Josh64 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 The official Nintendo site used to have these forums, they were pretty bad because they were so strict :p No avatars, you couldn't quote or PM people, you couldn't click on members profiles. But hey, it was my first forum so I just liked that I could randomly talk to people about Nintendo. Around 03 or 04 news got round that Nintendo were closing the official forums so for the last day it was just filled with posts such as "WE WIL MIS U NINTENDO FORUMZ" and "ALL GUD MEMBERS CLIK THIS THREAD" I think I clicked something like "It's not over for European Nintendo gamers!" and inside the thread was a link to Cube-Europe! I lurked for a while, fascinated by all the news stories from Japan and downloading all the awesome wallpapers I could get my hands on. Then joined up and annoyed people with my constant posting and over enthusiasm for Donkey Kong Calmed down a bit and made a quiet return in 2005 as a general lurker. The height of my Nintendo fandom was probably 06/07 but I started to lose interest in gaming a bit after that. One day (I think two years ago now) I randomly decided to pester Ashley over email because I wanted to have a go at doing a news piece on the front page... and after about a month or so he actually replied! :p Since then I've been a newsie (though on and off at times, I need to get a routine going :P) which has really brought back my passion for gaming. With N-Europe and Twitter, the world of Nintendo feels so exciting at times.
bob Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I googled "Nintendo Europe website and forum" when I wanted to find out info on "the dolphin" too. It led me to n64-europe which has since been my "home" on the Internet... more so than the porn sites! There are porn sites on the internet?! Brb.
Murr Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I used to browse this forum pretty regularly when it was Cube-Europe. I believe this is also when everyone's favorite forum member r0khead was here? I think like alot of members here; around the cube days was I guess the peak of my Nintendo fanboyism, and this place at the time was always busy with news / threads / Nintendo Hype, and I really enjoyed reading it all. But i'd never join while r0khead was here due to other confrontations myself and him had on a previous forum I moderated (Gamezville). There's cyber bullying, and then there was just him. Terrible human being. (I'm being polite) Anyways.. so yes. lurking, lurking, lurking.. Again with the Revolution boom and such. 2010 hit, The place still had an interest in Nintendo, but also other interesting topics and areas, so I joined. And now find myself rather addicted to this place.
Guy Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 (edited) There are porn sites on the internet?! Brb FOREVER. Good bye, dear Bob. Terrible human being. (I'm being polite) r0khead wasn't always terrible. I remember him being quite a character way back in the day - even played a few games of Halo with him every now and again. I'll never forget his crazy animated avatar and how he used to prank his (then) girlfriend/wife into thinking he'd killed himself by laying on the kitchen floor covered in ketchup when she came home. A true character. Then he went insane. Edited March 19, 2013 by Guy

Jimbob Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 (edited) I honestly can't remember how i discovered N-E. I know i joined around the mid to late Cube-Europe days, but can't for the life of me recall how i found it. I think i must of been getting bored of ZU, so i thought a new place was needed to be. Hence why i chose here. Been through it all, the Rokhed saga, the Dynastygirl (veggie rant) saga, Jordan's era. Been here for the most part of it. Edited March 19, 2013 by Jimbob

I remembered him for zany shenanigans, nothing on that level of mayhem. Saying that, was this before or after he went insane? I'm almost certain there was a period when he wasn't actually completely bat shit mental. Been through it all, the Rokhed saga, the veggie saga, Jordan's era. Been here for the most part of it. Guy Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 (edited) Hmm.. 2004 to 2006 around then. He's now a she though from what I've heard? Hm, I've lost all concept of time in recent years so I can't say for sure. I know we played Halo 2, so it would have been after 2004. Yeah, that's what I heard too. It was such a startling development - always saw him as some kind of die-hard lad. I wasn't actually around here when he was banned, but I understand he was gradually becoming unbearable and stretching the rules at every opportunity. I don't think a permanent ban on this forum has ever been more widely agreed with or celebrated. Edited March 19, 2013 by Guy
-Dem0- Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 My sister pointed me towards cube-europe as a solid source of Nintendo news. Been viewing this website almost everyday since.
jayseven Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 rokhed00* /wrists ... I first saw these forums the first time I ever drank alcohol. It's funny how the two have held hands ever since :P
MoogleViper Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 And thus I became a visitor for the longest time until I finally decided to join the forums back in 2007 (or was it 2006?) You guys know that it tells you exactly when you joined N-E/R-E on the left under your name? (Uber Murr in the below being yours truly) I think we could have worked that out. Yeah, that's what I heard too. It was such a startling development - always saw him as some kind of die-hard lad. He was on here during is turn. It wasn't pretty (both in terms of his change in attitude and change in appearance). There' probably a few pictures around here of him in a dress. I reckon Eevil always kept one for those cold nights.
Charlie Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Been through it all, the Rokhed saga, the Dynastygirl (veggie rant) saga, Jordan's era. Been here for the most part of it. I remember when Jordan had finally got up to 10000 posts and he was incredibly pleased about it, all ready to make a thread announcing it to the world. Then @Platty reset his post count back to 0. He took a hissy fit, and left. :p Hm, I've lost all concept of time in recent years so I can't say for sure. I know we played Halo 2, so it would have been after 2004. THE GLORY DAYS! I actually can't believe just how long ago it was we were playing Halo 2 together.
Ramar Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I remember when Jordan had finally got up to 10000 posts and he was incredibly pleased about it, all ready to make a thread announcing it to the world. Raining_again Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I joined in 2005, soag went on and on at me to join and one day I gave in :P In the days when rokhed used to be a man, ooh.
Jimbob Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 (edited) You held me in a headlock once and I knew then, this was the grip of a man who had seen it all. Ashley Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Mildly relevant (or maybe not and I just want to share). It's amazing how many times people (mostly on Twitter) assume we're an official Nintendo site. I wonder if anyone ended here thinking along those lines.
James Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I googles Nintendo Europe and thought it was the official Nintendo Europe page. It was n64 Europe at the time I think. Been here ever since hovering in the shadows.

I joined because I was looking for some GameCube wall-papers or something. I joined around the time that I picked up Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 for the Cube. Excellent times.
Tales Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 (edited) From the main site when it was called revolution-europe. Or was it cube-europe? Don't remember, and I don't remember how I got to the main site in the first place. I would take a guess on gonintendo.com though, I used that site before and it usually takes most of it news from other sites iirc. Edited March 19, 2013 by Tales
Josh64 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 @Ashley I used to always read CUBE magazine in my early teens and assumed this was the website version. It was because of the very similar names and... if I remember correctly, having very similar designs too. And I don't remember much about Rokhead, but I remember a thread where he was showing everyone his development into becoming a lady? Thankfully though (from the sounds of it) those were my lurker days so I managed to avoid that fiend. Instead I spent my time pestering the EuroFusion team (as Gonzales) whilst listening to @Guy speak about Smash Bros. Braille and Zelda reviews.

Fortunately my days of yelling at my mother on a podcast are long behind me. Those guys still do one though, albeit in a slightly different format. Colin is the host now, asking Chris and Leo various strange questions. Mike is also involved, but he just does the audio queues and the music. What Do Chris and Leo Think?
bryanee Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Joined in the early 2000's during the cube-Europe days. I don't remember how I found the site though. Maybe some one mentioned it on the CVG forums when they were good and blue or maybe the Games Domain chat, I'm not sure.
