I bought Furi, on the Switch and in physical form... I just haven't played it yet. :p

Looking forward to it though, also nice to see that The Game Bakers are still doing well.

Our very own @Kaepora_Gaebora interviewed them and of course reviewed Furi when it came out on the Switch...

...and I really can't believe that was over a whole year ago already. :blank:

I've got so many games to catch up with and anything from The Game Bakers is going to be at least on my radar, so let us hope it's another hit. :peace:

PlayStation Destination, an event held by PlayStation to give retailers and insiders an idea of the year ahead, took place in Arizona over the last few days, and it seems some leaks have slipped through the cracks -- despite the NDAs in place.

There's some pretty interesting stuff if the news coming out is accurate, but just in case people here don't want it spoiled and would rather learn about this when PlayStation plans to share this information with us, I'm going to throw the major points into the spoiler tag below.

Spoiler

• The Last of Us Part II has been given a release date of October 25th 2019.

• Ghost of Tsushima was not shown/present; the general consensus seems to be that it might be coming next year, in 2020.

-> To add to these, a user on ResetEra going by the name of Aokiji posted: "Sam Porter and Ellie made their way to a certain destination, sadly Jin couldn't make it". The implication seems to be that both Death Stranding and The Last of Us Part II will release this year, bit Ghost of Tsushima will be next year. Digging into his post history, they seem to have a very good track record: Sony not attending E3 2019, the release window for God of War, the release window for Spider-Man, etc.

• Games were shown by PlayStation and Square Enix [VII Remake?]. Other publishers of note that were present were Activision-Blizzard and Konami [if Death Stranding is coming this year, Metal Gear Solid remasters could make a lot of sense].

Trying to decide whether or not to buy the Zero Escape games while they are on sale on PSN at the moment. I've always been interested in them and the story but I'm not much of a puzzle guy so don't want to get stuck doing all of that and then just give up out of frustration or boredom.

I suppose a way around that could be to use a guide for the puzzles and then just enjoy the story.

The puzzles aren't very difficult and the games are superb, if that helps.

I guess it's also the worry that I'm already in this gaming slump at the moment that if I buy the games and I just burn out as I'm doing with everything at the moment then I'll never go back to them at all.

I'll buy Nonary Games for now and see how I do. That way I'll at least have the first two games.

PS4 Remote Play finally available on iPhone

Quote

Time moves slow if you're an iPhone user waiting for PS4 Remote Play. Back in October 2014, Sony announced it would bring Remote Play to its Xperia Z3 series of smartphones, and the feature was then announced for PC and Mac a year later. But still no word on iOS devices.

Until today! Thanks to firmware update 6.50, iPhone and iPad users can now use Remote Play. At long last.

The much-demanded feature, which allows you to boot up and stream your PS4 directly onto your phone, can be accessed via the official app. Previously, iOS users desperate to stream their PS4 had to use third party apps such as R-Play, which came at a cost of about $12 (£9.13).

Might give it a try on my iPad tonight when I get home.

As a demon army besieges his village, a young ninja ventures through a cursed world, to deliver a scroll paramount to his clan’s survival. What begins as a classic action platformer soon unravels into an expansive time-traveling adventure full of thrills, surprises, and humor. The Messenger arrives on PlayStation 4 March 19, 2019.

First time hearing about the game. Apparently it's really good.

Very happy to finally see a release date for the PS4 version of this. When they went quiet on it after the Switch/PC release I had feared that it might not be coming but so glad that it is and it's only a week away. Looking forward to trying it myself.

Has anyone here got the plat for Celeste? I would be immensely impressed by that

Haven't really tried getting it, yet, but definitely want to. Without the assist mode, that is. It's not a rare Platinum because of that mode.

I honestly never even noticed that mode :/ and the fact that you can get trophies while using it really dampens things for me. I don't think I'll bother going for plat, with or without, but I'm glad I beat all the B-Sides without clicking it.

I think it's a great idea as a mode, I just don't think it should grant trophies.

So... err... anyone gonna talk about the fact that Sony have just partnered with Epic to put out Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human on PC?

It's kind of a big deal!  Sony are willing to sell the PC publishing rights to their first party titles! The floodgates are now opening!

Pretty surreal to see this!

*sigh* if this is true then... I guess I'll be buying a PS5.

I'm only sighing because I really like my PS4 and I've had my launch model since... well... launch. :p

I didn't want to buy another new console but depending on when this launches and how long my PS4 lasts, who knows.

But yes, full backwards compatibility? With all Playstation systems? That would be absolutely amazing. :D

Although... I would probably only put really good condition discs in it, also the other side of it is, it has to be able to handle all those discs well.

I know with some backwards compatible systems, they handle the discs differently, just saying... you wouldn't want them scratched.

Certainly not if you had a rare PS1/PS2 RPG that's hard to replace.

It kind of sounds like having to boot into a separate mode, kind of like what the Wii U had where you had to launch the Wii app to play old games. PS4 games might be as simple as just putting the disk in though, hopefully. Assuming you can do that at all, as it would limit their ability to release remasters and re-releases.

I'd only be interested in the whole thing if I can play my old discs. If it's a digital thing then you will be hampered by the fact that you will only get to play what they decided to release. There are far too many games that will be left off the table due to licensing if they go the digital route.

Sounds like a pretty typical BC solution.  This is exactly how the existing PS4 Pro works with base PS4 games anyway; so I wouldn't say that it's indicative of anything really.

Same here, I was just meaning that say you have a really old PS1 disc in not so good condition, you probably wouldn't put that in a PS5.

Say you had a really good condition collectable PS1 game in excellent condition, if the drive scratches old discs, you probably wouldn't put that in a PS5.

So long as the new hardware won't damage the old games and plays them from original discs then I'm all for it.

I'm probably overthinking it though, we'll see what happens but yes, purely disc based backwards compatibility would be amazing...

...if it's done right.

Otherwise, I'll stick with original hardware but it is important to preserve these games in any way that we can.
