Oh just had a thought.

Tokyo HAS TO include some sort of reference to Akira as part of the opening ceremony somehow.

Maybe when the Olympic Torch enters the stadium it could be handed to someone dressed as Kaneda who gets on a replica of Kanedas motorbike and takes the flame for a drive round the stadium :D

http://www.independent.co.uk/student/news/irrational-service-compulsory-national-service-bill-to-hit-parliament-in-2014-8805449.html

A bill to reinstate compulsory national service for 18-to-26-year-olds is set to be debated in Parliament early next year.

The scope of the scheme would include ‘instruction in personal financial budgeting, household bills, nutrition, cooking, time-keeping, life skills, tolerance towards others, treating elderly and disabled people with dignity and respect’ and teaching in basic aspects of the law relating to the most common offences involving young people.

So, basically your parents.

But if the parents aren't doing a good job of it, the state should invest. Do it for a generation and if it's done well the next generation won't need to spend their valuable education time doing it. I think it's, at the least, a nice spin on education, which has, for too long, been about growing the most economically viable produce out of the classroom rather than addressing social issues that are too ingrained by the time they leave school. After which, there's little methodology to deal with altering perception aside from the media -- which isn't socialist :P

Breeding a batch of 'decent citizens' from the grass-roots level can pay dividends in future, not only in terms of economic stability through denizens having a deeper understanding of service but also in encouraging a charitable, sharing and neighbourly attitude.

Which will help when we're at war with nature and living off rations, or whatever.

Or maybe it's overreaching into the past and trying to bring back those sepia-toned scenes of post-war Britain, In It Together.

How exactly did that become a commercial for GoPro? Did they stage it? Or do all firefighters run around with GoPro cameras in their helmets?

As there's a few of them, I guess that Go Pro gave a load to different people and used whatever was good.

This is how you do romance:

I'm not sure if it's just me, but i can't see anything. I can't see your post in the Funny Stuff either @Goafer...

They were both from the same place, so I'm guessing they don't allow linking.

Basically a guy had not long left to live, so he walked his two unmarried daughters down the aisle and gave his future blessing for when they do actually get married for real.
