartbeat of EA PLAY: our player communities and the games they love.

• First hands-on with some of our biggest games.
• Exclusive content from some of the most popular creators in the world.
• Free for all to attend.

It all starts this year on Friday night, June 7, 2019, with an all-new EA PLAY kickoff event. We're skipping the press conference this year and are replacing it with multiple live streams that will air during the first two days of the event, bringing you more of what you've told us you want - more gameplay and insights from the teams making the games.

Weekends are meant for play, and this year we’ve moved the EA PLAY fanfest to Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9 where players will get hands-on with our games. We’ll also have content creators streaming live from our Creator’s Cave in the Hollywood Palladium providing gameplay content to our players viewing online. EA.com will be the home for all online EA PLAY content. Players can get behind-the-scenes with our games via exclusive gameplay reveals, developer talks and breaking news.

But that’s enough talk for now, we’ve got plenty more to show in the months ahead.

Tickets will be available next month, so stay tuned over the coming weeks and months to learn more about EA PLAY 2019, including the games, ticket availability, program schedule and more.

Devolver Digital have just confirmed that they'll be in attendance once again:

*BUMP*

I've updated the original post with the dates and times of E3 2019 press conferences that we're currently aware of, and plan to update that post again in the near future when the dates and times for Nintendo's and Devolver Digital's events are shared with us.

We're all expecting PlayStation to host an event/have a worthwhile State of Play release two weeks either side of E3, but as it won't be part of E3 proper, I don't intend to add them to this conversation.

We're around five weeks away from E3 now, and is it just me, or is anyone else not particularly excited right now? Maybe it's PlayStation not being there, but I'm usually amped for E3 by now...I'm getting weird vibes from it all at the moment.

Maybe I'm just nervous. Square Enix have taken PlayStation's spot (for once, I don't think I'll want to stay up that late!), and that almost comes with the expectation that we'll get news on Final Fantasy VII Remake or The Avengers Project -- for once, I'm not getting my hopes up. But is a Square Enix Legends collection of games releasing to get their great catalogue of older games on current platforms, akin to what SEGA AGES has been doing, too much to ask for? Yeah, it probably is.

I don't really know what to expect from Microsoft: a console reveal? Seeing some of the fruits of their studio purchases begin to bear? Either way, I guess we can count on hearing "World Premiere" and "Exclusive" so much that we become numb and the bright green of Xbox begins coursing through our veins.

Ubisoft will probably have a great conference as always, during which I'll go "huh, that looks cool, I might buy and play that" four or five times before never actually picking up the game. Bethesda will undoubtedly show absolutely nothing worthwhile when it comes to updating us on games that we already know are years away, but alas, that's the way it goes with them.

The only event that I'm actually really excited about is Nintendo's, because they always have something up their sleeves to keep us questioning everything we thought we knew from leaks and rumours going in, and the pacing of their events only continues to improve. Also helps that it'll probably be held at like 17:00 for those of us in the UK, which is always nice seeing as we probably won't fall asleep at that time!

@Julius I'm not that excited either. Last year was the start of this dip in enthusiasm for E3 and its carried on to this year, more so now that Sony have left the building.

I used to love E3 and I always took the week off work to sit and watch the conferences and read all the news. Sadly, the industry has changed and E3 is no longer a huge blowout of information that it once was, with publishers instead spreading out their information throughout the year. While it obviously makes sense as to why they do this, I can't help but crave the return of the old E3.

I'll still be watching what is on offer but there's nothing really that I'm excited for. Most of Nintendo's lineup for the year is already planned. Sony have already shown their next big hitters. Actually, thinking about it, I am looking forward to Microsoft's conference purely because I'm a huge Gears of War fan and Gears 5 should have a big showing. I wouldn't be surprised if the Gears POP! game also gets announced for Switch.

I must admit I have changed as a gamer, so I can't blame it on E3, but personally the only thing that would really interest me is a quantum leap in VR.  Maybe if one of the consoles was paired-up with an 8K, high-field-of-view headset... but that probably won't happen until PS5 or the next Xbox is shown (and it'll probably be 4K).

Still, I'm looking forward to Animal Crossing.

I'm not too excited either.  Sony literally have nothing to show, while MS will likely be winding down support for the Xbone as well (only things I'm really interested in seeing are Battletoads and just what kind of support they'll be throwing Nintendo's way).

As for Nintendo? I'm convinced that they've already blown their load during the last Direct and that they'll have nothing else really new to show at E3.  I was expecting Link's Awakening to be their big E3 announcement (I already knew about it before it was announced), and there's nothing really to indicate that they've got anything hidden up their sleeve for E3 now.  About the only thing that they could really have to announce is a new game from Retro (which is so ridiculously overdue that I actually think it ended up being quietly cancelled at this point); and Pikmin 3 Deluxe (which was supposed to be coming out in May originally from what I heard; so perhaps that's been pushed back to make for an E3 announcement?).  I suppose Metroid Prime Trilogy HD is possible as well (it was supposed to release in February 2019 originally), but with Metroid Prime 4 being delayed until probably 2023? They might keep it in the Nintendo Vault for another couple of years... or perhaps they'll use it to fill in the E3 2019 gap? Who knows...

