MoogleViper Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 That there are some random films on that list, that surely could be replaced with something else. There are no random films on there. They didn't roll a dice to see which films should be on that list. They didn't pull them out of a hat. The list is from the top rated films on IMDB. Not random at all. Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo is The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, and C'era una volta il West is Once Upon a Time in the West. The former is one of the most famous films there is.
Eenuh Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I've got about 100, though there's some films on there which I'm not sure I've seen fully. So between 95 and 100. Quite a few films I still need to see too, like the Godfather films and Rainman and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and the old films and blablabla.

Supergrunch Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Well, I get about 69-70, depending on how much you count half-watched films. I'm still kicking myself for not getting round to seeing A Clockwork Orange or the original Alien. As well as many others.
MoogleViper Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Okay well, there are some surprises on that list, in my opinion, is that any better for you? Yes, yes it is.
nightwolf Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 57, which isn't too bad considering how much jayseven/dan used to go on about how many films I've hadn't watched. I'm slowly getting through more, there were a few I'd recently watched (the thing for example haha). I wish a few more disney films had been on there though.

weeyellowbloke Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 (edited) 115 pour moi, checked films were getting pretty thin on the ground below the 200 mark. Still quite a lot of films I really should see but never have there, like the Godfather 2 (first one bored me (ooh controvesial)), Wall-E and the some big classics (Casablanca and Gone with the Wind). I was surprised by some of the top 250, Black Swan in the top 100....really? I guess this is IMDB though, new films always get a big boost in rating before slipping down. Oh please do tell me how Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo and C'era una volta il West end again? without Google! There's a stand off, some people die, the hero rides off into the sunset. Paj! Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Would have been 160 if I can bloody find Requiem for a Dream in my local hire shop! A better film than a good lot on this list.
Pancake Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 43/250. That list made me happy. The Thing and The Lion King both on there?? Wow. I refuse to watch a Star Wars film, cost me about 6 points. OH well! If it's user voted, i'm surprised Twilight isn't number one! Or at least on there.

Magnus Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 If it's user voted, i'm surprised Twilight isn't number one! Or at least on there. IMDb isn't popular enough with fourteen-year-old girls.
MoogleViper Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I think Star Wars is overrated. As is The Godfather.
Beast Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I think Star Wars is overrated. As is The Godfather. Really? Why do you think that? Both have awesome films with great sequels! (and I don't include I, II or III as a sequel were Star Wars is concerned...just saying).
Pancake Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Why's that? Star Wars is awesome. They just never appealed to me, and then everyone i've ever met in my entire life loved them, and that made me want to hate them more. Then one day i switched ITV on, and one was on. I see a robot being dragged along the ground saying "this is a drag". Few mins later he is next to his disembodied head, and says "i'm beside myself". Then some robot (or something) swipes at Nat Portman, and just happens to rip her tunic in a way that perfectly exposes her midriff. I thought "i think i've seen enough!". And switched off. Oh, i did see Phantom Menace in its entirety when it came out. Forgot about that. The fact i forgot says it all really.
EEVILMURRAY Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 So cheap body placement jokes are acceptable, yet seeing some lovely female flesh switches you off? You are quite the character...
Esequiel Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 92/250 but some of the movies on there should be replaced. Seriously.
Pancake Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Um, what?? I was citing all three of those incidents in the film as shit. As for the last, it was the fact that her top got slashed in such a convenient way that made me roll my eyes. It was a bit Carry On. Like Barbara Winsor getting her sleeve caught in a door and her top rips off. Except, this isn't Carry On and supposed to be a serious film and one of the best films ever made? OKAY then!
Happenstance Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 None of the Star Wars prequels have ever been called one of the best films ever made

Oh, i did see Phantom Menace in its entirety when it came out. Forgot about that. The fact i forgot says it all really. I can see why you don't like Star Wars. You're basing your opinion on The Phantom Menace (and the prequels in general). I don't blame you, those films are huge steaming piles of shit. I implore you to give the original three a chance. They're not nerdy sci-fi, they're really epic adventure films set in space. And, unlike the prequels, they're actually very good. The Empire Strikes Back, in particular, is fantastic and one of my favourite films ever. Just steer well clear of the prequels. I like to pretend they never existed.
Frank Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Disappointment. 45/250. I expected at least 70 Oh well, I'm just that avant-guard, obviously. Thank fuck for Hitchcock though. I'm sure most of my choices were his movies

You've just described the weakest of the prequels, Attack of the Clones and a very poor sequence in the film at that. It is terrible beyond all belief. As has been mentioned, watch the original trilogy and maybe Episode III of the prequels. Then if you are still disappointed, fair enough.
Goron_3 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Have to say I'm very happy to see Rocky on that list...
