Debug Mode Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I'm holding off until I get a list of launch titles and hopefully in time for some crafty Chinese buggers to make an micro sd adaptor that works on it.

Aimless Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I don't really understand why some games rely on a memory card. Requiring extra storage for DLC is fair enough, but not being able to free up a couple of MBs for actual saves? That strikes me as something that should be handled by Sony's TRC.

Looking at how expensive the card are, it really seems like this choice was made by Sony so you have to buy one. But that theory doesn't add up with how some titles don't require a memory stick. I can't recall any cartridge based game that requires an additional memory card aside from optional features (3DS game streepass data).

Personally I think they are selling the console itself at either a lose or not a larger profit and this represents an opportunity to make some money back, so it's a clear choice they have made. Otherwise why create their own overpriced new memory cards...using Memory Duo Pro's (or whatever the hell they were called) from the PSP would have made sense as would have meant being to just plug in and play existing PSP games/Minis without having to transfer them or redownload them.
LegoMan1031 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, do I get one? Probably will but will wait and see!
bryanee Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Not sure its been said here yet but you will need a memory card to save your game for Uncharted.
Daft Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 ....Even though it's on a cartridge?? Gold clap for whoever decided on this bullshit.
Cube Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 So it would cost me £287.85 for Uncharted (That's for a 4GB memory card, too. £30 more for a 16GB).
Pit-Jr Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 This made my Monday During a PS Vita Press Conference on Friday, Sony Computer Entertainment Taiwan announced the PS Vita will launch in Taiwan on December 23, at the conference SCET's new spokeswoman Rainie Yang, a well known celebrity in Taiwan, came out and spoke to the media. At the stage when asked about her favorite PlayStation game, Rainie claimed that her favorite is Nintendo's "Super Mario Bros" - a game that never appeared on PS platforms. Her answer wowed the crowd at the press confernece, aware that something went wrong, she started posing to the media to divert the attention. However when she started holding the PS Vita on her hand, she held it upside down, and of course she wowed the media again with her reckless behavior! It seems she is either clueless on video games, or she hates Sony.
Daft Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Haha!! I hope she hates Sony because that would be amazing.
Pit-Jr Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Damn the picture was the funniest part and it didn't link.
Burny Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Sounds more like she doesn't really play a lot of video games in her free time and neither cares much for them. If she's indeed supposed to be spokeswoman, the Taiwanese Sony guys should have briefed her better, otherwise they're just asking for that kind of faux pas.
Nintendohnut Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Dudes! I forgot to mention I played a Vita the other day. Felt rather nice. Graphics were excellent BUT were very difficult to see due to the small screen. It was probably just the game I was playing, which I'm not actually allowed to mention, but yes. Sticks etc were lovely, touch screen was fine but didn't use it all that much. The rear touch panel was a little large for my liking - to avoid pressing it accidentally you had to scrunch your fingers into a sort of claw which was a shame. Other than that I was really impressed, and am now seriously considering buying one having never owned a playstation product.

Magnus Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Spoiler alert: the PlayStation Vita plays games.
Cube Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Spoiler alert: the PlayStation Vita plays games. A big improvement over the PSP, then.
Daft Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Vodafone Announced As Preferred Partner For PS Vita 3G Connectivity Awesome. I love Vodafone. Oh, yeah. Not getting the 3G anyway. Probably.
ReZourceman Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Interesting. I am with Vodafone. I wonder if that helps. But again....I am doubtfully getting the 3G. Depends on tariffs I guess?
Serebii Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 We've got the US prices for peripherals, including the memory cards. The memory card prices are disgusting considering many games NEED a memory card to be played. The Vita is a nice bit of kit but this is just ridiculous 4GB PlayStation Vita Memory Card - $29.99 8GB PlayStation Vita Memory Card - $44.99 16GB PlayStation Vita Memory Card - $69.99 32GB PlayStation Vita Memory Card - $119.99 PlayStation Vita AC Adaptor - $19.99 PS VITA Armor GameCase - $7.99 PS VITA ArmorShell - $12.99 PlayStation Vita Car Adaptor - $17.99 PlayStation Vita Card Case - $9.99 PlayStation Vita Carrying Case - $19.99 PlayStation Vita Cradle - $19.99 PS VITA Crystal Custom Case - $19.99 PlayStation Vita In-ear Headset - $19.99 PS VITA Nerf Armor - $17.99 PlayStation Vita Portable Charge - $49.99 PlayStation Vita Protective Film (Two Pack) - $14.99 PS VITA Pull N Go Folio - $29.99 PlayStation Vita Starter Kit - $29.99 PS Vita Starter Kit - $24.99 PS Vita Trigger Grip - $17.99 PlayStation Vita Travel Pouch - $19.99 PlayStation Vita USB Cable - $14.99 http://www.examiner.com/video-game-news-in-national/ps-vita-memory-cards-and-other-accessories-priced-by-gamestop
Retro_Link Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 So that'll be £20/£30 for a 4GB/8GB card!
Jon Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I am also with Vodafone. Probably means nothing.
Serebii Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 So that'll be £20/£30 for a 4GB/8GB card! Bit costly considering you can get an SD equivilant for like a quarter of that. It is pretty disgusting that Sony are FORCING this for games and thus are using their own format. I can see them taking a loss on the console and this can be used to try and shore up the profits