The thing I'm most excited for is seeing Microsoft buddy up with Nintendo.  Rare's titles coming back to Nintendo is a realistic possibility now and that is legit exciting! It's crazy to think that I'm excited to watch a Microsoft E3 conference to see what they announce for Switch, but here we are! :D

It's still too far away to get excited yet.

Nintendo Directs kinda killed the hype Nintendo side seeing as we get constant updates now unlike the old days where Nintendo used to be a lot more silent. Still, I think the focus will be Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem and Mario Maker 2 for the Treehouse segments. Maybe Dragon Quest XI S. Probably get a reveal for the new Smash DLC character.

Metroid Prime 4 we won't be seeing, Bayonetta 3 we might see? That game seems to be in a weird state at the moment. Hopefully see more of Luigi's Mansion 3. As Hero-of-Time mentioned, we kinda know Nintendo's lineup for the year already, but hoping for one or two "One more thing" announcements.

Excited to see Animal Crossing, dreading the level of commitment required to play it once it's released. :heh:

Gonna be weird to have an E3 without Reggie.

Sony's and Microsoft's conferences always bore me since they rarely ever focus on games I am actually interested in so don't tend to get excited for those.

Well I'm excited.

The last few Sony shows did nothing for me, so their absense isn't a big deal. There's only so much Death Stranding or Last of Us 2 trailers I can watch without getting bored.

Not expecting many big "surprises" from Nintendo, maybe one reveal but it'll be nice to see Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing. Plus more info on Link's Awakening. They started the trend of moving away from E3 and I think we'll see that continue here, at least in terms of surprise reveals.

Ubisoft will have a great conference as usual, loads of variety as usual, something for everyone. I'll be surprised if we don't see Mario + Rabbids 2, so if that's a thing, then I'm excited to see it.

Bethesda games don't do it for me, but their conferences are usually really enjoyable to watch. Hoping for some Starfield stuff but doubt we'll see anything.

Microsoft have had some fantastic shows in recent years, so it'll be interesting if they go big on their new console or play the waiting game a little while longer. If nothing else, more Cyberpunk info is really exciting, very much looking forward to that.

Yeah, that's true as well.  Reggie has always been a great E3 host; losing him is going to be a real bummer.

I don't think Doug Bowser has much stage presence really; he's always come across as a bit of a wet blanket at E3 events.  So I'm hoping that Bill Trinen ends up leading this year's E3 showcase myself; he's always been fantastic!

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nintendo has outlined its plans for the E3 2019 video game trade show, which takes place June 11-13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The weekend before the show includes two competitions featuring top players of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 games from around the world. Returning activities during the week include a Nintendo Direct presentation on the morning of June 11 and Nintendo Treehouse: Live—a daily livestream from E3 featuring live gameplay and in-depth analysis of games featured at E3. Nintendo will feature many playable Nintendo Switchgames at its booth, and a new Warp Pipe Pass will help transport people to a priority access part of lines for select games.

“We’re starting with some heated competitions and delivering new content the whole week,” said Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser. “Whether people are attending the show in person or watching from home, our goal is to provide them with the best possible Nintendo experience.”

Some of Nintendo’s activities at E3 2019 include:

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 Tournaments: The team-based Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship 2019 3v3 and the Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019 tournaments will take place on Saturday, June 8, at The Theatre at Ace Hotel at 929 S. Broadway St. in Los Angeles. Both events will feature players from North America, Europe, Japan and Australia/New Zealand. The line for entry starts forming at 8 a.m. in front of The Theatre at Ace Hotel. Fans who want to catch the competitions in person can gain free entry after receiving an event badge in line on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 10 a.m. and competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. People who prefer to watch the competitions online can visit https://e3.nintendo.com/ and Nintendo’s channels on Twitch and YouTube. Nintendo will communicate additional details about these tournaments at a later time.
    • After battling their way through more than 11,000 players in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North America Open 2019, the winning team of Wrath, Devonte and Poltergust will represent North America against teams from Europe, Australia/New Zealand and Japan.
    • The team of FTWIN showcased its elite splat skills in the Splatoon 2 North America Inkling Open 2019 by toppling some of the most experienced Splatoon 2 squads across all of North America. The team will be looking to continue its winning streak against some of the top teams from Europe, Australia/New Zealand and Japan.
  • Nintendo Direct E3 2019: The presentation will begin at 9 a.m. PT on June 11. Viewers can watch it by visiting https://e3.nintendo.com/. The presentation, which focuses entirely on software, will offer a look at games scheduled to launch in 2019.

