Aneres11 Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Downloaded Runner 3. Never played one before but am enjoying this although it's a pretty challenging game isn't it?! I just took 50 retries on world 2-2 which is worrying as that's fairly early on in the game still. At least it's rewarding and it rewards perseverance though, which is good.
RedShell Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Think I'm nearing the end of Fairune 2 now, but it has been a pretty frustrating experience at times. I mean there's being obscure and then there's taking the piss, and Fairune 2 definitely takes the piss. I just love the presentation of the game though... if it played more like Zelda (i.e. proper combat and far less cryptic design) I'd like it a lot more. Anyway, will reserve judgment of the collection as a whole until I play through Origin and also unlock the final game. I also downloaded Aqua Kitty UDX the other day, which is proving to be very enjoyable. Defender + Cats + C64-esque chiptunes = awesome! 1
RedShell Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Finished up Fairune 2 (which should be called Unfairune 2 ) and the rest of the collection. Spoiler Had more to do than I initially thought, including tracking down multiple swords that the game neglects to tell you are required for the final boss. Yep, it was still chucking completely random stuff like that at me until the very end. It's basically impossible to complete Fairune 2 without either being psychic or referring to a guide. I imagine I'd have ripped out all of my hair if I didn't read up on some of the stuff in this game, and even with the guide I think I'm slightly more bald than before I started playing. My final clear time: Damn right thank you for playing, you guys owe me some hair! Next up was Fairune Origin, and as expected it is short, like ridiculously short: The entire world consists of only 12 screens, and even there I managed to get a bit stuck. At least with it being so short there's a chance I'll return to improve my time, no bloody way am I doing that for the first two. Anyway, with all 3 Fairune games complete, Fairune Blast was finally unlocked! And it is a lot of fun. Unfortunately though, it's also very short. Just 1 level. It's cool how it features the 3 characters from Kamiko though, and replaying the game with each of them feels quite different due to the unique weaponry and special attacks (also taken right out of Kamiko). I've already got pretty hooked trying to find the optimal attack patterns and because each attempt only lasts for a couple of minutes, you definitely get that "just one more game" thing going on. Perfect for the Switch. Will definitely be playing this for a while longer, see if I can climb the world ranking a bit more: LOL @ the disparity between my RPG and SHMUP rankings. Also, I tip my hat to the Japanese player that is number 1 across all 4 titles! Crazy. 1
nekunando Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Have you been enjoying Ikaruga, @S.C.G? I noticed you were playing it when I was downloading both it and the FIFA update this afternoon! I had a couple of quick goes of it on easy mode before work but only made it to the final boss of stage 2. I resisted the urge to ramp up the lives and continues from the options menu but I'm fairly certain that I only ever beat the game back on the Gamecube when infinite continues were unlocked 1

I resisted the urge to ramp up the lives and continues from the options menu but I'm fairly certain that I only ever beat the game back on the Gamecube when infinite continues were unlocked I most certainly have been. The moment I fired the game up, I had one objective in mind. Complete the game in vertical table-top mode using the Pro controller, on Free Play but ensuring that I at the very least beat all of the bosses within the time limits on this first try. I achieved this, so I'm more than happy. I have beaten the game with limited lives before over the years, so I feel fine just running through the game like this, especially just to see how it performs, I can confirm that the framerate is steady and only dips during the end of the bosses when the bosses explode upon their defeat; just how it should be. Then I tried with three lives, no continues and I only made it to the second stage though this was just to try out the joy-cons, which have the best use of HD Rumble yet... they rumble and make a siren noise in time with the Warning! sign which comes just before the bosses appear. Best version of Ikaruga I have played and I haven't even tried it out on my vertical display yet, with the various other control methods which will range from the Wavebird to the Hori Real Arcade Pro.V Hayabusa arcade stick for what will hopefully be the ultimate Ikaruga gameplay experience. I see Amazon UK are getting it back in stock on June 16th, you can't buy it on the Nintendo UK store any more, I got a second one when they were selling it off for around £100... ...now that more games are coming out, I think the arcade stick is proving to be more popular. 1

Amazon had 8 in stock when I checked on Friday. Of course they'd drop the price when I shouldn't really be spending that much. Was thinking of getting one for Blazblue. Ikaruga and Punch Out would probably be good to play with it as well.
RedShell Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 (edited) The eShop has been updated slightly, just minor changes to the layout by the looks of things though. There’s also a new option in account settings, for automatic renewal. No doubt for when the online subscription kicks in. *EDIT* You can now click on the publisher name and be taken to a page with all of their content. I noticed on the page for Flyhigh Works that Fairune Collection is missing, as is Ninja Striker (which I can still only access via my watch list) and that continues to be unavailable for purchase. Fairune Collection actually received an update yesterday (no idea what for) but now it too seems to have been removed from the eShop. Both Fairune Collection and Ninja Stiker are currently available on the US and Japanese eShops though, so whatever is going on with these titles is clearly only in Europe. Weird. Dufniall Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 Sales is up! Might go for SF2 The Final Challengers. On the other hand Dragon Ball FighterZ looks great so might choose that one as my Switch fighter. Plus I still have some backlog to catch up on! 1
