Cube Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 @nightwolf I also bite my thumbs (and fingers).
EEVILMURRAY Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I guess it depends on opinion, if someone wants to wear a hat slightly to the side of their head because they think it makes them look good, I'm all for that. I would even get behind fake glasses if they felt it was something they thought they looked good in, but it seems rather silly in my mind. I've got no problem with people choosing to do stuff like that. It's just that their desire to do so doesn't make them look any less stupid. I'm sure Chris Brown thought that plaster on his face looked rather cool (and those who copied him), and it was his choice to keep it on. Didn't stop him looking like a total idiot. Same for Kanye West and those "shutter" shades.
Cube Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Wasn't the first 'plaster on face' due to a huge ugly wart or mole?
Diageo Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I bite the skin on my fingers too. Seems a lot of people do.
nightwolf Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I did wonder! I've had quite a few people tell me its very odd, but on the other hand I've met a few people that do it too. My mum is terrible for it and she shouts at me for it because I always cause myself to bleed unintentionally -.-.
MoogleViper Posted September 4, 2012 Author Posted September 4, 2012 Apparently the name is an arabic name (she isn't arabic) but from what i can see the arabic name is [ syll. su-ra-ya, sur-aya ] from the Iranian Soraya I just find it wierd how people choose obscure names for their children, then get angry when people pronounce it wrong, or like the more common version Or they themselves spell the name wrong to the intended one, some of the spellings of names lately are terrible, double letters misused, Y's used instead of I's, i'm surprised we haven't got names like Bethannie for Bethany yet (just googled it oh god we already do) I have a friend who spells her name Chloé (I believe it's like that on her birth certificate) and gets annoyed if you don't write it with the accent. I also know a guy called Rikki. The internet agrees that it's a male name, but I don't. Looks like what a 12 year old girl Ricky would put on her MSN messenger.
bob Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I think it was Usher who had the plaster on his cheek. Chris Brown PUT the plasters on Rihannas face.
mcj metroid Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I have a tendency to kind of Pace around a room instead of sitting down sometimes which people find odd. Does anyone else do this?
Rummy Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I think it was Usher who had the plaster on his cheek. Chris Brown PUT the plasters on Rihannas face. Lol, I like this. It was Nelly who did the plaster thing, though. I asked about the name Suraya because i saw someone on facebook who's named her daughter this go mad about its pronunciation apparently it's Su-RAY-ya (as in the name Ray), not sur-aya (the more common name). I actually really like the name Sooraya, but I'd spell it like that if I ever gave it to somebody.
Agent Gibbs Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 some of this name and hat stuff is comedy gold! who said they bite the skin on their fingers? i thought that was just me! I'm always getting told of for biting my nails, but i'm actually biting the skin on my fingers - which is apparently even more disgusting and it wouldn't be as bad if i bit my nails... other weird stuff i do, i can't clean a plate (when eating) i HAVE to leave something there, not sure why either, i can only put it down to being copying the chinesse cultural thing (that michael gambon mentions in that master card advert) but thats a crap explanation since i've been doing it since way before that advert and that was the first i remember hearing of it.

I do the skin too.. It has left some scarry marks on my hands which is shit.

That'd be me that originally said it. It seems more of a thing now that people do this instead of biting their nails! MCJ, definitely try some hand cream, its saved my thumbs a few times.
f00had Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Having just gotten a kitten I must say I have to disagree. Ker-yute! Why is your jeans' button undone? The only weird thing I can think of are people liking pornographic Facebook pages and the stupid 4-panel photos taken by kids like this:
Josh64 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Gotye and Adele lyrics on Facebook annoy me, especially if it's because someone has just ended a relationship. But I can't complain as I quite often put Sonic lyrics on Twitter :p Also, the misuse of "off" and "of". I never thought it would be such a huge thing but I've seen it so much lately, fucks me of so much.

EEVILMURRAY Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Which bit of the thumb are people biting off?
Cube Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Liking that Gotye song in general... Even the tune of that song annoys me. Baa Baa Black Sheep annoys you?
Beast Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I think, for me, one of the things that irritate me is when you're at work and customers have seen you tidy something up, they pick it up and examine it and put it back either in a different way, in a total mess or in a different place. You saw me put it there so you obviously know where it was, PUT IT BLOODY BACK!
Mr-Paul Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Also, the misuse of "off" and "of". I never thought it would be such a huge thing but I've seen it so much lately, fucks me of so much. You must really hate yourself then?
Agent Gibbs Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Which bit of the thumb are people biting off? The skin at the edge of your nail, where it usually gets a bit harder than the rest and dies off quick (going on my experiences anyway)
Rummy Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 You must really hate yourself then? I think that was the joke :p Either that or it really fucks of him. As for the biting etc, I bite nails and the skin bits, I dunno why. I sometimes get so bad I hurt my fingers sometimes, but tbh I've seen much worse. I think the weirdest thing for me in the thread though is Ell's balancing out weirdness. What would you do if you ever lost a limb?
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 You must really hate yourself then? Clearly it was a joke.
Mr-Paul Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 (edited) Clearly it was a joke. I wasn't sure if it was or not! Josh may have inadvertently committed one of his most hated grammar crimes! You're all giving him a get out of jail free card! BURN HIM FOR HIS DISRESPECT FOR THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE! Edited September 7, 2012 by Mr-Paul
heroicjanitor Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I'm on mr-paul's side! We can't let this atrocity stand! Sure he missed an f, possibly on purpose which is even worse, but where does it go from there!? He'll be in your supermarkets sucking the insides of watermelons with a straw soon enough unless we stop him here!
Magnus Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 But I can't complain as I quite often put Sonic lyrics on Twitter :p If you're strong You can fly You can reach the other side Of the rainbooow Words to live by.