People can view the livestream at https://e3.nintendo.com/. Additional details about Nintendo Treehouse: Live will be announced at a later date.
  • Warp Pipe Pass: As always, Nintendo will have a variety of games to play in its booth. People who are attending the E3 2019 show can reduce the amount of time they wait in line for select Nintendo games by reserving a free Warp Pipe Pass, which will allow them to gain priority access in line during their designated time to line up and play. A Nintendo Account is required to sign up and reserve a Warp Pipe Pass. Nintendo will communicate additional details about how and when to reserve a pass at a later date.

June 11th it is! Let's hope that Nintendo still have some cards left up their sleeve!

Yeah, I'm not expecting anything massive.

My biggest hope and dream is some news of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon's first Switch outing. Remake or new title, I don't care. Just gimme! Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire got remade recently and the first PMD title is a Generation 3 one. So now's a good time. I mean if Game Freak aren't gonna bother remaking DS Pokémon games, Chunsoft might as well.

But yeah, second Smash character reveal, more details on Fire Emblem, Mario Maker, Link's Awakening and Animal Crossing and probably one unannounced game. That's what I expect.

Sounds good to me. :) But man, I hope the next Smash character is actually good. :heh: Although to be fair, Joker did at least bring in some truly excellent music.

Anyway, I imagine we will also be seeing some more of Astral Chain, which I'm intrigued about. It's definitely all about Animal Crossing for me though, can't wait to see what they've cooked up for the Switch version. :bouncy: Just hope it's ambitious and features big improvements to the online functionality.

I predict... no Mole Mania whatsoever this year. Switch and Smash Bros are still going strong, no need to saturate the market with more top tier games just yet.

Also, they'll shadow drop the SNES online service during the event, since it's a thing nobody wants.

Just realised the UEFA Nations League Final clashes with Microsoft's press event. Torn between watching it alongside the football on my laptop or just waiting until its over and watching it after the fact. Its pretty annoying considering the Xbox showcase is the most likely to have huge surprise announcements - guess I'll just have to avoid N-Europe on June 9th until I can watch it.

I'm not sure the title "Doom" is the most optimistic game to get people interested in E3.

Kinda looks like it's giving a prediction on how screwed we all are.

It's not just Nintendo now, everyone is doomed!

The best part of E3 this year should be Sega taking Sony's conference slot to announce their new console. They'll have to come up with a new name right? No way they'll go with Dreamcast 2. Too much history behind that.

I always find Microsoft’s conferences weird. Before them they always announce these numbers for games being shown and while I’m sure they must tally up, it either doesn’t feel like they showed that many or they putting spin on those numbers by showing things in sizzle reels etc.

No matter how many developers they acquire I just have zero enthusiasm for Xbox these days. First the Xbox One itself soured me on their hardware/OS and then the games just felt more bland and samey.

I always find myself watching Microsoft's shows and thinking to myself "I'll get that on PS4...there's another PS4 game...that one, too".

I have no interest at all in buying another home console. But, at least their shows have got better.

Not excited at all about this year's E3. I'm hoping that when it does come around that I get swept by the inevitable wave. I plan to watch the usual shows: Microsoft, Ubisoft, EA, anything Nintendo put out. A bit annoyed that there isn't going to be a Sony event.

I think even if there was a Sony show it would have been a limited showing. While Sony are better than most at supporting their consoles during the transition to a new console we’d still not have had much to see yet. Between them working on the PS5 and more and more and more companies moving away from E3 as the best way to get their news out this seems like a good time to step back from the show.

I understand it as a sign of the times but just for the personal enjoyment I get from E3 it’s a shame. I love all the conferences, announcements, watching sites like Giant Bomb talk over stuff and their after hours interviews. If E3 continues to struggle over the next few years then in hope something manages to replace it.

Because this forum is so Nintendo and Sony centric, I often forget that Microsoft haven't dropped out of the console business completely. It's always a little surprise when they announce a new game or something, and I go "oh yeah, they're still going".

I'm a bit like this. I love Phil Spencer and I admire what he has been able to do with the brand over the past few years but something about the whole company just doesn't sit right with me anymore. I'm not a fan of their games being on the PC but I get why they are doing it. Rare don't seem have any interest in revisiting the classic IPs they have at their disposal. Finally, out of all of Microsoft's big IPs there's only Gears of War that I have any affinity for, especially as Halo Infinite is rumoured to be very open world and have RPG elements in it.

Given the sales split across the platforms, I think most people tend to do this. It's great they are able to put on a show with many 3rd party games but it's exclusives and exclusive deals that tend to push the console sales.

The way they are shoving their stuff on PC they may as well drop out of the console race. :D
